Chapter 5

Meta Headquarters

It's been a month since Mike went on the mission assigned to him by John while the others remained in The Meta Headquarters following up with his updates and reporting back to Serge, all day they did nothing other than training, following up with Mike, eating and sleeping.

A couple of years ago they also started recording any charges they experience with their bodies or powers.

There were some common powers they all shared like super strength, the ability to connect together telepathically and use their powers together as a unit and the ability to move objects with their minds.

However each one of them had a special power that the others didn't have which they called a "Skill".

Serge was the first to experience his skill manifesting within him which was Hypnosis, he could basically mind control people, make them do or say whatever he wanted.

Second was Don who could wipe someone's memories clear or select a certain memory and erase it in the beginning they though they all have the same power but while they were escaping both Don and Steve went to the labs to erase the scientists' memories of everything related to their research but Steve found out that only Don was successful in doing it so they all understood that it was Don's skill only.

Then it was John whose skill manifested while they were escaping from the Military Facility where they were held, John could emit an aura around him that could protect him and whoever near him if he chose to expand it and he even could attack someone with it, when he gets angry people find it hard to breath around him literally.

Next was Mike who found out that he could read people's minds and even see their memories with only one touch, he had a lot of fun with his skill when it first manifested he wanted to know every embarrassing memory in his brothers' past they were always running away from him to avoid getting touched till Serge had enough with their constant fighting and threatened Mike he would make him wear a dress and go out in the rain and dance all night till he fainted, that made Mike stop harassing the guys immediately as him and everyone knew that Serge would always carry out his warnings.

Then Steve when his skill manifested none of them noticed in the beginning as it was developing by time, Steve was always the smart guy in the unit they used to call him 'brains' but after taking the boost his intelligence multiplied day after another he could be the smartest human on earth he could solve the most complicated equations in a matter of seconds, during the war Steve had a huge role in planning 100% success rate strategies he was also a computer genius he could hack the old government systems and track down their targets.

As for Drake even after 5 years he hasn't developed any special skill all his brothers and even John tried to be considerate around him so he won't feel like there's something wrong with him but he always had this feeling that he wasn't special as the others and there was something wrong with him maybe the boost was supposed to kill him but he miraculously made it.

He tried to avoid these dark thoughts and even tried to compensate his feeling of inferiority by jumping in the face of danger whenever there was a dangerous mission he would be the first to volunteer thinking that even if something happened to him it wouldn't be a big loss for the unit since the others were more important.

Steve as the smartest guy could easily read through his behavior and tried to help him but Drake has always been stubborn and refused his help.

The boost didn't affect them physically and mentally by time they all found out that it affected them emotionally after taking the boost they discovered that they couldn't form any emotional bond with people outside their unit sure they could still feel respect and appreciation but not love or se*ual attraction, it started with John after he escaped from the facility he contacted his wife but when he did he didn't have the same emotions he had before while she was in tears crying and laughing at the same time thanking God that John was safe John couldn't feel the same love he felt before in fact he felt a bit irritated by her then he felt guilty and faked happiness till he couldn't take it anymore and they both decided to go their separate ways.

The rest of the guys thought that maybe the horrors they experienced at the facility affected John so much he couldn't be happy with his wife anymore.

One night after the war ended the boys decided to go to a bar and celebrate of course the city was not safe specially at night but they were the most powerful people on the planet nothing could hurt them, after they arrived at the bar they couldn't feel the same thrill they used to feel when they when out to places like this the half naked women throwing themselves at them didn't do anything to them it was like they were dead inside.

Mike was the most affected by this he thought that the scientists have killed his Mikey junior and he spent a week morning the loss of it he even tried pushing himself by hooking up with random women but with no success.

Steve did all kinds of researches to find an explanation but there was nothing physically wrong with any of them that could keep them from having a se*ual intercourse so he said that it might be psychological and they only needed some time however 5 years later and there was no progress they were all agitated and some of them accepted that they would live the rest of their lives alone without the joy of having a girlfriend, wife or even children.

They guys were on the training field training since there has been nothing else to do when Steve barged in running and out of breath

Steve: "Guys we have a problem I think Mikey is in trouble"

"WHAT!!!" they all shouted at the same time, Steve ran back to his lab and the others followed him quickly dropping whatever they were doing.
