Chapter 3

She pulled me into a hug. "I have found my sister. Thank you Kanna Lilith. Embodiment of my sister, Mood Goddess." She whispered in my ear, as if to keep it a secret. "What are you talking about? I'm not your sister. I'm just me. Kanna Lilith. Other than my wolf, no one else is in here." I indicated my body. She giggled and pulled me into another hug. "Scarlet is my sister." She whispered. I stepped away quickly. "Not possible! How could that be! I would have known if their was a Goddess inside me!" I yelled. She just smiled and began to walk away from me. "Wait!" I called and reached out for her, but only to find myself in the temple reaching for nothing. I let out a sigh. "Scarlet." "I'm here. What took you so long? Did you get to speak to the Moon Goddess?" "Why are you asking me that? You know exactly what happened." I snipped at her. She whimpered. I felt her starting to retreat back into my mind. "Stop. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snip at you. It just seems that I am very tired and very hungry and very much in need of a bath." She came back slowly, but I could feel her hesitation and fear. "What did the Moon Goddess say?" She asked. "I didn't meet her. I met a spell then met her sister. Her sister said some strange things along with the spell. I'm not sure if I understand it all yet. I think I just need some time to figure it out." I stood slowly and walked toward the door. When I opened the door, I was met with a huge body hugging me. "What happened in there? Why did you take so long? Did you get the answers you were looking for?" Alexander showered me with questions. "I met with a spell at first then I met with Moon Goddess' sister. It only feels like I've been gone an hour. I somewhat got the answers." I answered vaguely. "Come, I'll take you back home." Vince said as he picked me up bridal style. I giggled and held onto him. "Did you miss me or something?" I teased. "Do you want a lie or the truth?" "You know I want the truth." "I missed you and I was very worried that you had died. You being in the circle of candles temporarily cuts our bond so you can pray to the Goddess privately. When you didn't come back with mom, I feared that you had died in the circle. Luckily, mom was able to keep everyone calm and tell them about what was going on with you." Vince explained. I nodded, but my eyes were so heavy that I just let them fall closed. I don't remember when I fell asleep. Apparently I was that tired. I opened my eyes to a very bright morning. I groaned at the sun in my eyes. "Solar Goddess, why do you have to be so cruel with your sun. It's way too bright." I grumbled. I heard Scarlet laugh. I couldn't help but smile too. "Good morning Scarlet." "Good morning Kanna. Did you have a good sleep?" "I did. I feel very refreshed. Other than needing a bath. Think you are up for a run?" "Am I up to one? Always! Girl you clearly have been living with humans way too long. Wolves always want to go for a run." I laughed and got up. I removed my clothing and let Scarlet take over. She shifted and took off. There was no stopping her once her paws hit the dirt. I smiled and took this time to get some thinking done. Scarlet's POV I ran as fast as I could. I haven't felt free like this since I was last in my original form. I know I shouldn't tell Kanna who I am yet, but I feel like I should. I also feel that my sister figured it out already and will tell father about this. Oh well. I'll just have to deal with him when everything is over. I know he won't hurt Kanna. She's too innocent. Plus, she has no idea what she actually was made for. I sniffed the air. I caught Vince's scent. "How may I help you?" I linked him "Who are you?" "Scarlet. Kanna's wolf." "No you aren't. Who are you really?" I hesitated. Should I tell him? No. It's not time for him to know yet. But I don't want to hurt him or break his mind. Oh well. This doesn't really hurt anything. "You're right. I'm not a wolf. I'm the Moon Goddess." I said bluntly. His laughter rang through my head. "Don't bullshit me girl. Tell me who you are." I sighed and stopped running. "Come to me and I will show you than." "I don't want any parlor tricks." He growled. "I don't plan on doing any." I growled back. Vince came close to me, but he was cautious. Like a tiny baby deer leaving the thicket for the first time. He was in his wolf form too. That made it easy to keep our human parts out of what I am going to show him. "Put your head down. I'm not as big as you are." He lowered himself and I placed my paw on the center of his head. Slowly, large wings sprouted from my back as a warm wave of my true memories flooded Vince's mind. He whimpered when I removed my paw. "Please forgive me Goddess." He kept his head to the ground at my paws. "Stand. You are going to help me keep this secret from everyone. I already have a feeling that my sister knows where I am and has told Kanna." I said, taking a seated position on the grass. "What do you mean My Lady?" He asked and I cringed. "Please never say that again. That makes me feel and sound old! I mean, I am, but still! Nah! Nope! No no no! Scarlet is my name and that is what you will call me. For the answer to your question, Kanna was acting different when she came out of meditation. I fear that my sister has said things to her." "You could always ask her what they talked about. She can't lie to you. You being her wolf, you know when she's lied. You can feel it like a knife in your paw. The bigger the lie, the more the pain. Same with us wolves. We can't like to them or it will hurt them." "I see. Well, thank you for keeping my company. I am going to finish my run and head to the river to let Kanna bathe. She doesn't really like bathing in front of others because of her scars." "What scars?" He tilted his head to the left. "She has scars all over her body from her life time. Most are from her parents, which she hates when others see them." I explained. Vince looked down for a moment then turned and ran off. I continued my way to the river. Once I got there, I let Kanna take over again. Kanna's POV I shifted the moment Scarlet let me go. I was blocked from her by my walls, so I knew I was safe to think freely. I stepped into the cold river up to my waist. "What did she mean that Scarlet is the Moon Goddess? That couldn't be possible. But I guess on the other hand, I am a non-existent creature and she could be her." I sighed. "I should probably just ask her. She might not answer me though." I growled in frustration as I floated around the river. I opened my link to Scarlet. "Hey." She piped up immediately. "Hey Girl!" "Are you the Moon Goddess?" I asked bluntly. I mean, better to get it over and done with than to beat around the bush. She put up her wall the second I asked, but she opened it back up a few moments later. "Why would you ask that?" She was hesitant. "Because the Solar Goddess said you were and I do not believe that she would lie to me." She remained silent for a while as I rubbed my skin clean with the water. "Why do you think she would say that?" Scarlet asked. It felt like she was avoiding my question. "Because she misses her sister and I believe that she wants to see her again." Again, she stayed quiet for a while. "Scarlet, please answer my question." She sighed. "I know I can't lie to you because it would hurt you. Please just be patient. I will answer all your questions when the time is right." "No. I need to know everything about myself. If I'm going to die the moment I've finished what I was made to do, I want to know. I'm 199 years old, I think I've waited long enough to know." I wasn't taking that answer from her. I need to know. If she was the Moon Goddess, I would need to protect her more than ever. "Scarlet, please. If you are, I would need to protect you more than anyone else. Please tell me if you are or not." She growled in frustration and began pacing inside my mind. "Fine, I'll tell you. However, you must not tell anyone else. I already spilled to Vince, I cannot afford to have too many people knowing. Yes, I am the Moon Goddess." "So she was telling the truth. Is your name truly Scarlet?" "Yes. Father gave me that name before knowing that I would become the Moon Goddess. I know, it doesn't really fit." "Thank you for telling me." I closed the link before she could reply. Getting out of the water, I picked up a clump of fox fur and a few feathers. One red, one white and one black. "This should do." I thought. Holding them in my hands, I closed my eyes and willed the items to become clothing. I felt them change and I opened my eyes. Smiling at the beautiful clothing I now held, I slipped on the knee length black jean skirt. As always, it was a perfect fit. I slipped the shirt on, but noticed it wasn't was I usually wear. It was a white strapless shirt with red claw marks across the front. "Scarlet." "Yes Kanna?" She replied instantly. "Was this your doing?" I asked, indicating the shirt. "Yes. You need a change for once. Don't be afraid of the scars. Wear them like battle trophies. As a matter of fact, here." My skirt was shortened until it was barely covering my butt. "Now, get out there and flaunt this gorgeous body of ours." She closed the link and put her walls up so I couldn't yell at her. I sighed and began my walk back to the house. Along the way, I heard chirping. I looked around and my eyes landed on Papa. He was being held by his wings in the jaws of a rogue. "Papa!" I called. The rogue looked right at me. A growl ripped through my throat. I wasn't a normal growl. No. It sounded a lot more demonic than a wolf growl. The rogue didn't seem to notice but growled back. "Scarlet, let my shift." I said. "I'm not letting you ruin these clothes. They are too good for shifting. Use your fire." She blocked me out again. I growled at her, but I don't have time to fight with her. This rogue was hurting Papa. I balled my fists as they went up into flames. "You let Papa go or I will set you on fire Rogue!" I yelled. He responded with growling at me. I opened my link to him. I didn't think it would work, but it did. "Speak to me Rogue. The link is open." "Hungry." He growled. The flames died down as I slowly walked closer to him. "What if I gave you something to eat in exchange for the bird?" "The Alpha won't allow it." I smiled. "I'm not one to really take orders from higher ups. give me Papa, and I personally, will take you to get some food." He thought about it for a moment or two. He dropped Papa on the ground and looked dead at me. "No food, than you are my food." He growled. I rushed over and picked up Papa, looking over him. He seemed okay. Just scared. I held him close and kept him calm. "Get on. Your human form is too damn slow." He wasn't as big as Alexander, but he was still strong and big enough for me to get on. Once I was on, I held onto his fur tightly as he ran full speed toward the house. He stopped in the treeline and I slid off his back. "Come." I said, lightly placing my hand on his scruff. We entered the house with all sorts of stares from both outside and now inside. There were growls and snarls everywhere. "Please stay calm Rogue." I linked him. "I am. Their little growls aren't going to bother me any. I could take them all down if I wanted to." He said. I sighed and led him to the kitchen. As we rounded the corner, I bumped into Luna. "Luna. I hope you have had a wonderful morning so far." I said with a smile. "Kanna. Why is there a rogue in my house?" She asked sternly. "Um-- Long story short, I saved Papa and promised him food." I smiled slightly awkwardly. She crossed her arms over her chest. "Kanna, rogues don't get good treatment. You should have killed him and got the bird back that way." He growled and I put my hand on his snout, making him calm down. "Luna, Scarlet wouldn't let me shift and using my powers might have killed Papa in the process." Luna looked at me to see if I was lying, but she only saw the truth. "Fine. Tell the girls that the girls bathroom needs to be cleared out. He shale be bathed by your hands in there. No dirty people or animals will dine at my table." She waved her hand as to dismiss us. I took him to the girls bathroom. "Sit here. I'll get the girls out." I said and entered the bathroom. "Girls! I have been told by Luna that this bathroom is to be cleared out as soon as possible. Please, if you are clean, exit." I said. They stopped their fooling around and washed quickly and left. I stood next to a seated rogue. There were some gasps, but that was something I was used to at this point. Same with the growls. With the bathroom cleared out, He and I entered. "Go over there and look away, I don't want my clothes ruined." I said. He followed my order. I stripped and wrapped myself in a towel. "Okay, let's get you cleaned up." "I can do it myself." He said. "You heard my Luna. Washed by my hands." He growled and I narrowed my eyes at him. "Do you want me to shift?" He asked. "That would be helpful." I said. He shifted and I stood there in shock. "How?" I whispered.
