"Antagal naman ng babaeng ‘yon!" Emerald huffed, glancing at her wristwatch. She had been waiting for almost ten minutes, and Pamela was still nowhere in sight.
There, walking towards her, was a tall, stunning woman—her one and only best friend, Pamela Jones.
Emerald frowned at her question. "Gg*, three months ka lang nawala, hindi mo na agad ako nakilala? May iba pa bang 'Em' dito? At saka, bakit ang tagal mo?!"* she snapped.
"Sorry na, na-traffic lang," Pamela reasoned, giving her a sheepish smile.
"Whatever." Emerald rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Pero seryoso, Em, muntik na kitang hindi makilala. Lalo ka kasing gumanda," Pamela teased, giving her an appreciative look.
Emerald smirked, flipping her hair. "Matagal na akong maganda kahit hindi mo sabihin."
Pamela chuckled. "Sabi ko nga." Then, her expression softened. "I missed you, bestie."
"Bakit ako? Hindi ba?" Emerald quipped, hugging her back before pulling away.
Pamela laughed and took a seat beside her, immediately ordering a drink.
"So, how was your vacation? Buti naman at naisipan mo nang umuwi," Emerald asked, taking a sip of her Margarita.
Pamela’s face lit up. "Actually, while I was there, may nakilala ako. He’s a FilChi," she gushed, a dreamy look in her eyes.
Emerald raised a brow. "FilChi?"
Pamela giggled. "Gaga! FilChi—half Filipino, half Chinese."
"Eh kasi, linawin mo! Ano na namang pauso ‘yan?" Emerald huffed, rolling her eyes again. Pamela only laughed harder.
But when Emerald shot her a glare, she immediately stifled her laughter. "Okay, okay! Chill!" Pamela raised her hands in surrender.
"Ano pangalan ng lalaking ‘yon?" Emerald asked, curiosity piqued.
"Marcus Ivan Sy," Pamela replied, blushing slightly at the mere mention of his name.
Before Emerald could respond, a deep, masculine voice interrupted them.
"Hey, Miss. I heard you say my name. Do you know me?"
Emerald and Pamela both turned toward the voice in surprise.
Their eyes landed on a tall, handsome man with a slight chinito look.
"Hey, Pamela! Ikaw pala ‘yan!" The man’s lips curled into a grin as recognition flashed in his eyes.
Pamela gasped, her own face mirroring his surprise. "Marcus?!"
Emerald’s brows shot up. "Bes, kilala mo ‘to?"
Pamela quickly nodded before introducing him. "Yeah. He’s the guy I was telling you about—Marcus Ivan Sy."
Marcus extended his hand to Emerald. "Hello, Miss. I’m Marcus Ivan. Nice to meet you."
Emerald took his hand, shaking it firmly. "Emerald Suarez. Nice to meet you too." She gave him a polite smile.
Marcus smiled back, then turned his attention to Pamela. "I wasn’t expecting to see you here."
"Me too." Pamela grinned. "Since andito ka na rin, why don’t you join us?" she offered.
Marcus was about to respond when two more men approached their table.
"Gg*! Kaya pala hindi ka namin mahanap, nandito ka lang pala,"* one of them said, shaking his head in amusement before shifting his gaze to the two girls. "Sino ‘tong mga ‘to?"
Marcus chuckled. "She’s Pamela Jones, the girl I met in Australia."
Pamela blushed.
"Haha, may mata ka nga, bro!" The guy laughed, nudging Marcus playfully.
Marcus just smiled before continuing. "And this is Emerald Suarez, Pamela’s best friend. Girls, meet my friends—Timothy Salvador and Harrison Chavez."
"Nice to meet you, ladies," Timothy and Harrison said in unison, shaking their hands.
"Same here," Emerald and Pamela responded, offering polite smiles.
After introductions were made, the guys invited the girls to join them at their table. Since they seemed friendly enough, Pamela and Emerald agreed.
As they settled in, Timothy suddenly asked, "Wait, where’s Adrian?" scanning the room.
"On the way na raw," Harrison replied, shaking his head.
Pamela tilted her head curiously. "Sino si Adrian? Kaibigan niyo rin?"
Marcus nodded as he took a sip of his beer. "Yeah. You’ll meet him lat—oh, speaking of the devil, he’s here."
Harrison grinned, looking over Emerald’s shoulder.
Since Emerald and Pamela were both facing away from the entrance, they hadn’t yet seen the man who had just arrived.
"Finally, you’re here," Timothy said to the newcomer.
Emerald had no idea that the man they were about to meet was none other than Adrian—the arrogant jerk she had punched just hours ago.
