The world felt heavier than usual. My mind went blank the moment I thought about stepping into Eve’s family office. How was I supposed to talk to her Uncle? Every scenario that flashed through my mind ended with me walking out, broken, humiliated, or worse—chased away. I swore to myself I wouldn’t leave until I confronted him face to face. Yet now, staring at the building, I realized I had no idea what I would say.
