*Piper’s POV*
“Wake up.” Jaxon spoke softly as he nudged me.
I stirred slightly in his arms. “I don’t want to.” I groaned.
“I know.” He let out a low chuckle. “But we have some business to get taken care of.”
“Like what?” I asked as I opened my eyes to look at him.
“I sent a member out a few days ago to check in on the Silver Moon pack. I just got word from Nikko that they’ve returned with some information.” He answered. “Now either you can come with me and we can do this together, or I can go on my own and you can stay in bed.”
I sat up as we both knew what decision I would make. I wanted to be involved and I wanted to know things first hand. Laying here in the bed was not the way to do that.
“Give me just a couple minutes.” I spoke as I got out of the red silk sheets.
Jaxon sat up in the bed and I could feel his eyes on my bare body. “Take your time. I don’t mind the view.” I could hear the seduction in his tone.
I picked up his shirt from the floor and glared at him as I threw it at him. He managed to catch it in his hand. “Shouldn’t you be getting ready yourself?” I asked him.
“Yes.” He nodded and then looked at his shirt. “I appreciate your attempt to help but I think a clean one would be more suitable.” He smirked.
My glare intensified. “Shut up and get dressed.”
He didn’t say anything else as he climbed out of the sheets. My eyes looked over his perfectly sculpted body and landed right on the manhood in between his legs. I could feel the desire and want for him begin to build inside of me again. It didn’t matter that we had been intimate last night, I wanted him again.
“Piper, there’s more than enough time for that later.” His voice brought me out of the trance I seemed to have been put in. This time I had been the one who was staring.
“I know.” I responded as I headed to get some clothes on.
.Once I’m completely dressed in a pair of jeans and a tank top I turn around and find Jaxon finished up as well. “Are you ready?” He asked.
“Yes.” I nodded.
He then grabs my hand and leads the way out of the bedroom. We walk down to the alpha office. Typically we would join the pack for breakfast but this is something I can tell he doesn’t want to wait on. I completely understand as I’m a little on edge to find out what exactly the Silver Moon pack had decided to do.
I had the vibe that things would go well when we released Parker, the prisoner. I didn’t have much experience with this reading energy and vibe thing yet though. For all I know his could have changed on his way back home.
We entered the office and Jaxon took his seat at his desk. I took the seat on the chair he had pulled up next to him. He seemed to like that I was so involved in everything. Instead of just being his mate to reproduce with we were more like a team when it came to pack issues. This is how an alpha and his luna should be, at least that’s how it felt to me.
“Go ahead and bring them in.” Jaxon ordered Nikko who had entered into the office as well.
Nikko nodded and left the office. Jaxon then looked over at me. I noticed his eyes studying me for a moment.
“You seem slightly nervous.” He spoke as his hazel eyes continued to look me over.
To be honest I was now. The thought of possibly being wrong about Silver Moon and Parker was the reason why. If I had been wrong I could have set back any plans that Jaxon had. That could look really bad to both him and the entire Dark Moon pack.
“Just a little.” I confessed.
“Everything will work out.” He was trying to be reassuring.
“What if I was wrong though?” I wanted to address my concern with him. “What if I relied too much on this gift that I don’t fully understand just yet?”
“If you’re wrong then we will figure out how to handle it.” He answered. “This whole energy thing is still fairly new. It’s only been about a week give or take a day or so since you gained it. I don’t expect you to be a pro at it, that’s why I keep having you go around the pack. So that we can learn more about it.”
His hand grabbed mine and I could feel myself grow calmer. The nerves I felt began to leave my body. It’s amazing what the touch of your mate can do. Especially with your fated mate.
Nikko returned a few minutes later with the two individuals that Jaxon had sent out to catch up with Silver Moon. There was a young man with dark hair and a young woman with blonde hair. I managed to pick up on the fact that they were mates to each other.
Jaxon straightened himself up in his chair. “I heard that you two have an update for me. What is it?” He decided to just get right to the point.
“Well, there’s a couple things.” The man spoke up.
“Okay.” Jaxon nodded. “Let’s tackle one thing at a time then. Start with who the new alpha is please.”
“The Silver Moon pack’s leader is now Alpha Parker.” The woman responded.
I had been right. He possessed the alpha energy when he was released. I just knew it had to be him. Hopefully that meant I was right about him having good intentions.
“That was expected.” Jaxon responded. “Were you able to witness how he was running the pack?”
“His patrol actually ended up spotting us and took us to him.” The man began to explain. “He asked why we were there but I had the feeling he already suspected why. He then offered a meeting with him where he could go over the changes that are being made within the pack.”
“I assume you accepted?” Jaxon raised a brow.
“Yes.” The woman nodded. “We figured the more information we could bring back the better.”
“So how did it go?” I asked as I desperately wanted to know all of the details. I needed to know if I had been right about him.
“Silver Moon has decided to undergo a name change.” The man informed us. “They’ve decided that going forward they should be addressed as Night Blood Pack.”
Jaxon nodded. “Okay. Did they specify why they wanted to have a name change like that?”
Changing the name of a pack was a big deal. I could see why Parker had made the decision though. Alpha Alec had tainted the Silver Moon name.
“Alpha Parker stated it was time for a change. It’s his way of rebranding the pack so they aren’t associated with the actions of their previous alpha.” The woman explained.
“He’s also cut all ties with Moon Stone.” The man chimed in. “He sent his regards to you and was wanting to become your ally Alpha Jaxon.”
“Why would he want to do that?” Jaxon questioned. “That pack has been an enemy of ours for years now.”
“He said it was because while he was here he realized that his pack had fallen for the lies that Moon Stone and Alpha Alec had fed them.” The woman answered. “He also said he wants to be on the right side of things.”
“Is there anything else?” Jaxon looked between the man and the woman to see if they had any other information to provide.
“No.” The man shook his head. “That’s everything.”
“You’re both excused.” Jaxon gave a wave with his hand to dismiss them.
They exited the office and we sat silently until the door closed. Jaxon then turned his attention to me.
“What do you think?” He asked as his eyes looked into mine.
“I think if he meant any harm then those two wouldn’t have come back here without a scratch on them.” I was now feeling confident in my reading of Parker’s energy again. “Now that doesn’t mean we should just go and accept his offer of being an ally right away. We need proof that his intentions really are what he says.”
“Okay.” He nodded. “We don’t exactly have much time with the fact Matteo could be Moon Stone’s alpha at any time. How do you suggest we go about this?”
I thought for a moment. “Invite him and his higher up members here. We’ll have a meeting about it or something. Unless anyone knows what I am then they have no idea I can pick up on their energy. Invite them here, we’ll have a meeting and a meal. That’ll give me enough time to read everyone he brings. If any of them have bad intentions I’ll know and then we’ll refuse their proposition to be allies.”
It was the only option I could think of. Watching him would take too long and if they were going to be allies we could use them when Matteo showed up. Considering they had cut ties with Moon Stone I’m pretty sure that’ll make Matteo come to us that much faster. Knowing his mind he knew he had to act before word got out that he was losing allies.
If the other packs knew then they would begin to pull back as well. Moon Stone would quickly become a laughing stock of all of the packs. Matteo would rather die than see that happen. He’s definitely going to be on his way any time as there’s too much at stake.
I bet he’s prepared for anything. Even if that means taking me on in a fight. One on one.
