"Down!" Jax shouted, and the platform erupted in gunfire before I'd even hit the boards. Wood splintered above my head. Knox returned fire through the rail, muzzle flash lighting his face in quick white bursts. Ryder dragged Bear flat against the floor, his own body angled over the older man's, taking the position between him and the stairwell. "They're not aiming to kill," Ryder shouted over the noise.
