The notebook suddenly felt like it was burning in my hands. Outside, engines started rumbling again. Someone was riding out. And I had a decision to make. I shoved the notebook deeper into my jacket and stepped into the hallway. Ryder followed close behind, his breathing still labored from the reopened wound. Jax and Knox were already in the yard, voices raised over the growing roar of bikes. Jax spotted me first. “Bear sent word,” he said, voice sharp with command. “He’s holed up near the old mill.
