Octavia's Point of View The rain comes down in sheets, plastering my hair to my face, soaking through my clothes until I feel chilled to the bone. But the storm outside is nothing compared to the storm inside me. Kai and Rafael are still at it, voices raised over the thunder and sirens, their words tangling like claws in the air. “She is my mate, it is my right to protect her,” Rafael growls, stepping forward. “She does not need or want your claim. She needs trust,” Kai fires back, his tone sharp enough to cut. I cannot take it anymore. My teeth clench, my patience frays to the very last thread, and finally I snap. “Enough.” Neither of them hears me, or maybe they just do not care, too wrapped up in their pissing contest.
