Gary wasn’t sure he wanted to hear the rest of the story. He was starting to see where this was leading. “You don’t mean—” “Yup. They had to kill the devil’s spawn. The preacher said it was the only way to save the town from God's wrath, if you can believe that. And, according to the dingbat that owns this place, that’s exactly what they did. Mind you, I don’t believe a word of it.” Gary wasn't sure if he did. It did seem a bit farfetched, but the story bothered him nonetheless. Possibly because it made more sense than a bunch of kids dying from some disease all on the same day. He excused himself by saying he was tired and needed sleep.
