Chapter 7

My head is pounding and my mouth is dry. There is a humming in the distance and I think there is an announcement playing overhead but I can't quiet register it just yet. 

I wonder how long it has been since we've been asleep. I wonder where we are, are we safe?

"Wye?" I mumble. Remembering how he didn't go to sleep with us. I hope it hasn't been too long and he's still with us. The knowing feeling I had when I told him to stay awake was he would be happier if he did. I can only guess it was because of a girl. I wonder if they had kids and what they look like. 

"Mommy?" I hear Ashlyn say in her sleeping voice. Well she still sounds like my baby so maybe it hasn't been too long?

I groggily  looked to my right where Ashlyn was cuddled to me. She looked like she hasn't aged a day but in reality I am aware that it has been a few years already. 

"Hey pixie." I said with a smile. "It looks like it's time to wake up love." 

I am aware of another presence in the room besides my family. I look over and see a medic talking with my brother. He looks up and smiles at me then continues to look around at the rest of the group. 

The medic comes up to me with a small paper cup with a few pills in it for us to take. I'm guessing the pills are to help us wake up and our muscles to come back to life so we can get up. While I set up, with the medics help, I notice Leon helping Alaric up. Those pills must work fast if he's already able to get up. 

About five minutes after Ashlyn and I took the pills I could feel the affects, I could also see Ashlyn getting wiggly and ready to take off. I chuckle and shake my head as I help her down. She is automatically running to Liz and Leigha, almost tackling Leigha to the floor. 

"Morning Shell family!" I looked over to the door and saw good old High Honor Rowe doing nothing else but looking at Liz's direction with fondness. I couldn't help but shake my head at the sight. 

"Are we sure it's morning High Honor?" I ask with a bit of teasing in my voice and I swore I heard Liz chuckle in my head. 

He looked at me with a bright smile and twinkle in his eyes. "Of course we are Ellie. . . Well at least for us it's morning as we wake from our long nap." He says with a chuckle as he dragged out the word long. "Any ways, I'm on my way to debriefing to find out our progress and why we are being woken. Everyone should meet in the lunch hall in about an hour.  Leon you need to come with me as well of course."

"Of course High Honor." Leon says a bit gravely as his vocals are still trying to warm up. He stands up and pats Alaric's shoulder as he makes his way to Maria and gives her a quick smooch then follows Rowe out the door to the corridor. 

I look over to Alaric, my handsome little buddy with his momma's sights. He looks over to me sensing my stare. He smiles at me and gives me a thumb up. Yea we are right on track. Alaric and I visited each others dreams as we slept and spoke of each others visions. 

I still don't have all the pieces together but it feels like we are almost home. Some of the dreams were confusing but I kept seeing visions of my father. Some were memories and others were almost a fairy tale.
