Chapter Ten“I can't drink anymore,” Hema was frowning at the cup full of water, clutched in her hands. “You're supposed to drink a pint, aren't you?” Will reminded her gently. “My bladder is full,” Hema replied, “how much longer are we going to wait?” The maternity block of Ambleside Hospital was busy, staff hurried past them, indistinct blurs in blue uniforms, some clutching papers, others wheeling patients, linen and drugs. A man with a mop swiped at the floor next to them. Will wrinkled his nose at the strong smell of disinfectant, and ladies perfume.
