“Another Mate”
POV Ayesha
I wake up the next day and I’m alone. When I run into Thanatos, he doesn’t even look at me. It’s like he’s forgotten what I mean to him. I see no flashes of Salem anymore in Thanatos’ eyes. Stella starts howling again. She wants to kill the witch.
A few weeks later, we’re getting closer to the night of the ball, and I find out Thanatos and Julia have set a wedding date.
The guests start to arrive. One of them is Thanatos’ brother, Uncle Darwin. He avoids Thanatos but follows me everywhere. He keeps bringing me small gifts of flowers, and jewelry and chocolate.
I’m busy working in the garden when Darwin brings me lunch on a tray.
