Chapter 15: He Wants To Talk To You

1742 Words
*Jaxon’s POV* I could feel the frustration and anger rise as I strode my way to my office. I slammed open the door to the office. Nikko and four others were already waiting for me inside. The irritation was clear on my face as I headed for my desk and turned to face them. “What the f**k is so f*****g important right now?” I asked in a low growl. I could see a few of them shift uncomfortably as I didn’t hide my displeasure. Nikko was the first one to speak up. “We found something else.” “Yes, you made that quite clear. What is it?!” My voice began to rise. “Jaxon, calm down.” Nikko responded. “Why are you so worked up right now?” My eyes met the four others in the room. “Get the hell out of my office and wait by the door until I call you back in.” I ordered. “Yes, Alpha Jaxon.” One of them spoke and practically ran out of the office with the others behind him. My nostrils flared as my breathing was more rapid. I was worked up and I was aware of it. My eyes watched as the door shut behind the ones I made leave. Nikko and I finally had some privacy. “Well?” He c****d an eyebrow as he waited for me to further explain why I was clearly unhappy. “Where did I go after we went and looked at the warning?” My tone was now a little calmer but the anger and frustration were still quite clear. “You went to go see-.” He stopped as he realized my attention had been on my mate. “Oh s**t, I’m sorry. I just figured that you would want to know about this sooner rather than later.” I slammed my fist on my desk. “I was making good f*****g progress with her too until you interupted!” It may not seem like much but the fact she wanted me as much as I wanted her, that was something. It gave me hope that I was right. That she would accept our situation and accept me as her mate. That she would accept my pack and leave Moon Stone behind for good. That she would choose her fated mate over the one who had been chosen for her, the one who was only out to do what was in his best interest. “Man, I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” Nikko apologized once more. “This had better be worth my f*****g time!” My voice roared. “You’re angry, angrier than you were when you left the room. Calm down.” Piper’s voice entered my mind through our link. “I’ll try.” Even I knew the tone in my voice wasn’t very promising. “Why are you even upset?” Piper asked. “Because you and I were in the middle of something important. That’s been interrupted.” I answered. “You’re their alpha. They come first, even before me.” She responded sternly. She definitely values the roles in the pack and takes them seriously. I like that. This is why she would make a good luna. I could feel myself begin to calm down as we spoke through our link. My breathing began to slow and the anger started to dissipate almost immediately. She calmed me down as much as I did her. She was helping me to regain my focus on the situation at hand. “You’re right.” I responded to her. She left the connection. I wasn’t surprised that she could feel my emotions. I could feel her’s a little stronger myself. What we had done was only bringing our bond closer and closer. It was just a matter of time before she gave in completely. All I had to do was be patient and wait for Matteo to mess up even more than he already had. I took a deep breath in and let it out. “What’s going on?” “After our conversation earlier I had the perimeter runners go around to see if there was anything else left behind. They stumbled upon something, well someone.” He explained. He now had my full attention. “Someone as in?” “A Silver Moon pack member.” A smirk crossed Nikko’s lips. “He wants to talk to you specifically.” Well, this was something I didn’t expect. I couldn’t blame him for interrupting me. This was definitely something I did need to know about. “For what reason?” I was confused to say the least. They had just given us a warning, why would they send someone here so soon? “He wouldn’t tell any of us. He refused to say a word unless it was directly to you.” Nikko answered. “Where is he?” I questioned further to see where this pack member was being held up. “Basement. We locked him up in there in case he tried something.” He responded. “Well, let’s go see what he wants.” I headed for the door and Nikko followed behind me. I led the way to the basement. We had a special place down here for when we were holding people we didn’t trust. Piper I had made an exception for. She wasn’t going to be accepting of her new home if she felt prisoner. Granted I’m sure she was feeling that way because she seemed to think she was trapped in the room. I opened the door to the room this man was waiting for me in. He was seated at a table on a chair. Nikko and I stepped inside and he shut the door behind us. I took the seat on the other side of the table. “I heard you wanted to talk to me.” I spoke to the man in front of me. His face was like stone. His dirty blonde hair was a mess. His light blue eyes looked at me. “Yes.” His voice was deep and I could tell in his tone he was here to mean business. “So then let’s talk.” I responded. “I assume this has to do something with your pack and that warning we found this morning. What does your alpha want and why didn’t he come himself?” “He doesn’t know I’m here.” The man answered. I c****d my eyebrow. “You’re here by your own choice?” “That’s right.” He leaned back slightly in the chair. “Why?” There had to be some reason for his being here. It was risky for him to be here against his alpha’s wishes. “Because I thought you should know the warning is to throw you off.” He elaborated. “Alpha Alec has already decided to attack your pack.” “When?” Was it really going to be this easy to get information from him. There had to be more than this. “In two weeks. They want to get prepared enough.” He explained further. “They need to train some of our new fighters. Without more people they know you’ll destroy them.” “Why are you telling me this?” I questioned. “Because I’m sick of Alec’s shit.” The frustration he felt was clear in his voice. “This is all because of Moon Stone. They can’t take you on so they’ve convinced him to do it. He’s getting involved in their s**t instead of putting our pack first.” “What do you get out of this?” I could tell there was more. No one comes and gives free information without getting something in return. “I’m not stupid. You want something.” “I want an alpha who isn’t reckless and let’s another pack control what he does.” I could sense his animosity towards Alec, I couldn’t blame him. Alec’s decisions were influenced by what Bradley wanted and needed. “I have family members in this pack and I need to keep them safe. I want us to get a new alpha, someone better. To do that, you know what needs to happen.” His intentions became quite clear. He wanted us to fight Silver Moon. In the mix of the fighting he wanted Alec to be killed. It was the only way they could get a new alpha without finding someone willing to take him one on one. No one else in their pack was strong enough to do it. “So you need me?” I couldn’t help the malicious smirk cross my lips. He leaned forward in the chair to close the gap slightly. The serious look on his face remained. “Everyone knows how strong you are. You took down the strongest alpha to take over Dark Moon. You’re the best one fit to get the job done.” He then proceeded to give us in detail everything he knew about the plan of the attack. They had given the warning to try to catch us off guard. They figured if we thought it was just a warning then they could have the element of surprise. They didn’t count on one of their own looking to get rid of their toxic alpha. As far as Silver Moon knew, we caught this man. He was being held here as our prisoner. This was to keep him safe from Alpha Alec trying to dispose of him. It was also so that if we needed more information he was here to give it and so that he couldn’t run back to report to Alec any details from this interaction. We needed to be careful. Nikko and I exited the room once we had all the questions we needed answered. The other four who were in my office earlier were standing by. “What did he want?” “He wants us to fight and dispose of Alec.” I gave them the information that I had gotten. “The warning was a ploy.” “So what are we going to do then?” Another one of the four asked. “We fight them.” I answered confidently. “Maybe then Moon Stone will understand that they cannot get around the deal that was made.”
