Chapter 13

Nelly POV

After me, Garry and Jack leave the bar. It was hard keeping up with Garry's chat while my mind was running wild. I felt a strong urge to go look for Dan and ask him what was happening to me? Is he having the same feelings or am I just a crazy virgin girl drooling after him? I mean, I have seen many handsome men before, but something about Dan is different. I felt a strong pull towards him. I practically jump in the air when someone holds my shoulder.

Garry:"Whoa there! You OK sweetheart I have been calling your name for the past couple of minutes, and you were not there. Did something happen?"

I say in my head "Yeah I'm losing my mind over a guy I have just met hehe"

Nelly:"Sorry, I think I didn't have enough rest yesterday."

Garry:"It's OK darling, we're almost there. I've told you didn't need to come pick me up"

"I'm glad I didn't listen to you, Garry", I thought to myself, but I smiled and nodded to Garry. I need to ask him about Dan. I need to know more about him.

Nelly:"So... This new guy... Is he gonna work with us from now on?!"

Garry looks at me suspiciously with a raised eyebrow and I give him the most innocent puppy eye I could master. He sighs and says

Garry:"I don't think so. Timothy said that he asked for his help just this time since the bar was so crowded. I don't know if he will show up again,. He mentioned that he's been moving around between cities trying to find a place where he could settle and find a good job"

Working at the bar is a good job. I know Brooklyn is not the safest place but...but it's not that bad. Would he leave? This thought scared me for no reason. I don't even know him, for god's sake.

Nelly:"So he doesn't know anyone here?"

Garry:"We haven't talked much. He just told me that he's been moving around after he left the military and lost his family in the war"

That's sad!!

Garry:"Why are you so interested?! You've never asked questions about anyone like that. Do you maybe like him?"

Garry stared at me with the widest smile. My own cheeks hurt just looking at him.

Nelly:"What?! NO!! I'm just curious. He was a bit weird. That's all" I say, blushing like crazy and I know Garry read right through my lies. He laughed and hugged my shoulder.

Garry:"Finally my baby girl is interested in someone. If Martha heard about this she's gonna hunt down that boy and lock him up in our basement hahahaha"

Nelly:"Please don't say that to aunty Martha. She'll grill me"

Garry:"Yeah, That's my O'Lady alright. You know I fell for her the first time I saw her. She was the most beautiful girl I I had ever seen, but she didn't give me the time of the day to even ask her out hahaha"

Nelly:"Then what did you do?!"

Garry:"I went to her father of course. He was a tough man. He grilled me for an hour then invited me to dinner. Later on she finally agreed to go out with me and I proposed on our fourth date."

The whole time Garry was talking the smile didn't leave his face. My heart fluttered listening to their story and I couldn't help imagining me and Dan together dating, holding hands, kissing, then maybe a little hugging, then I would invite him to have a drink in my apartment, he wouldn't miss a chance to touch me while we are chatting then..... I stop my hyper-active imagination and blush furiously. I'm defiantly losing it!!!

We finally reached my apartment. I hugged Garry goodbye and go upstairs with Jack. I made sure to lock the door, sat on my small couch with Jack laying his head on my lap and I wondered "Will we meet again?! Can I give myself a chance?!"

In an abandoned warehouse far from Brooklyn

Jason:" Good morning boss"

Leader:"Report on yesterday"

Jason:"Of course, we hit a few bars and managed to recruit a total of ten new promising candidates"

Leader:"Hemmm, Any thoubles?!"

Jason:"No boss, but in one bar there was a bouncer, most probably an ex-soldier. He refused to talk to me because he didn't want to lose his job. I gave him my secured line number, and I'm waiting for his call. If he joins us, he'll be my ... I mean our best recruit in so long"

The leader stood from his chair and went to Jason with a dark gloomy look on his face. Jason was nervous but stood straight and controlled his emotions very well.

Leader:"Remind me what happened the last time you came to me and gave me the same speech ... Oh yeah HE TURNED OUT TO BE A SPYYYYYY!"

Jason flinched and couldn't help his trembling anymore.

Jason:"I..I swear I won't make the same mistake twice sir. I'll be very careful."

Leader:"Good, If you want to keep your head you'd better not disappoint me ... Now how is our prisoner?!"

Jason:"We are interrogating him every day, sir, but he's not giving us anything. He's still repeating the same story."

Leader:"Then torture him, break him I want to know who sent him here, who is he working for and if he has any information about those freaks how many are they? Where are they located? NOOOOOW"

Jason muttered a "Yes sir" and ran out of the leader's office quickly to go to the spy's cell and get answers from him as soon as possible, or he wouldn't survive for long.

Just when he was almost there to the cell his phone range .

Jason:"Hello"

Dan:"Hello Jason, I's Dan I'm the bouncer we talked yesterday, and you gave me your number."

Jason:"Oh yes, good to hear from you Dan. Are you ready to hear my job proposition?"

Dan:"I just want you to know that I'll be listening only, If I don't like your offer I'll just go and we won't have any problems. Is that OK with you?"

Jason:"Hahahaha Dan many people would die for this opportunity"

Dan:"This is my condition to hear you out if you're not OK with it. Cool, but if you're not, you can get anyone from those people"

Drake was praying that he hadn't pushed Jason so hard, but since Mike was compromised, anyone who'd show so much interest in joining them would be a suspect too. He just hoped that they were the right people and don't turn out to be a mob or a gang.

Jason:"You're calculative Dan, that's another thing to like about you hahaha. Fine, I'll text you the timing and location of our meeting"

Dan:"Good"

Jason:"Oh and Dan, I don't have to tell you what would happen to you if you try anything funny, do I?"

Dan:"No you don't" and he hung up

Minutes later Drake receives a message from Jason with the timing and the location.
