My heart beats rhythmically along with my cold and slightly watery palms.
After midday, Adi is already at my home to pick me and Lathif up. Now, we are on our way to Adi’s parents’ house – my ex-in-law. This is a sacred moment for Adi’s Mom and Dad, and no exception for me. I’m nervous, of course. This will be the first time I meet Adi’s parents again since our separation and I believe it will take a toll on all of us.
My memory is wandering about the time Adi’s parents met me at home after the judge knocked the hammer. Mother hugged me tightly with tears in her eyes, while Father did not flinch, with teary eyes looking at me with pity. I didn’t cry myself at that time. Not because I was strong, but because my heart was too in pain that it made my tears dry.
