Zachary's POV
"What did you say?" I asked, trying to hide my surprise.
"I will take the 10 lashes," Kelly repeated. "I understand you must uphold your authority."
I paused searching her eyes, but Kelly was firm on her decision. Something about it didn't feel right. There was nothing I could do now. I couldn't give her a pass even though she was a victim in all this. Favoritism caused this and I had to put a stop to it. If not, others may try something like this in the future and the outcome could end up with someone losing their life.
'You should have intervened,' Thorne growled at me. 'You shouldn't have just watched.'
He was right, but I wanted to see how Kelly handled herself. I didn't expect Selene to do something so underhanded nor was I expecting Kelly's strength. Sh
