Step eight: Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
I take my eighth-step list directly from my fourth step. 172 distinct individuals, some of whose names I don’t even know. In those cases, I’ve written a description.

I’m glad I kept my fourth-step list. Some people burn theirs and have to start over when making their amends inventory. I hate the idea of starting from scratch. As it is, I’ve had to add a few names that didn’t make it onto my fourth step—customers from work, the nail-obsessed Tina, with whom I’ve been repeatedly sarcastic, some fellow AAers, and telephone solicitors.
