Chapter 15

Ryan

I hear the front door-bell ring and little footsteps running inside. Then I hear Ayla's chatter happily as she walks around to find her mommy.

"Mommy!"

I turn around to find Mia looking at me, smiling, as she heard her babies back. I smile back and let her go past through me to meet her babies. As soon as they see Mia, both of them run to her and hug her tightly.

"We miss you, mommy."

"Mommy, miss you too. So, did you have fun?"

Both of them nod and smiles as they show her their bag of toys. Mia shakes her head, disagree with what they had bought, or the amount of it actually. Mia sigh when she sees Ayla and Ayden smiling innocently. I decided to come out at that time, surprising both of the twins.

"Ryan!"

Ayla runs to me without any hesitation and I quickly kneel down to hug my little princess. Her eyes shine when she looks at after the hugging session.

"Where have you been...Ayla misses you..."

I flick her nose playfully and smiles.

"I miss you too, princess."

I tilt my head and look at Ayden who's looking at me silently besides Mia. I open up my arms and smile at Ayden.

"You won't give me any hug, buddy?"

Ayden smiles softly, nod, and run towards me as I engulf him in my arms. I let Ayden go and look at him in the eye, his eye is so beautiful and reminded me of a certain someone's eyes. The one that penetrates my heart a long time ago. I turn to look at Mia, who's smiling and looking at us lovingly.

The door-bell ring again, signaling a customer coming and Mia quickly stands up to greet him or her. 

"A.K? I thought you've gone home"

"You can't get rid of me that easily, Mia. I'm bound to you forever"

I stand up slowly and look at that guy, the one if I'm not mistaken is Mia's childhood friend. His eyes fall upon me as he looks at me confusedly. Mia turns around when she sees A.K brows furrow and she knows who's making him do that.

"Umm... I forgot to introduce you guys, sorry. A.K, meet Ryan and Ryan, this is A.K, My childhood friend that I mentioned before."

I walk forward and held my hand out to him which he slowly accepts and smiles awkwardly at me. I can see his discomfort but he's quick to hide his emotion as he turns to Mia looking mischievous.

"I bet you've been spending quite a good time when we're gone, Mia"

I hear his voice straining, but he covers it up in a teasing tone. Mia blush as he's pointing at her red face and she punches him playfully and then they both laughing at each other silliness. I didn't miss how he looks at her, his eyes follow every movement of her and I recognize that look.

He loves her.

Ayla and Ayden join as they see Mia and A.K joking playfully, I can only smile while looking at them. Mia's eyes found mine and she smiles softly, she kneels down and looks at her babies attentively.

"Mommy sees a lot of toys that your uncle A.K bought in each of your shopping bags. Why don't both of you pick a few to bring back home? The rest of it needs to be left here, in your playroom. Okay?"

"Okay, mommy!"

Both of them nod and run to their playroom at the back of the cafe. Mia stands up and then she looks at both, A.K and me.

"Will you guys join us for dinner? Ryan? A.K?"

"Sure"

"Yeah, I would love to..."

Both I and A.K answers at the same time and Mia grins. I can see she's trying to think of something to cook for dinner, but I don't want to tire her since it's been a long day for her, for us.

"You don't have to cook today, Mia. How about we go to the Italian Restaurant down by the street?"

Mia and A.K both look at me, and I can see her eyes shine when I voice out my opinion. She turns to A.K for his opinion and he just chuckles when he sees her excitement and nod agreeing to the idea. Mia shrieks and grins as she runs to the back, probably telling Ayla and Ayden about it. Us both chuckles and shake our head to Mia's antic.

"I bet they will be ordering a big pizza for dinner"

"That's what I thought too"

A.K and I laugh picturing Mia and the twin's excitement over Pizza. Suddenly, A.K stops laughing and look at me seriously.

"Don't make her sad or even cry"

I stop laughing and slowly look at A.K straight in the eye, showing my serious intention to him.

"I won't, and I never want to. I'm serious about Mia."

A.K looks at me, trying to read me deeper. He let out a sigh and smiles as he stops glaring at me.

"If it makes you at peace, Mia made me cry too, the other day."

A.K shot up and look at me, guilty shown in his eyes as he quickly turns to me.

"It's fine now, we made peace, and I am actually glad she has you. I thought she's all alone raising the twin since I've never seen any family or friends of her"

"That's because she has none."

I look at A.K as my eyes widen and he sighs again.

"I bet Mia didn't tell you, yet"

I shake my head slowly, remembering all of the moment since we met.

Now, all make sense.

"Give her some time, she'll open up to you and I believe it will be sooner than you expected. She trusts you, Ryan. So, don't give her any reason not to trust you. Never betray or lie to her, she'll know."

I am about to ask him something when Mia and the twin come in view. I look at A.K and then Mia as she smiles brightly. I decide that I'll wait for her to open up to me as I look at her and the twin.

"Ready?"

"Pizza!"

Ayla and Ayden shouted happily to their favorite food, making us the adult laughing at it. As Mia locked up her cafe, A.K holds the twin's hand and bring them along with him to his car, he gives me a look at Mia and smiles. Mia turns to me slip her hand in mine as she smiles softly. I look at her lovingly and nod.

"Let's go"
