Chapter 8: My First Kiss

1593 Words
Hannah ****** Over the past few weeks, things have become bearable. Chloe has been teaching me how to drive, using my mum's car whenever she's out of town, and sometimes her boyfriend's car. My dad has come by a few times during this past three weeks, he looks so in shape, he said he's been taking boxing classes. I have gotten my mobile number and have reconnected with my friends at school, my dad and few of Chloe's friends I've met. Chloe introduced me to most of her friends, we started going to parties together. It our way of coping for everything happening and so far we're doing great, I now go to the gym with Chloe days I don't have school and sometimes we jog early in the morning around the neighborhood before we start our day. "What are you smiling at?" "Nothing, Chloe just sent me a text; she said after school we're going to Liam's cousin's pre wedding party tonight, she said I can invite my friends" "So...do you wanna come?" "Of course, I'd love to come," Rose exclaimed loudly, drawing the attention of other students and leaving them curious about our excitement. She hugged me and immediately started discussing our outfit choices. "What's the theme of the party?" "I have a short gown that will look great on you. I'll wear my black dress that I wore to Chloe's birthday party. Do you remember it? It's a good choice, right?" Rose said enthusiastically, scrolling through her gallery to show me a picture of the dress she's talking about. "This one, What do you think..." "You look good in anything, babes," I reassured her, standing up to head to my next class. "You know there are going to be hot guys there, right? I mean, it's Liam's party." "It's his cousin's, not his." "Whatever, his, his cousin's, it's all the same thing," she replied with a playful shrug. I gave her a fond look, and she responded with a warm hug. "I love you so much, Hannah," Rose said as we headed to our next class. Right after school, I texted my mom, telling her I'd be going to Rose's house and that I'd be back later. Even though Chloe had a dress for me for the party, I still wanted Rose to do my makeup. She's the best at it. Rose's mom picked us up after school, and we went to her house to get ready. As I pondered over whether to text Liam, I made a relaxed noise and bounced on Rose's bed. "Do you think I should text Liam? I mean, I have nothing reasonable to text him for," I asked. Rose inquired, "Do you like him?" I quickly replied, "No, no, I don't. Eww, why would I like my sister's boyfriend? Besides, I know many hot guys I can probably go for." "That's what I thought, and that 'eww' part wasn't necessary," Rose said, searching through her closet for the perfect dress for us. "Black dress," Rose echoed, and I chimed in, "Red lipstick," in unison. We both knew what would complete our look for the party. We shared an amazed look, and then I received a text from Chloe, reminding us to be there at 6. Secretly, I had also texted Liam without Rose's knowledge. Rose ***** "Hannah, hurry up in there!" I called out. She was taking a bath, and it was time to start getting ready for the party. "I think you got a tex... As I peeked into her phone to check her messages, her screen lit up, revealing a text from "L ❤️" that read, "Wassup Ann." Quickly, I pretended as if I hadn't seen anything when Hannah came out of the bathroom, toweling her wet hair. "What were you saying?" she asked. I brushed it off, saying, "Nothing, hurry we're running late." At the party location. "Wow, this place looks so unreal," I exclaimed, waving and smiling at a handsome guy holding a drink smiling back at me. Hannah playfully pinched me, signaling that I should compose myself. "Are they a royal family or what? These people are filthy rich," I remarked, taking in the luxurious decor at the party. "Over here" Chloe waved us over, and we made our way to her. She and Liam were both dressed in matching suits and dresses, looking like a glamorous couple with their hands intertwined. I closely observed Hannah's facial expression, curious about her feelings towards her sister's boyfriend. Chloe introduced us, "Rose, meet my boyfriend, Liam. Liam, this is Rose, Hannah's best friend." I smiled and shook Liam's hand. "Nice to meet you, you look better in person" I said with a smile. "Thanks" Liam responded before turning his attention elsewhere. I followed Liam's gaze, and while Chloe and Hannah were engaged in conversation, I spotted Lucas from school. "What is he doing here?" I wondered to myself. Lucas was in conversation with someone, dressed in a stylish black suit, looking remarkably elegant as always. As Hannah and Chloe left to introduce Hannah to the celebrant, and Liam went his own way, I strolled around the party, admiring the surroundings. I had no intention of approaching Lucas since we didn't talk; we were just school mates. I decided to grab a drink and joined the party, blending into the crowd. Soon enough, the guy whom I had waved at when I arrived approached me and we started a conversation. Hannah ****** Amelia meet my sister Hannah "Hi Hannah, you look so young and beautiful" I couldn't help but smile cheekily at her flattering words; Liam's relatives were indeed attractive. I stood there as they continued chatting, but I soon grew bored. I opened my phone and contemplated whether to respond to Liam's text. Then, I noticed Lucas, and he noticed me too, giving me a low wave. "Did Lucas just notice me?" I wondered to myself, the night is getting even better. I began to wonder, "Where's Rose?" and decided to step away from Chloe. I found Rose flirting with a guy and didn't want to disturb her, so I grabbed a drink and headed toward a door leading to a VIP section of the party, exclusively for naughty time. Just as I was entering the door, I received a text from Liam: "Can I talk to you?" I glanced around, and Liam signaled with his head, pointing to a quiet direction. I watched as he walked there, and I followed a few minutes later. The place was dimly lit, but there was enough light for us to see each other. No one else was there. "You look so beautiful," Liam complimented me in a soft and low tone, coming closer and holding my hands, gently caressing them. "You look dashing," I replied. He was about to say something when Lucas came in interrupting us. "Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were here," Lucas said, "I saw her walk in, and I wanted to talk to her." He added. Liam, clearly uncomfortable with the situation, removed his hands from mine. "I was about to leave." Lucas approached me. "Hey." "Hey, you look great," he replied as he came closer. "Thank you. I didn't know you would be here," I said. "Yeah, it's my sister's pre-wedding." His words surprised me, and I couldn't help but wonder, "His sister? Does that mean he's related to Liam?" "Oh, I had no idea," I replied, letting out a nervous laugh. "Yeah, we haven't spoken before, so you wouldn't know." The situation was becoming incredibly awkward, and I was searching for an excuse to leave. "You know you're super pretty. I've been trying to get to talk to you in school, but I figured it would be kind of awkward." "Mmmm." He continued, "I like you, Hannah, and I've been wanting to tell you. I know we barely know each other, but I just wanted to let you know." Did Lucas just confess that he likes me? I stood there, gazing into his eyes as he did the same. I didn't say a word. "I know you might not feel the same way, but I really, really like you," he added. He touches my right hand, caressing it with his, and leaned in to kiss me, we both closed our eyes. I was incredibly nervous and before our lips could meet without realizing, I blurted out, "I don't know how to kiss. I mean, I've never kissed before." I swallowed hard. He opened his eyes, gazing deeply into mine, and calmly reassured me, "It's not a big deal. Just open your mouth slightly and go with the flow." He leaned in again, and this time I followed his advice. We shared a passionate kiss that lasted about 15 seconds before breaking apart. "You see, I told you, no big deal," he said, looking into my eyes. "Did you like it?" he asked. I nodded in response. "See you around," he said before leaving the premises. As Lucas exited, Rose entered and watched him leave before turning back to me in curiosity. "What did he say to you?" she asked. "Nothing, just random stuff," I replied. Rose seemed suspicious of us, I could tell she had been drinking as she smelled of alcohol. I decided to leave the quiet zone with her and rejoined the party. We danced together until dawn before eventually leaving. Rose left earlier due to her curfew, but I stayed back as I was with Chloe, and my mom wouldn't be worried.
