9 I’m on an unfamiliar rooftop, staring down at the City of Brotherly Love. The world is expansive and I am at the apex of existence. It’s been a week since Luke was taken from me. Long enough to move on to the next person, the next party. The next line. Trying, always trying, to forget. Through the kaleidoscope of my eyes, the people below me are simultaneously magnificent and insignificant. They wander aimlessly through the labyrinth that is life. I exist outside of the kaleidoscope. I am a bird with gorgeous, Technicolor wings—big blue, purple, and magenta ailerons. I spread my n***d arms, unencumbered by excess fabric. On this hot, summer night, I’m wearing a slinky black camisole that an old boyfriend gave me as a gift. He meant it to be lingerie, but I don’t confine its sexiness
