Maria POV
Did he just say I belong to him? Really? After everything he did to me...
“This woman has belonged to me since the day she was born, and she belongs to no one else,” the demon answered coldly as he gripped my wrist tightly.
Well, I had been an omega my entire life, worthless in this world, and now I belonged to the Lycan King and the Demon of Black Magic. How ironic...
I had enough. “Listen—”
I couldn’t even finish the first word before that demon was slammed against the wall with enough force to destroy the fortress walls of the Lycan Kingdom.
“She is the Lycan King’s mate. She is mine.” His eyes were pitch black, and his aura was terrifying enough to kill everyone around him. His lycan was trying to take control, but honestly, there was no need for that. His power alone was more than enough...
I looked behind me calmly. I think the Demon of Black Magic had become nothing more than a lifeless corpse. “I don’t know how to say this, but thank you, my destined mate. You saved me from this lunatic and als—”
I didn’t finish my words before the king wrapped an arm tightly around my waist and pulled me against him until our faces were so close I could feel his breath against my lips.
“How dare you let him touch your hand? You belong to me alone. You will be punished for this.”
His closeness unsettled me even if I hated admitting it. His features looked like a perfectly drawn painting, but no matter what, I would never weaken in front of him.
I smiled coldly. “That is none of your business, Alexander. If you think I’ll fear you like everyone else, then you’re mistaken. I fear no one, especially not you.”
He smirked as his hand slid down my lower back. “I like your defiance. I want to tame you, little rogue. I’ll make you scream my name day and night, and then we’ll see whether you fear me or not.” He squeezed my ass harshly as he finished speaking.
“You’ll never touch me again. I promise you that,” I whispered in his ear with intense defiance while trying to ignore the touches setting my body on fire. “That is a promise from Maria the Rogue.”
“Maria, huh...” he whispered my name, and I could almost swear this was the first time anyone had ever said my name in a tone capable of making me lose my mind.
Damn this cursed bond. It makes me weak in front of him, but I will never let him see that. I will make him pay for what he did to me.
Our eyes clashed like sparks as we stared at each other, but deep inside, I wished our beginning had not been like this. He had destroyed everything...
Our stare was interrupted by the roar of the Demon of Black Magic’s beast, which suddenly appeared in the place. The moment it appeared, the mansion began collapsing gradually, pieces of it falling apart... and I think within only a few minutes this entire place would become nothing but ruins.
“Shift, Maria. We need to get out of here,” Ezelina, the Fire Fairy, whispered nervously inside my head, making me freeze.
She could speak inside my mind just like Ira.
Damn it. If I shift now, he’ll realize I’m a lycan and not an ordinary wolf. I don’t know what he’ll do if he discovers my secret... that I’m a hybrid. I need to escape before he catches me.
“Can you get us out of here, Ezelina?” I asked, hoping she could hear me too just like before.
And she did.
“Well... not exactly. But I can create an invisible barrier. Only witches can see through it. You’ll be invisible to the Lycan King until we get out of here,” she said, her nervousness growing because of the collapsing place and the battle happening between Alexander and that damned demon’s beast.
“Do it. That’s more than enough,” I said impatiently. “Why didn’t we do this from the beginning and escape instead of training on teleportation?” I added sarcastically while looking at her.
“We won’t disappear from the Demon of Black Magic or his followers. They’ll still be able to see us. But right now everyone is distracted with the Lycan King and the Demon of Black Magic. As you can see, he crashed into the wall and still hasn’t gotten up. Now hurry.”
She paused for a second before I quietly whispered the spell as violet magical circles formed beneath my feet.
“Velthar nox… Umbra veil… Seraphis mora…”
“Am I invisible now?” I asked after she fell silent and started leading me toward the door.
She was about to answer, but Alexander’s gaze made me realize it had worked. He was searching for me through the room while fighting the beast.
I moved quickly behind her, and just before I disappeared, my eyes landed on the Demon of Black Magic. He was staring at me with a smile on his face while still lying on the floor, mouthing silently without speaking, "I will find you again.”
We managed to escape the place, and the last thing I heard was Alexander screaming my name.
“Mariaaaa!”
