Chapter 28: The Pack Celebration

*Piper’s POV* “You’re awfully quiet.” Dee points out as she looks me over. “Just processing everything I guess.” I responded. The information Jaxon gave me had been a lot to take in. I had no memory of him being part of Moon Stone. Of course with the age gap it’s not like I expected I would. It also didn’t help that by the sounds of it I was kept away from him on purpose. “Do you want to talk about it?” She offered. “I don’t even know where to begin really.” I sighed as I finished running the curling iron through my hair. “All this time I had no idea. They practically did everything they could to keep us away from each other.” “Well, the Moon Goddess has a reason for everything. What matters is that you’re here now and you’re both together.” Dee gave me a reassuring smile. “That’s true.” I turned my attention to her after setting the curling iron down. “Do you have any leads on what my eyes mean?” Dee was the one who was trying to help me figure this out. She has access to thousands of books. Of course with that many it takes time to go through but she was bound to find something for me. She had to. “Not yet.” She shook her head. “I’m going through them as quickly as I can. Like I said before I’ve only read about it once and I can’t remember what book it would be in.” “That’s okay.” I shot her a small smile. “We’ll figure it out eventually. I just want to know, I just want to understand all the reasons why they chose me. I have a feeling there’s more to it than just my strength.” “I’ll keep looking.” She reassured me. “I won’t stop til I find it Piper. I managed to figure out Jaxon’s background which was locked down pretty tightly, I’m sure I can find this out sooner or later.” “I appreciate your help.” I headed towards the closet. “Now I could use it elsewhere, what does someone wear to one of Dark Moon’s celebrations?” “Something not as casual as normal, a little dressier but not too much.” She responded as she joined me at the closet door. “Wow, Jaxon really made sure he was prepared for you wasn’t he?” Jaxon had managed to fill my side of the closet pretty full since my arrival. My clothes had only taken up a small portion of this when I arrived. Jaxon kept having things brought in though because he was determined to make sure I had everything I needed. I wasn’t sure how he got all of this but I’m sure he had his ways. “Yeah.” I glanced over at her. “Your description also didn’t answer my question really.” “Hmm.” She looked over some of the clothing. “It’s a little different considering you’re now on your way to be our luna. Oh, let’s look at this!” She grabbed a black dress with long sleeves. This is one of the items that Jaxon had acquired for me. It looked nice but not too nice. “Are you sure that’s good enough?” I raised a brow. “Trust me.” She pushed the dress into my arms. “Go try it on.” I took the dress and went into the bathroom. I stripped out of my jeans and my shirt. I then pulled on the dress and took a look in the mirror. It hugged my body tightly and went down to my lower thigh. The neckline was low cut and showed off a little bit of cleavage but not too much. I went to open the bathroom door and picked up on another scent in the bedroom. I smiled to myself as I recognized it immediately. I opened the door and Jaxon was talking with Dee when I stepped out. His eyes met mine for a moment before he looked me up and down. I noticed he bit his lower lip as he walked closer to me. “I had high expectations for that dress, but damn. It’s much better than I expected.” I felt myself begin to blush. “Thanks.” “You too are so cute it’s disgusting.” Dee teased as she got off the couch. “Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be going to get myself ready. I’ll see you guys at the celebration.” “Bye Dee.” I gave her a warm smile as she exited the room. Jaxon wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me against him. I could see the desire and want all over his face. “Or we could just celebrate up here on our own?” “No.” I smirked. “Considering this is a celebration for you not being forever alone we should make an appearance.” “Ouch.” He let out a small chuckle. “Nothing says we can’t celebrate up here later though.” I gave him a kiss on the lips before pulling back away. It’s not that I didn’t want to continue, I just knew if we did then we definitely wouldn’t be attending the celebration that pack members decided to have. “Okay.” He agreed and headed for the closet to get some nicer clothes from his side. I watched as he stripped off his pants and shirt. I could feel my own desire for him building as he dressed. He turned around once he had on a black pair of pants and a dark blue button up shirt. This was going to be one hell of a long night. “Well, I would hate to keep the pack members waiting.” He sat down and laced up his shoes. “Are you done?” “Yeah.” I responded as I shook my head to bring me out of the trance he had put me in. I sat down as I pulled on the black heels to match my dress. When I stood back up Jaxon stood by holding out his arm. I hooked it with mine and we exited the bedroom to go join the pack. We walked down the hallways and opened the front door. There were tables that had been set up so we could all enjoy our meal outside. They had put together some string lights. They even had some music going so that people could dance. The pack members had really outdone themselves, if they went this far for just a celebration I could only imagine how far they would go for the ceremony. “This is amazing.” I spoke as Jaxon led the way around. “Yeah, they always do a great job at these kinds of things.” He responded as he looked around at everything. My arm remained linked with Jaxon’s as we went around and talked with various members of the pack. Some of the members who had remained standoffish after everything were beginning to seem more welcoming. Having been marked by Jaxon had shown them how loyal I truly was to them. We mingled for a little while longer when we were approached by a familiar blonde. Emma. “I just wanted to congratulate the two of you myself.” She spoke sincerely. “Really?” Jaxon raised a brow as he wasn’t quite buying it. “Yes.” She glared at him. “The Moon Goddess has made it clear that her decision is final. I may be a lot of things Jaxon but I’m no homewrecker and I’m not about to piss off the goddess in charge of finding me a mate.” “Thank you Emma.” I smiled to break the awkward tension between the two of them. “You’re welcome.” She smiled in return and glanced at Jaxon. “At least one of you is grateful.” She then proceeded to walk off. Jaxon rolled his eyes. “Sorry about her.” “No need to apologize.” I reassured him. “I could tell her congratulations was genuine.” Jaxon’s face looked at me curiously. “What do you mean?” “I don’t know.” I shrugged. “I just didn’t get the snarky vibe from her until you questioned it. Before that she didn’t seem to have any negative energy.” “You can pick up on others' energy? How long have you been able to do that?” He questioned further. “I don’t know.” I furrowed my brows as I noticed how intrigued he was about this. “If I’m being honest I could kind of pick up on the energy of the others earlier today but I couldn’t make any of them out clearly. Maybe it’s something I gained when we marked each other?” He pursed his lips together as he thought for a moment. “Interesting. We’ll have to look into it more.” We finished making the rounds with the pack and took our seats at the table. As dinner was getting served Jaxon stood up and thanked the pack for all the planning they did. He sat back down when he was finished and our food had been served. As we ate I watched the pack’s interactions with each other. I had gotten to know them over the past few days since I started venturing out of the room but there was still more to learn. I wanted to get to know all of their ways. It felt like the right thing to do considering I had been the one who was an outsider. I glanced over as I finished up and noticed Jaxon’s eyes had been on me. While I studied my new pack he had spent a lot of time talking to Nikko and other members that were around us. “What?” I asked through our mind link connection “I think I’m ready to call it a night after this.” He responded. “Tired already?” I raised a brow. A seductive smirk crossed his lips as his eyes looked into mine. “Not yet, but I will be when I get through with you tonight.” “Bring it on.” I challenged him. He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on my cheek. “Prepare yourself for a long night then.”
