A few dangerous thoughts fleeted past my mind as the girl approached. One of them included a powerful urge to stand in her way. To block her from walking past me. Her destination had to be Richard's office and nowhere else. Because she was no warrior, and the offices felt empty at this time. Our eyes locked as she continued towards me. Being a ranked member of the pack, I was not allowed to look her straight in the eye when I greeted her. I was a rank-less non-member, which placed me far beneath her. Yet I couldn't bring myself to lower my head. "What are you doing here at this hour?" She asked with a frown. "Errands," I replied simply. Her frown deepened as she came closer. Then her eyes narrowed in realization. I averted my gaze and began to walk past her when she said, "Stop!"
