She had no choice but to follow him up the stairs. Once they reached the alpha floor, he released her in his room roughly.
His eyes glazed over for a moment, mind linking someone.
He casually strode over to his dresser, picking up a black box that was tied with a red ribbon.
“Stella,” he said her name like a caress, and she shivered. “I bought you this when I believed you were worthy of being my Luna.”
“Your… Luna?” Stella was perplexed. “I… I thought you thought of me as a daughter.” She was heartbroken.
“Beta Yanni is a flirt, Stella.” Finally, Stella was able to read what was hidden in his eyes: jealousy. “He doesn’t want you like I do. He will toss you away when he finds the next pretty girl.”
Stella was overwhelmed. Her face turned white, and she looked around desperately for somewhere to sit down.
“I’m sorry to be the one to tell you that, Stella.” Alpha Dome clasped her hands in his, guiding her to a chair. “I don’t think Kiera has been a good influence for you, and I certainly don’t think Yanni cares for you.”
There was a knock on the door.
“Enter,” Alpha Dome called out.
A woman entered the room. Stella thought she looked familiar, but she couldn’t figure out how she knew her. The woman handed Alpha Dome a long skinny container. “Do you wish to do it?” She asked.
“Of course,” he replied, dismissing her with a wave of his hand.
“Who was that?” Stella asked, still trying to place her in her mind.
“Nurse Ava. She took care of you for much of your recovery, dear,” he answered, fiddling with the box she gave him.
He opened the box, revealing a syringe. He walked over to her, moving her hair aside, readying himself to inject her himself.
Her trust in him was broken. She didn’t know what he was about to inject her with, especially since her injections were usually done in her leg. He wanted to inject her in her neck!
She flinched back as he approached her neck with the needle. “What’s in that? Why are you putting it in my neck?” She looked at him fearful.
He forcefully moved her chin, facing her away from him and exposing her neck to him. She closed her eyes, tears forming.
He placed the needle in her neck, injecting something hot into her system. It did not feel like the injections she had gotten used to.
“It should take a few minutes to hit you,” he explained.
She was terrified, “what did you inject me with?” She was on the verge of tears.
He ignored her, turning to retrieve the gift he had given her. He placed it on her lap.
She touched the packing softy. It was a soft black material and felt very high quality. As she undid the bow keeping it together, she felt a heat hit her with force. She gasped out, clutching the box. She looked up to see Alpha Dome looking at her intently, and she recognized a deep desire in his eyes as they scanned her body.
“Finish opening it,” he commanded.
Her face was flush, and she groaned as her panties grew unbearably wet. Whatever he had injected her with had caused this, and that was the most terrifying thought.
She shook as she opened the box, pulling up the top to reveal a beautiful diamond necklace. She had never seen anything so expensive in her life. There were probably hundreds of little diamonds all around the necklace, thickening out into a point that would lead between her breasts.
Her heat hit her with a vengeance as she clenched her knees together, crying out. She dropped the necklace in its intensity.
“Tsk tsk,” Alpha Dome reprimanded. His unnerving light eyes turned a complete black colour as his desire for her grew.
He leaned down to retrieve the necklace, he circled around her, lifting her hair off her neck.
His touch was burning her. She wanted more of it. This felt wrong.
He put the necklace on her, taking his time to touch her neck lightly. She moaned in response. Her entire body was on fire, begging to be touched.
“Go to the bed,” he commanded, darkly.
She walked to the bed, sitting on its edge just before another wave of heat hit her. She fell back onto the bed and her hands snaked down to her thighs, wanting to relieve herself.
She heard Alpha Dome chuckle as he joined her on the bed, grabbing her hands. “Let me,” he said.
His hand found her thigh and it burned her; she begged him with her eyes to relieve her. His smirk was gone, and in its place, she saw a desperate and selfish man who wanted her, despite her wishes.
He inched his hand toward her core, pressing his arousal against her hip. His lips were just about to touch her neck, and his fingers were just about to snake their way under her panties when she pushed him off her with force. “Stop,” she commanded. “You do not touch me that way.”
She saw pure rage on his face. She was still taken by her heat, so her attention right now was on handling herself.
He approached her like a lion does its prey, and he grabbed her by her neck, lifting her off the bed.
She couldn’t breathe. She struggled against his hands, and just as she was about to black out, he threw her onto the bed, ripping off the necklace in the process. Diamonds scattered all around her.
He slapped punched her in the face, making her upper cheek instantly swell. “Is this how you want to be touched, Stella?”
She groaned in pain and pleasure as her heat punished her just as much as his a***e.
“You spread your legs so easily for Yanni. Maybe you better spend some time in the dungeon until you are more thankful.” Alpha Dome was ruthless.
He grabbed her by her hair, tossing her toward his door. She fell to the ground, yelling out as she landed harshly on her wrist.
“Beta Jeffrey will be here soon to take care of you,” he said coldly.
She moved to stand, but her heat was so intense that she fell onto her knees.
Soon enough Beta Jeffrey entered the room, looking at the scene. “Moon Goddess, Dome. What are you doing?”
“Place her in the dungeon. Make sure no one touches her, and do not give her any food or water,” Alpha Dome commanded.
Stella groaned as her body was on fire, and she was sure both men could smell her arousal.
“She’s in heat,” Alpha Dome explained.
Beta Jeffrey rubbed his face in exasperation before picking her up, tossing her over his shoulder.
“I don’t know what you did, kid, but being in the dungeons while you’re in heat is gunna suck.” Beta Jeffrey’s concerned voice cut through the silence as they headed to the dungeons. “Not to mention that we will have to assign double patrols to make sure the unmated wolves don’t try to claim you.”
Stella cried out in frustration. She couldn’t bring herself to speak. Her heat was too intense, and her face and wrist were sore. She just wanted to be left alone so she could deal with herself.
The guards looked at her inquisitively as she was carried into a cell. She was dropped carefully onto a cot. “This is the best cell we have available right now, Stella, I’m sorry you’ll have to go through all this alone.” Beta Jeffrey looked genuinely upset.
He left her there, giving orders to the guards, threatening their lives if they touched her.
Despite how unbearable her heat seemed to be, she refused to give herself relief, due to the lack of privacy. Instead, she withered in pain, crying and groaning.
She didn’t know how much time has elapsed, but she did know that she was starving. She was weak, and her heat, though less intense, was still there.
She groaned in frustration at not being able to wash herself or change her clothes. At this point, the grime of the dungeons had created a film over her skin and clothes.
The cell door rattled, announcing the presence of Alpha Dome. He looked down at her in appreciation, proud of his involvement in her current state.
He offered her a sandwich, demanding she meet his eyes. What she saw there was smugness. He had her right where he wanted her.
She turned her head, refusing the food. She could feel his anger at her rejection, and he threw it at the wall behind her. “Perhaps more time is needed,” he thought aloud.
“You could wait forever, and I still wouldn’t let you touch me like that,” Stella spit venom at him.
Anger rolled off him, and he grabbed her by the hair, dragging her to another room in the dungeon.
He threw her onto the cold floor, grabbing shackles from above her. He strung her up by her wrists, dangling her there like a prisoner who had committed the most heinous crimes.
“I didn’t want it to come to this,” he said coldly, cracking his knuckles.
He ripped open the back of her shirt, exposing her skin. She gasped in shock as he traced her back with his rough hand.
She was faced away from him, so she couldn’t prepare herself for what came next.
She heard him walking away, and she heard the opening and closing of drawers as he looked for something. Having found it, he stood quietly behind her, seemingly preparing himself.
Her skin broke at the lick of a whip, and she cried out in shock. She could feel the wolfsbane laced on its leather. He delivered nine more before stopping.
Without a word, he dropped the whip and left the room, leaving her hanging there, but she was long passed out before he stopped.
***
She felt a cool touch on her face when she woke up next. She was still shackled to the ceiling, her blood dried on her back. She opened her eyes to see the dark blue of Yanni looking at her in pity. She could see the anger swimming in his eyes.
“I’m getting you out of here,” he decided.
Unable to speak because of the dryness of her throat, Stella shook her head. She couldn’t put him in danger.
He read the concern in her eyes, and he smiled softly at her. “Always thinking of others before yourself. You deserve way better than this, Stella.” He broke the shackles that held her and caught her before she fell to the floor.
“Alpha Dome has lost his mind,” Yanni contemplated as he considered how to move her out of the room without hurting her too much. “I chose wrongly when Alpha Damius declared himself the alpha.”
Why did the name Damius sound so familiar to her? She couldn’t ponder that too much as Yanni carefully but quickly lifted her over his shoulder, deciding that would be the least painful way to carry her. She gasped in pain at the movement, and at every movement he made after that.
She kept her noises to a minimum as he stealthily exited the dungeon. Once they were safely in the forest surrounding the packhouse, Yanni spoke. “I will bring you to my parent’s home, and then we will leave together to join the real alpha when you are able to move.”
Still unable to speak, Stella felt tears in her eyes, and she nodded her head in thanks. He squeezed her thigh in acknowledgment.
Soon enough she found herself carefully placed onto a soft bed. She heard Beta Jeffrey’s voice in the background, “good job, son. We’ll take care of her.”
She closed her eyes when she felt soft hands moving her shirt aside. She heard a woman’s concerned voice, “oh sweetheart, what did he do to you?”
Stella allowed a tear to escape at the woman’s tender concern. She allowed herself to feel safe again, and she smiled despite the immense amount of pain she was in.
The woman removed Stella’s clothes, preparing to give her a sponge bath. Stella allowed her to help her, giving her her complete trust. She sipped on water every now and then, trying to bring back her appetite and thirst. Her throat still burned with the lack of water.
Stella was given warm cotton pants and made to lay on the bed while the woman applied herbs to her back.
“I am Beta Jeffrey’s wife and mate. My name is Catherine. As you probably figured out, Yanni is our son.” The woman spoke softly to Stella, introducing herself and explaining where their cabin was located. “You are safe here; I can assure you that Alpha Dome would never suspect us.”
When she was done bandaging Stella, she began to brush her hair tenderly. “I will let you rest now, but I will be back with some soup in a few hours. We can take it slowly, but please do try to eat and drink.”
The woman left the room, and Stella found herself falling asleep quickly. She was exhausted.
Escape, Again.
It took Stella almost a week to recover. Whenever she could, Catherine and Beta Jeffrey would help her sit outside in the moonlight, allowing the moon to hasten her recovery. In these moments she would bask in the power she felt from the moon. Her skin would glow, and Catherine and Beta Jeffrey would watch her in wonder.
Although her body was healing, her mind was not. She felt like she was breaking. Despite having Catherine, Beta Jeffrey, and even Yanni around, she felt alone. She felt like she was missing part of her soul.
With the lack of weekly injections, Stella was going into a sort of withdrawal. She tried to explain the injections to Catherine, describing how it felt ice-cold when entering her system, and how it had muddled her brain.
Catherine only looked at her with even more concern, telling her that it will leave her system eventually, but that it may be a long road to heal from the mental trauma it may have caused.
Stella was sitting in the moonlight one quiet night when the wind shifted, and suddenly she smelled something so intoxicating that it had her full attention. It smelled of cedar and pine, but she knew it wasn’t simply coming from the trees around her.
She looked around, trying to find where the scent was coming from, when Yanni grabbed a hold of her, pulling her into the cabin.
“Stella,” he said softly, sitting her down. “I reached out to my old friend. The true alpha of this pack, and I told him about you and our plans to escape. He showed up just a few minutes ago, claiming that you’re his mate. I just wanted to warn you before he barrels in here like the hot head he is and overwhelms you. I wish he would have sent word to prepare us for his visit.”
Just as he finished preparing Stella, the door to the cabin slammed open. Standing there in the doorway was the most handsome man Stella had ever seen. His forest green eyes captured hers. She could see shades of pastel green swimming in his iris as he crumpled to the floor before her. He grabbed hold of her hands with his rough ones, holding them gently to his cheek. She felt that his cheeks were wet, and her heart opened to this stranger in an instant. Why was he so upset?
“Halo,” he breathed, looking into her eyes, begging her to accept him.
“Halo?” She asked, confused.
“This is Stella,” Yanni supplied.
Suddenly, the stranger grabbed hold of her face, making her eyes meet his. She could see the honestly and devotion clear in his beautiful orbs. “No,” he said with absolute conviction. “This is Halo. This is my mate.”
He searched her eyes, looking for something. She could feel the sparks from his touch, and she put her hands over his, holding him there. She searched his eyes as well, looking for answers that were erased from her mind.
“Do you… not remember me?” The man asked. He looked shattered.
Stella frowned. “Alpha Dome found me unconscious near his borders. He told me my name was Stella.”
“Do you feel the mate bond?” He pressed.
“I don’t have my wolf yet, but I feel a pull to you,” she explained.
He nodded, accepting the situation as it was. “Your name is Halo, you are my mate, and Dome did not find you unconscious, he abducted you from my camp.”
Halo nodded, accepting the facts her mate provided her with.
“Sess is waiting for you nearby. We need to get you out of here before Dome realizes I’m here.”
“We are coming with you, Alpha Damius” Yanni declared.
Alpha Damius nodded, paused, and looked at Halo. “Are you okay with that?”
“Yes,” she answered. “I cannot express how grateful I am for this family.” She looked around at the cottage, truly thankful for their help and patience.
They all left that night, leaving the cottage in the woods, and heading toward where Sess waited.
“Halo? Halo? Are you alive?” Halo heard a familiar male voice in her head. She paled, stopping.
Alpha Damius looked at her with concern, “are you okay?”
“Someone is mind linking me, asking if I am alive.”
“That’s probably Sess, but we can’t risk you still being tied to the pack. You need to rescind your ties with the pack before we continue.” Alpha Damius explained.
Halo nodded, remembering from the lessons that Alpha Dome had had her take about werewolf culture.
She cleared her throat, “I, Halo and Stella, of The Darkmoon Pack, hereby sever all ties with this pack, removing myself as a pack member.” She felt the snapping in her mind and in her heart as she left The Darkmoon Pack behind her.
They continued to walk, Alpha Damius mind linking Sess to confirm it was him. “It was Sess mind linking you by the way,” he clarified.
“I don’t remember him, so I’m not sure if I should respond,” she supplied.
Alpha Damius chuckled, “well at least that’s one positive thing in this whole mess.”
Halo didn’t know how to respond to that, so she stayed silent, following close behind him as they traversed the forest.
Soon enough they found Sess, who hugged Halo tightly to his chest. “I’m literally never leaving your side again,” he choked out. “Please never order me away like you did last time.”
Halo didn’t have the heart to tell him he didn’t remember him, so she just nodded, agreeing with him.
“I’m sorry if my mind linking scared you, but Halo, is it true that you don’t remember anything?” Sess asked. He pulled away from her, looking into her eyes.
She felt a pull to him, and it hurt her to tell him outright. “I’m sorry,” she said softly, and that was all the answer he needed.
He hugged her again, saying softly, “It’s okay, we can get your memories back.”
Alpha Damius cleared his throat, and they continued their way through the woods.
After some time, Sess commented “You know, Halo, you’re a lot better at not falling over yourself out here.”
Yanni laughed, “you can thank me for that one.”
Halo smiled, already enjoying being away from that pack, but she was sad to leave Kiera behind. As much as she had eventually felt comfortable in that pack, there was always an uneasy feeling. She assumed it was because of her loss of memories, but she realized now it was deeper than that. Alpha Dome was twisted beyond words, and she had experienced that firsthand.
But she was out. She escaped.
