Rake came back to the world violently, fire ripping through his lungs and water spewing from his mouth. His chest heaved in air between choking expulsions of the sea from his body. His head was foggy and he couldn’t remember what had happened, the last thing he remembered was sitting and looking at his yacht. Had he slipped in? He was a strong swimmer, so the thought that he had simply started drowning puzzled him. After he was able to breath regularly again, he noticed a woman beside him, her face was planted in the sand so he couldn’t see her features. She had long, curling seaweed green hair that was matted and tangled, it probably fell past the girl's hips when standing. As his eyes followed the strands, he couldn’t help but notice that underneath all her hair she was naked. Concern for her well being prevented him from being distracted by her nudity. Deftly he turned her over relieved to see the rise and fall of her chest.
Such an alluring chest he thought, his mind finally taking the sight before him now that he knew she was ok. Her breasts were on the smaller side but they were round enough for a handful and her n*****s were a pretty peach pink against the pearl white of her skin. In all honesty he had never seen someone quite so pale before he mused before dragging his gaze up to her face. Her eyes were closed so he couldn’t see their color but they seemed to be just a bit too far apart, her nose was small with a slight upturn towards the end. Her lips were just slightly parted, they looked soft and inviting and with their plump natural pout he decided they were her best feature. He kept himself from looking at her most intimate spot, Rake felt it would be a violation of the unconscious girls privacy. He already felt a bit guilty for freely ogling her breasts, but sometimes his baser urges got the better of him. All together she didn’t look like a girl he would normally be attracted too but he found himself drawn to her, with ab almost overwhelming urge to touch her, despite the strict guidelines he imposed on himself. Disgust coiled and mingled like a snake with the desire coursing through him.
He cleared his raw and pained throat before speaking. “Hey miss? Wake up, are you ok?” his voice was horse and barely audible so he reluctantly reached out and took the girl by her shoulder to shake her. Heat, fire hot shot into his hand, through his heart and straight to his hardened length, at the touch. His fingers tightened on her flesh, nails digging in, struggling to control himself. He was very, very close to losing it and taking the poor woman where she lies. Not only did he refuse to ever take an unconsenting woman but she was not part of his pack and he had no rights to her or her body. The sensation he felt when flesh met flesh was indescribable, burning electricity, gnawing need, and pleasure were the closest he could get.
Swiftly he opened the link to his mind, and called out “Brice, come here now. Bring a blanket and be quick about it.” with the last vestiges of strength he had left Rake rolled away from her, sighing in relief to be freed from the swirling feelings inside of him but groaning because once again that night he was left as hard as a rock and wanting. He didn’t bother wasting mental energy to tell Brice of his location, knowing his second in command and best friend had one of the best noses in his pack, he would easily be able to follow his Alphas scent. Mere moments later Brice appeared, mildly winded from jogging over. All eyes were on his Alpa filled with worry. It was unusual for Rake to mind link, and he was laying in the sand motionless. He was so focused on Rake that he failed to notice the woman just a few feet away.
“Rake? What's up, you alright bud?” Brice meant to ask nonchalantly but even he could hear the strain of concern in voice.
“Cover her up!” Rake barked, completely ignoring Brice’s question. He couldn’t think beyond the girl and it was pissing him off, even now he wanted to climb on top of her, Brice there watching or not.
Brice did as he asked but not without questions, normally no one would dare question their Alphas demands but they had a strong friendship and Brice knew that he could, and he wouldn’t do it if others were present. “Who is this? I am not catching our packs smell from her, what happened bro?”
“I don’t have the answers to or the patience for your questions. Just do what I say,and pick her up, she clearly needs some medical attention. Is Brooke on board Queenie?” Rake barked out, surprising Brice, his alpha could be short and sometimes cruel to others but usually was calm towards him.
“Yeah, she's there.” Brice responded cautiously; he didn’t want to rankle Rakes ire any more than he had.
“Let's go then. Gather everyone up, whoever is not on the Yacht when I get on it will have to find their own way home.”

Slowly she pulled herself from the murky clutches of sleep. The first thing she felt was surprise, she wasn’t dead, the second was a pain in her throat. Something was shoved in her mouth and down her esophagus. Coral started coughing violently as she became fully alert and tried pulling whatever it was out. A woman she didn’t know gasped in shock and started shouting, of course Coral couldn’t understand her. The woman was plain looking, gangly and tall, though her voice was pleasant enough.
Since Coral couldn’t dislodge the foreign object herself, she decided to wait; surely someone could help her. As she sat, ignoring the woman fluttering about the room nervously, Coral took in her surroundings. The walls were plain, white with no decorations, the floor also plain and white, she wasn’t sure what it was made of but it looked soft. She was laying on soft bedding she assumed was what humans slept on, which was a nice change from dirt, rocks or sea kelp. Coral then noticed something scratchy on her skin, and looked down aghast to see they had put the fabric on her that their kind usually used to cover themselves. During school she was taught they did this because their bodies made them feel shameful. She supposed she would have to withstand it, so she would blend in. Coral grimaced at her new attire, couldn’t they have put her in something colorful instead of this grey over-sized nightgown, wasn’t that what they were called?
She felt like she had been sitting there for an eternity but in reality, only a few moments had passed before a flurry of people burst through the door. In an instant her eyes zeroed in the one who got her into this mess, the one she had been compelled to save. He was than she remembered but perhaps it was because he had been laying down. They all were speaking at once, but it was his voice she wanted to pay attention too, even though she didn’t understand their language. His tenor was deep and smooth like one of the rare chocolates she had once had and it pleased her ears, even when. He started shouting at everyone in the room. It didn’t frighten her, she got the distinct feeling he was not shouting at her, in all actuality it had been easy to surmise none of them were actually talking to her but to each other. It was weird actually hearing voices I this way, she was so used to telepathically communicating, but she liked it. It reminded her of Summer serenade, a grand celebration every year where all of her people gathered above water and sang their songs to the mother moon in hopes for good tides.
Everyone in the room was silent now and my prey looked at her, and Coral thought she detected a hint of disgust on his face as he came near her, did he remember her luring him to the sea? Would he recognize her without the camouflage of her blonde hair? Finally he was within her reach, she shot her hand out and quickly wrapped her fingers around his wrist. Information flowed into her as she took his knowledge, made copies in her memory and put his back. It happened in the span of seconds but she now knew everything he knew. Not his life or memories, but his language, basic history, slang, what basic things were. She now knew the comfortable looking flooring was called carpet. She also knew he wasn’t exactly human. He hissed between gritted teeth and tore himself from her grasp.
“Do not touch me.” His voice was firm but devoid of emotion as he evenly spoke the command to her.
She couldn’t respond because she still had the object in her mouth and down her throat, so she nodded so he knew she understood, though she really didn’t. What was wrong with her touching him? Did he find her lacking? Granted she did look slightly different than his kind but not terribly so, no one should be able to guess she wasn’t one of them.
“Who are you?” he demanded, impatience crossing his features. His rudeness had her rolling her eyes before she pointed at the contraption in her mouth.
“Right. Can one of you remove her feeding tube please, it’s clear she won’t be needing it now.” He snapped his fingers behind him, just expecting someone to respond without further word. It was clear from his actions and attitude he was either Alpha apparent pack of Wolf shifters, or someone high in ranking.
A fairly attractive brunette man in white scrubs stepped forward but didn’t get very far before he stopped in his tracks from one side glance from her prey. He was the alpha alright. Coral heard a girl console the spurned man, telling them only females were allowed to attend to her. A female in white scrubs stepped forward, her hair was a bright splash of red that Coral envied a bit. The woman smiled at her, though she read anger in her eyes, but why? The red head pulled the feeding tube from her throat and Coral struggled not to gag, and was relieved when the woman handed her a glass of water.
“You may go Cloud” Rake barked at the poor woman, causing the redhead to stiffen and scowl.
The relief from the water was short lived when she realized it was missing the taste of salt, it was so bland but its coolness soothed her sore throat enough for her to speak.
“How long have I been here? Where am I?” she knew she barley spoke above a whisper but it was as loud as she could muster. Not only was speech, beyond singing occasionally, rare for her but also the tube had left her raw.
He must have had good hearing though because annoyance flickered across his features before he answered her.
“You’ve been in a coma for a month and for reasons that apparently cannot be medically explained. You’re in my home, this is the healing room within it.” His voice was terse and words precise and he didn’t give her time to respond. “Who are you? Do you remember that night?”
A month wasn’t that bad, with how starved she had been she would have expected it to be several months, especially since she doubted that whatever they were feeding her in that tube was the nutrition her body was used to. How much truth to tell, she wondered. Now that she knew they were not human she felt a little more secure in her identity, but still it was better to play it safe.
“My name is Coraline Procella, but I prefer Coral. Yes, I remember the night very vividly. I was going for a swim; the night was so nice.”
“Naked?” He interrupted her; she swore she saw a ghost of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
Coral huffed, she wasn’t used to her nudity being a focal point, her people didn’t have a need for clothing so it was quite normal to be naked but this man made her feel there was something weird about it. She chose to ignore him and continued on “As I was swimming, I saw your head go under the water. What you were doing in the water by the rocks, where the waves and riptide are their strongest, I couldn’t tell you. I tried to save you, I managed to pull you to shore but I blacked out after that.”
Everyone was silent, and it was beginning to get awkward so she made a move to get up from the bed. “Well, now that im ok anyone mind taking me back to that spot you found me? I left all my stuff there and its around where I live.”
“I don’t think so, Coraline.” A hand lay heavy on her knee, she felt its warmth through the blanket and her nightgown. Her breath caught at his touch and pleasure bloomed from the spot he was touching to her center and wound around her heart. Coral felt herself falling into the same trance that made her save his life, her hand was sliding up his arm before she could stop herself. She wanted to grab him, yank him down on top of her and feel him flesh to flesh. Quickly he pulled away from her, taking a step back, something close to fear on his face. The spell was broken in that instant and Coral shook her head to clear the fog. “Just who are you?” she asked in confused awe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Begrudgingly Rake had to admit there was something charming about Coraline. He couldn’t put his finger on what about her he liked exactly, maybe it was the bold and odd choice in hair color, or the clear sea blue eyes that seemed to see too much. He couldn’t tell if he liked her voice, she was too quiet and horse right now, but thus far he liked everything about her, or his body did at least. Just being near the door to her room made his body start reacting. It was ridiculous. No matter where he went in his home, he could smell her. It was an intoxicating scent that he could only describe as her.
He just couldn’t decide if he wanted to keep his distance, or convince her to let him have her and get her out of his system. Brice had tried talking about nonsense such as “mates” when he tried to talk to him about it. Rake quickly shut him down. He didn’t believe in mates and besides, she was ungifted, just a plain old human. As far as he knew the ungifted couldn’t be mated with Wolf Shifters. It was s****l attraction, lust, plain and simple. He didn’t like how strong it was, but there was only one thing he could do about that and he just wasn’t sure he wanted to go down that road with her. Something told him he would regret it.
“Rake and you won’t be leaving until I allow you to, although I suppose we can set you up in better accommodations.” He motioned for her to stand, restraining himself from reaching a hand out to help her. Everyone had already left, after the removal of her feeding tube. Their usually carefree and charming Alpha was snappy and irritable of late and none of them wanted to be in his path of wrath.
She stood, apparently too fast because she lost her footing and stumbled, landing against the hard wall of his chest. Their clothes offered him small protection, it seemed to be skin to skin contact that drove him beyond himself. Before he could step back, she wound her arms around his neck, his brain was scrambling to process this when she then pressed her lips on his. They were softer than he imagined, and fit perfectly against his own. She had to stand on her tiptoes, he hadn’t noticed how small she was, but now he felt it. His hands dragged across a small waist, and up her back to fist in her hair, pulling her head back to deepen the kiss. She tasted sweet and salty and Rake couldn’t get enough of her. Oddly enough it seemed Coraline was just as eager as he, despite the fact he was a total stranger and essentially just told her he was keeping her against her wishes. If he could think he would have been suspicious but his entire being was enveloped in her. Rake knew he would have her.
“Hey Rake it’s all Rea...dy” Brice stopped short in the doorway taking in the scene before him. Rake held Coral in his arms, her feet dangling a few inches above the ground. Her head was pulled back by a hair knotted in his Alphas fist and they were kissing each other ferociously. In an instant they both jumped back away from each other, Rake looked angry enough to kill and Coral looked like a doe caught in the cross hairs. Brice smirked, happy to have interrupted, his Alpha found his Mate.
