Will led the way through the foliage and long grass. They stumbled frequently over the cracked paving and erupted concrete, and the thick vines snagged their ankles, threatening to pull them to the ground. Will imagined them curling around him, dragging him to the ground and encircling his neck and pushing through his lips to slither down his throat. His screams of agony would be muffled by the large leaves as he struggled for life beneath the dense foliage. No, that wasn’t the way it was going to happen. If he was going to die, and Will had become convinced that he would, and probably soon, then it would be at the hands of a carnivorous creature, back from the dead.
