CHAPTER 5 - THE DECISION

1052 Words
"Are you sure you are perfectly okay?" Dr. Jones asked Cece, being concerned about her well-being. "Of course I am," Cece replied, "and besides, there is a ride waiting for me outside; you do not need to worry about anything." "Okay, Cece, just make sure you are fine and you are not thinking about anything." "Okay, Dr. Jones," she replied with a laugh. Cece stepped outside and, not long after that, a yellow Ferrari was heading towards her. Cece never flinched; the Ferrari parked, standing right in front of Cece, and the glass of the passenger seat of the Ferrari was rolled down. "A hobo looks better than you," Kendra said to Cece. "Hey, watch it," replied Cece. "Look at yourself; you look like something that was given to the school clinic for free. I mean, I love you, but the way you look right now is not doing it for me," said Kendra. Cece burst into laughter, and Kendra followed after. "Can I enter the car, Sherlock Holmes?" Cece asked. "Of course, if you promise to do whatever I ask of you," Kendra said. "And what might that be?" Cece asked. "You'll see, you'll definitely see," replied Kendra. Cece was reluctant at first. "Okay, fine," she said with a cool voice. "Okay, enter baby girl, enter in," urged Kendra. Cece entered the car and slapped the seat belt on. Kendra stepped on the gas like it owed her money. "Easy there, tiger. I'm trying to stay alive here," Cece said. "Relax, you big baby," Kendra dismissed her worry. "So, when will you tell me what really happened?" Kendra asked as well. Cece sighed, coming back to her reality, the reality that had almost driven her to her grave. "I really don't want to talk about it," Cece said. Kendra hit the brakes and turned off the car. "Be real with me, girl," she said to Cece. "What really happened to you?" Kendra asked. "Freddie is a big jerk. I never knew Freddie could hurt me the way he did. He brought another lady into our home on his birthday, which was yesterday by the way. He told me she is carrying his baby. He stole my NeuroSpark Innovation and, to top it all off, he came to the hospital yesterday demanding that I sign the divorce papers so that he can marry Amelia," Cece carefully narrated. "Did you give him the divorce papers?" Kendra asked. "Of course, I gave them to him," Cece replied. "But why?" Kendra asked. "I just wanted to part ways with him," Cece said. "You know, there is a part of me that believed it's April Fool's, but I was totally wrong." "Such a big jerk," said Kendra. "Just so you know, if I see him right now, I would totally hit him with this car and then report myself to the police." "You hate him that much?" Cece asked. "Yes, I do," Kendra replied. "The little tolerance I had for him was because of you. Thank God you heeded my warning, not revealing to him that your father is a billionaire." "You know I was this close," said Cece, raising her hand with the index finger and the following one almost touching, "to telling him. I have always felt guilty for keeping things from him." "Do you still feel guilty now?" Kendra asked. "Not at all," Cece replied. "So what is your plan moving forward?" Kendra asked. "I have none," Cece replied. "Come on, Cece. You know what you must do; you just don't want to do it because of what you did three years ago," said Kendra. "I cannot go home. I left without their blessing. They warned me not to marry Freddie, but I was choked up by his love. I don't know if my parents would welcome me back," Cece said. "Why do you say that?" Kendra asked. "Because I wouldn't welcome me back," Cece replied. "Well, you should be glad you are not your parent," Kendra said. "So it's time for you to stop living like someone without any relations. You are Hamilton's only daughter; they will be happy to see you, I promise you," Kendra affirmed. Cece sighed heavily. "I don't know, Kendra. It still seems like a bad idea," she added. "Okay, remember when I said you could come into this car if you do whatever I asked you?" Kendra asked. "Yes," Cece replied, looking at Kendra with suspicion. "This is what I want you to do: you will go back home," Kendra said. "Come on, this is torture for me," said Cece. While she was saying this, Kendra picked up her phone and called Tony, the personal assistant to Cece's father. As soon as Tony picked up, Kendra raised a finger up, signifying Cece should hold on. "Hey Tony," Kendra greeted him. "Hi Kendra, it's been a while," Tony replied. "Yes, it has, Tony. I've been so busy lately," Kendra replied. "I have a quick question for you, Tony. How has Mr. Hamilton been doing concerning Cecelia running away from home?" "To be honest, Mr. Hamilton has not been happy for a while now. He talks about Cece every time he gets the opportunity. How I wish my Cece could come back home right now," Tony replied. "So you mean Mr. Hamilton would be happy if Cece came back home?" Kendra asked. "He would be extremely happy," Tony replied. "Thanks, Tony. That's all I wanted to know," Kendra said. "Bye for now." "Bye, Kendra," replied Tony. "You heard Tony, right?" Kendra said as she faced Cece. "Yes," Cece solemnly replied. "This is proof that your parents will welcome you. Stop living like there is no one to care for you." Kendra's words really got to Cece, and she agreed to go back home to her parents. Kendra had been Cece's best cousin. Once Cece agreed to go back home, Kendra started the car again and stepped on the gas as though she was heading towards a finish line, while Cece took her time to sleep in the car. Soon after driving for a while, she woke Cece up; she had already parked the car. Cece opened her eyes, and what she saw was not what she was hoping to see. "Why did you bring me here, Kendra?" Cece asked.
