As soon as I got home, I packed up every last one of Leo's things in a flurry and shipped the whole box off to his office via courier. Once every trace of him was cleared out, I spun around. Lucas was standing right in the doorway, watching me. He rubbed his eyes. "Mommy, why are you throwing all Daddy's things out? Is Daddy never coming home again?" he asked. I walked over and pulled Lucas into my arms. I had no idea how to break this to a child. "Lucas, Daddy and I are going to live apart from now on," I said.
