Chapter Thirty-One Maddie stepped off the bus at the Metra station feeling a little bit lighter. She’d originally planned on going back to the apartment and putting in another full evening of work, but as she walked by Frenchie O’Neill’s, she slowed. She’d avoided stopping by the restaurant since she’d been home. The memories were too fresh. Too painful. But Jamey would be there prepping for the evening rush, and the bar would be quiet.
