New Life New Mate

Chapter Three

After dinner Luke held my hand and led me outside and to a path in the woods. After walking for close to an hour in silence I couldn't stand it anymore, "so Luke want to tell me what's going on? You called me your mate, that Jake guy said something about missing packs, packs of what, and he told you to have fun with Luna, who is Luna?" 

"Slow down, beautiful. First I have to ask, ``Do you believe in the supernatural?" Luke asks looking into my eyes.

"What like witches, vampires, and werewolves?" Luke nods his head urging me to continue. "Well never saw strong evidence one way or another so never formed an opinion on the matter. Why?" Is Luke crazy or what's going on. Again I let this man lead me away from society, he does belong some crazy cult. They probably worship some guy who claims to be of the supernatural world.

Luke laughs, oh god he is crazy, "oh beautiful I am not crazy this is not a cult, this is a pack of wolves and I am their alpha making you as my mate their Luna."

"You are crazy, and I am crazy that I followed you out to the middle of the woods. Where what you going to sacrifice me to some god of woods!?" I start to hyperventilate falling to my knees waiting for whatever he has planned.

"Beautiful, calm down breath. Look at me," I look up into his blue eyes, no they're grey. I am scared I start to cry. "Oh love don't cry there is no reason to be scared. I will never harm or allow harm to come to you. Now please remain calm while I show you evidence that what I speak is the truth." With that he stood up and walked about 5 feet from me and began to undress. I can't seem to look away as his body changes, I can hear the snapping of bones as they rearrange and fur grows out all over his body. Soon a large black wolf with gray eyes stands on all fours where Luke once stood. He strides over to me and nuzzles his large wolf head against my cheek, well really my whole head. He looks at me and licks the tears off my cheeks. I reach out and touch his fur, it's so soft and warm. I can't help myself. I begin to pet him and scratch behind his ear. He pushes my down onto my back pinning me down with his massive paws looking me deep into my eyes. I no longer fear him in fact I have never felt safer. He moves off of me and back to the pile of clothes where he shifts once more back into the Luke I know, he pulls his clothes back on and I can't help but pout a little.

"Let's go back now, beautiful," he says, picking me up to my feet. He holds my hand and leads me back through the woods to the clearing. 

A man comes running up to up "Alpha, Luna," he bows his head towards us. I recognize his voice, it's Jake. He sniffs the air like a dog would, well I guess wolf. "Is she?" Luke nods his head. "Does she know?"

"The basics yes she just met Ty," he must have seen the look of confusion on my face because he looks at me and says "my wolf, his name is Tyrone I have always called him Ty" then looking back at Jake, "now what do you need?"

"Well Alpha a wolf just showed up at the border they have been brought to the infirmary she was badly beaten. Doc says it may be a few days until we can speak with her."

" That is great, we may finally get some answers," Luke says, sounding relieved. "Jake update me as soon as we can speak to this wolf." Jake bows his head and leaves us. Luke leads me all the way back to his room in silence. He is deep in thought.

Back in the room I decided to finally break their silence, "I realize I am new to all this but care to explain what is a Luna? And these missing packs? I am very confused Luke. And what makes us mates and what does that mean?" Luke stares at me for a minute before he answers.

"The Goddess, she gives us our wolves and also our mates, someone who is to be our equal, our strength where we are weak. Our wolf tells us, that night you ran into me I had been working late at the office and my wolf was going crazy saying we had to go for a run. Eventually I did and you stumbled right into me. I could smell the alcohol on your breath but I could also smell you where human. Ty was going crazy only thing he would say is 'mate, mine' I was confused although not impossible it is rare for a human to mate with a wolf and even more rare as an alpha or leader of the pack," he paused looking at me as if to ensure I am following along. "I wanted to take you right there but given the fact you are human I knew you would feel attracted but wouldn't know what we are to each other. We as wolf's first meet our wolf at 18 and any time after that we would find our mate. 10 years later I finally found you. Most folks assumed you had died before we met which does happen. The mate of an Alpha is their Luna similar to a king and his queen. You are to be the my equal and lead this pack by my side. I will still have the ultimate decision making authority but I will rely on you to guide me just like Jake my beta or second in command." Luke pauses again, waiting to see if I am following I nod giving him the go ahead to keep talking. "There are a few things that need to happen before you are officially Luna. First I have to mark you, a simple bite on your shoulder it shows all other wolves that you are mine almost like an engagement ring, then when we mate, have s*x, we will be connected and able to mind link, " I must have looked confused because he sighs and then continues "as wolves of the same pack we can share our thoughts with each other. Once the mating is complete we can mind link but you won't be able to mind link anyone else unless I was to change you into a wolf."

"So basically I am to become a queen to all these people, and we are to rule together. Can't believe just last week I was finalizing my divorce and planned to be alone for a while. But the way you talk it's like I have no choice in matter." I say sighing. I really just wanted to grow and mature on my own since I never did that before I got married the first time.

"Beautiful I would never force you, I mean sure I would love to mark and mate you right now if you would let me but I realize it's all different for you. I would never want to hurt you by making you do this," Luke looks down sad almost heart broken.

"Luke, I didn't say no it just wasn't my plan. Then again my plan was to grow old with Drake. My ex husband have his children and live a normal life. But I guess the universe, or your Goddess had other plans for me. If you could allow me time to adjust to the thought of all this before make it official than it may be an easier adjustment for me," Luke smiles at my words and kisses me softly before pulling away suddenly.

"Wait did you say Drake, as in Draken Currington?" I nod confused. I already had my name changed back to my maiden name so how does he know my exes full name? "Oh Goddess you really like to test me. Your ex husband is the number one hunter of non humans in the country. He is the number one suspect in the disappearance of all the smaller packs across the North West we just don't have any evidence. These packs just disappear without a trace." Luke rubs his face, stress evident on his face.

"Well I knew he was a bastard after he chose to leave for another woman but damn he really is number one asshole isn't he?" Luke laughs but still looks stressed.

"We are bound to have a run in soon he can't resist the challenge of a large pack. I need to train you to fight because he will try to kill you to try and weaken me. You start training tomorrow with the youths, they are strong but don't have wolves yet and would be better suited to match up against." He nods his head proud he came up with a solution to our new problem.

"Well I guess I should quit my job and get my stuff from my apartment. It probably won't be safe for me once Drake learns what's going on."

"I will go with you, I just can't leave you alone knowing the truth." I nod in agreement, grabbing the shirt and boxers from last night and changing my clothes getting ready for bed. I crawl under the covers with Luke who already stripped down to his boxers. He wraps his arm around me pulling me in tight. He kisses my neck and whispers into my ear "Good night beautiful," I start fading into peaceful sleep when Luke says something else but I couldn't hear him but it sounded like I love you.
