New Life New Mate

Chapter Fifteen

After finishing training Luke and I decide to sit down and eat breakfast together. Ham, spinach, Onion, and cheese omelets yummy.

"My office supplies are ready to pick up. You want to go to town with me today and get them?" I ask Luke hoping he doesn't send an omega I could really use the time out. Only time I've left the pack boundaries was when we went on our rescue mission.

"Beautiful I have more work to do in my office today. I am so far behind with business stuff, I haven't even set up a showing for the houses that you helped pick out."

"Send that house stuff to me. I will handle it. I can even get them rented or sold once renovation is done. You have so much on your plate let me take just a bite," I laugh as I seal a bite of his omelet.

Luke shakes his head, "Alright beautiful, I could use the help. I will contact the real estate agent and let her know you will be taking over that project for me. I will also send over HR paperwork because you need to be an official employee to make it legal."

"Sounds great. Now about my office supplies?"

"Take Mason with you, tear him away from my mother for a few hours, they are so lovey dovey it makes me sick everytime I see them together anyway." I laugh at the disgusted face Luke makes.

"I will mindlink him after we are done eating. Then I will get ready to go to town."

Hoping in the truck with Mason I get all giddy dancing in my seat. "Someone's happy." Mason says shaking his head.

"Hell yeah I am excited, I get to decorate my new office I didn't know I had till yesterday, I am going to town for the first time since I got here, not including the rescue mission, and I get to hang out with my future father in law haha" I laugh at my own joke. Mason just shakes his head and drives down the forest road going to town. 

Bought an hour to get to the store and we pull up to the customer pick up zone. I show the young man my confirmation email and he gets straight to loading up the truck. I am so excited I keep doing my happy dance. 

"Would you stop, you're embarrassing me." Mason says trying to act like he doesn't know the weirdo dancing next to him.

"Oh come on, dance with your daughter in law." I laugh. Normally I only see Mason during training so it is fun to tease him. 

"That's it I am telling Luke not to make me do this anymore." 

I pout but stop my dance, "Well you're no fun." He shakes his head, he keeps that up and he will get a headache. "There is war coming, bigger than anything we have faced before. Have fun while you can because many will die when Draken comes back. We stopped his experiment, but not him. Enjoy the little things for soon it will end."

He looks at me all serious, "How can you be sure?" Mason stares like he just saw a ghost.

"I may not have been here long but I do know my ex. He is stubborn, and has many connections. And I just know, maybe it's the whole blessed by the Goddess thing, I don't know. I just know things. I don't say anything most of the time because I don't want people to worry. So please just live a little. I am so glad you and Jaymin are together, I can tell how happy you make each other." I smile at Mason and he smiles back.

"All done, miss, looks like you have some work ahead of you."

"You have no idea, thank you for your help loading this all up." The young man nods his head and Mason and I get in the truck to go back home. It was a short visit to town but I needed it, enjoy the little things.

When we got back the omegas helped unload the truck and put everything in my office. Luke comes to check on me surrounded by boxes and bags of everything.

"Did you buy one of everything there?" Luke asks, staring at all the stuff around me.

"Somethings I bought two of," I laugh. 

"I will leave you to it, if you need help just ask."

"Go do your work I am fine." I blow a kiss to him then shoo him away. Took almost all day but I am finally done working, now to start working. 

I open my newly decorated laptop and begin checking the papers Jaymin sent over about the ball. It looks like everything is all set to go. I just need to supervise set up the day before and make a speech at the event. How this woman is able to plan everything so perfectly I will never know, just hope I don't mess it up. 

I begin filling out my HR papers for my new job at Lukes company, executive assistant to the CEO of B.M.P. corporation. Wow I sound important. Luke walks in as I am finishing up and emailing my finished paperwork to HR.

"Really?" Luke shakes his head. I look around the room. I have a soft gray rug under my desk with plush armchairs in front of the desk. I have a comfy rolling computer chair to sit in. Blue curtains, currently pulled open so I can see the setting sun. My desk has my laptop, blue wire pencil holders full of pens, pencils, highlighters and such. I have a printer on a small table next to the wall with extra paper and ink stored underneath. I have a picture of Luke and I holding hands at my Luna ceremony a pack member sent me framed and on my bookshelf along with all the old books Jaymin left me. I have a globe in the corner that opens up and has an electric cooler for drinks and a spot to store glasses and ice, but that is well hidden so can't be what he is talking about, plus it is behind him and he hasn't seen it yet.

"What?" I ask back truly not knowing what is wrong with my office.

"The laptop, really?"

"Oh you like?" I put my stickers on it and even added gray and blue fake gems for the eyes on our wolves.

"Is that meant to be us?" I shake my head yes. "It's cute beautiful, are you enjoying the new space?"

"Oh most definitely it is wonderful. Thank you for allowing me to set it up to my liking. Sit down, take it all in." I go to my globe bar and open it up pouring us each a glass of whiskey on the rocks. I close it up and hand Luke his glass.

"Really, ok I need one of those too. It's freaking cool." I laugh and sit back in my chair. "I am glad you enjoyed yourself today. Mason told me of your prediction today." That traitor telling my boyfriend on me. "He told me that you just know. How?"

"A gut feeling I guess. It's like I see the battle like it was a memory, some bits more faded than others. I know many will die on both sides but I don't know who or how. It will happen on our land, I know that, but I also know we will be prepared for them. How or why I don't know. My guess would be the blessed thing." I shrug my shoulders

Luke nods, "Maybe, please tell me when you get more gut feelings. We need to be prepared for anything. Now I know you enjoyed going to town today, I have some important meetings I need to take care of at the office tomorrow and would like if my executive assistant could join me. There is already a nice outfit laid out in our room and we will be skipping training tomorrow." I jump up and start my happy dance, I get to go out again. Luke laughs at me, "Mason told me about that dance too, enjoying the little things are we?"

"Yep, life is too short not to." We laugh and smile at each other. "So on a serious note, what would you like me to do boss?"

"Well the sexy secretary has always been something for me." I slap Luke in the arm giving him my best Luna glare. "Okay, okay, I need you to just help with passing out papers and taking notes during the meetings. These are stuffy old men so don't speak unless spoken to, they are old fashioned like that. If you have any of your brilliant ideas just mindlink me. Unlike the alpha meeting you can't just go outside and kick one of their asses." Luke laughs.

"Damn but that's how I roll. Kicking ass and taking names. I do still need to get a hold of the real estate agent tomorrow though. I can do that between meetings though."

"Perfect as always beautiful." Luke smiles at me and I smile back before I slam my drink back. Luke laughs and finishes his off. I take the glasses to the adjoining half bath to rinse our cups before drying them and putting them back in their hidden spot. Luke grabs my hand and leads me to bed after I lock my office up. My office sounds so nice. I can't believe how far I have come in such a short time really.

Standing in front of the mirror I admire the outfit Luke picked out for my first day in the office. Simple light pink button up blouse with three quarter sleeves, black knee length pencil skirt and sheer panty hose and one inch closed toe heels. The man has good taste that's for sure. I have my red hair down with  wavy curls right past my shoulders, my makeup is light and neutral. Our first meeting is at 9:30, Luke said we should be there by 9 with an hour and a half drive to downtown. Only 7 right now and I am ready to go. Still got 30 minutes to kill, just then my phone rings. 

I check the caller ID before answer, "hello mommy. What's up?"

"Oh just getting ready for my first day at my new job."

"New job? You never said you were looking for anything."

"Oh well with the divorce things happened and well now I am the executive assistant to the CEO at B.M.P corporation."

"Your boyfriend hired you to be his secretary really? Baby girl this spells disaster. No one will take you serious, being the bosses girlfriend. If you two break up you end up with out work. I don't like this."

"I knew you would snoop into his life. Mom everything will be fine. Luke respects my opinion, I was already helping with his plans to venture into real estate but to help out more I needed to be officially hired. I am more than a secretary, I will have my own projects and everything. You know me, I will be able to prove myself in no time."

"Baby girl, you don't know this man. He has secrets. That scare is less than 6 months old, he didn't have it in photos taken at some event. He is dangerous, I just know it."

"Mom, stop please. Luke is my safe place. The real danger is Drake. He broke into my apartment while I was gone, drugged me and attempted to r**e me, he has been stalking me. He even put cameras up in my home. He has to much power the police won't do anything, just like when he was dating Becky while she was underaged. When she turned 18 he beat her bad enough she almost died. Luke not only has protected me but his family took Becky in, she can't go back to her grandmother because he will find her to finish the job. Luke got her set up with a full ride scholarship to go to nursing school. He is a great man who takes care of so many other people. Please stop judging the man before you meet him." I am out of breath, I am angry I never planned to tell mother all this but she needs to understand why I love Luke, mate bond or not.

"Baby girl, I'm sorry. There is just more to this man than meets the eye. Please don't ask me how I know. Do you even know what B.M.P. stands for?"

"Yes I do mother, do you? I know all Luke's secrets and if you know what you think you know then understand me now, there is no going back. Luke and I are forever ties together. We may not be married by society standards but there are many other ways to be bonded together. I am not scared of him or his secrets. I am stronger, faster, smarter and wiser than anyone else around me. I will never leave him for it would kill me to do so."

"Oh baby girl say it ain't so. I am coming home on the next flight I need to see you and we need to talk in person. Are you living on Luke's family property?" 

"Yes it is where I belong." I simply answer. My mother knows more than she is letting on. She is not wolf or witch or vampire, she is human for sure. Could she be a hunter? Oh Goddess why?

"We shall meet for dinner in 3 days. I will send you the reservation information once I have it. Goodbye mother." I hang up the phone turning around ready to punch something when Luke wraps his arms around me, I inhale his scent, relaxing me. "I would know if my parents were supernatural right?"

"More than likely yes." Luke answers.

"My mother hinted to the fact you are, and if she knows all that and is not then there is a good chance she is a hunter. Isn't there?"

"Yes beautiful, I am so sorry. I pray to the Goddess we are wrong though"is
