I told them everything. From the pictures to the message to why I had my alarm changed, and how it led to me being chased down the street. Will was raking his fingers through his hair, ruffing up the neatly styled locks.
"Holy q, Vi! His hand ran down his face, his features looking very strained. "You should’ve told me sooner!" He shot up from the couch so fast, I nearly toppled over. I watched him pace the room, his anger rolling off of him in waves.
"I'm sorry, I just...I didn’t want to bother you with my problems." He stopped, spun around and snapped at me.
"How could you think that?" I couldn’t help but flinch at his tone, and his eyes softened when he saw this. A fristrated groan left his throat, and he dropped his head.
"I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you. I just don't understand why you would keep this to yourself for so long." I sigh.
"I'm sorry." He stared at me for a long second before turning to Grayson, his arms crossed over his chest.
"I'm not going on the Italy mission. I have to stay and look after Violet." Both Grayson and I snapped our gazes to Will, looking at him like he grew flowers out of his ears.
"Will, you can't do that!" I protested.
"Absolutely not. You are my best man for that mission, and all the arrangements have already been made. I cannot let you back out now, Will." Will looked torn as his eyes flicked between me and Grayson. Will was having a hard time trying to decide what to do, his heart and mind probably warring against each other. I couldn’t blame him. Grayson stood from the couch, stepping in front of Will.
"We can assign someone else to Violet as her personal security detail, but unfortunately, you can not be it." Will’s eyes flared with rage as he faced Grayson head on.
"You can not make me go, not after hearing about what's been happening to her!" I felt horrible as he mentioned me, wishing I hadn't come to seek him for help.
"You will go. We have worked too damn hard for this to throw it all away now, Will."
"She will be safe." Will looked towards me for a moment, his eyes flashing worry, then back to Grayson.
"I can't..." Will’s voice trailed off, his shoulders sagging.
"I promise you, that we will choose the best detail for, Violet."
"I personally want to make the selection then." Grayson nodded, not seeming to care what demands my brother made.
"And I want us to rig her apartment with a better alarm system."
"Deal. Anything else?" Grayson seemed genuinely sincere when he asked that.
"I need you to promise me that you will watch out for her as well. Please Gray, promise me" Will was staring him down so hard I thought they might end up punching each other.
"You have my word. I will keep her safe." Will still seemed reluctant to give in, but they embraced each other nonetheless, solidifying the promise made.
Will turned to me again, his face as serious as I have ever seen it. By the look he was giving me, I wanted to duck and hide under the couch.
"You shouldn't have hid this from me, Vi. What if something seriously bad happened and you got hurt?" There was a slight tremble in his hands, along with his voice.
"I'm sorry, Will. But nothing happened, I'm okay." He pinched his mouth, biting back his words.
"You are all I have left, Violet. If something happens to you..."His voice nearly cracked at the end, and it brought fresh tears to my eyes. I stood up and walked over to him, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Nothing bad is going to happen, Will. You won't lose me." I tried to sound as convincing as I could, but not even I believed my own words. Was I really going to be safe now? They were giving me a full-time bodyguard, but would that be enough? I shut my eyes and took a deep breath, willing away the building anxiety inside of me.
"If you need anything, you call me. You can tell me anything you know that, right Vi?" My brother's soft trembling voice pained my heart. This is exactly why I didn't want to tell him anything. It only makes him worry about me, when he already has enough on his plate every day.
"Yeah, I know." The feeling of guilt was going to eat me up from the inside out. He pulls away from the hug, places a kiss on the top of my head, and releases me to turn to Grayson again.
"I know there is still a few things to be done before the Italy mission, but I'm going to take the rest of the day off, Gray." My eyes widened at that and I started to protest.
"No Will, you can't skip work because of this." I looked to Grayson, hoping he would put down his foot and agree with me on the matter. That, apparently was wishful thinking. Grayson’s eyes quickly moved between Will and I, and then he gave his answer.
"I understand. Go spend the rest of the day with Vi. You don't have much time left before you have to leave anyway." I was astonished at Grayson’s willing to let Will leave in the middle of a work day. He just didn't seem like the type to care about these things.
"Thanks, Gray. I owe you one." Grayson scoffed at this, giving a slight smirk.
"You owe me plenty, but you don't owe me for this one." Grayson looked at me so intensely that my knees nearly gave out. What was that? I was pulled out of the stare by Will throwing his arm around my shoulders, dragging me to the elevator.
"Come on, Vi. Let's go home." I looked to my brother, giving him a soft smile. I was glad that he was allowed to leave and spend the day with me.
"What are we going to do?" I asked him.
"We could rent a few movies and just chill? Or we could play some video games?" I gave a little chuckle.
"No way, I suck at video games and always end up losing."
"That's not my problem." I playfully punch at him as he laughs at me, but he dodges my attack easily. We made our way back down to the lobby, waited for the valet to get Will his car, and drove to my place.
Lilli was no longer there, having left to go out with other friends of hers. I apologized for leaving her alone like I did and promised to make it up to her with a spa day next week. Will took the liberty og ordering food, and when it got to my place, my eyes nearly popped out of my head.
"Geez, Will. Is Grayson not paying you enough to afford food?" I laughed at his offended face.
"Excuse me, are you calling me fat?!" I gave him a once over, leaning my head from side to side, like I couldn't see past him.
"Well, you do look a little plumper that usual..." He gasped, placed a hand over his heart and threw his head back.
"Oh sister, you wound me!"
"Alright, drama queen, calm down."
"Drama queen?! Why you little..." I squealed as he started chasing me around the kitchen, and into the living room. We were laughing so hard my stomach was aching at the end. I haven't had this much fun with my brother in a while. We spent the rest of the day watching movies, stuffing our faces and cracking jokes, but the thought of the man chasing me never left my mind.
