Enzo was right, this place was absolute s**t. All night I was terrified that at any moment, someone would just burst through my door and demand money, or that the cops would charge through with anger in their faces ready to take me to prison for the rest of eternity. I know, a tad bit dramatic, but that was all I had to expect in such a run-down place like this. I had spent most of the night with my finger on the green button signifying that I was to call Enzo, but I didn't. I couldn't work up the courage to dial his number and actually talk to him. It would be too humiliating. Not only did he have to buy me food because I was starving, but he wanted to do it again. Today. I glance at the clock in the room, it was around four thirty in the afternoon and Enzo said he would be here at six to pick me up and take me out. I had no other way to spend my time but watch television and present I didn't hear the sounds of loud screwing coming from next door. The sound was loud, and it shook my picture frames on the wall. I had the television turned up to the max as I attempted to drown out the sounds of violent s*x. As I scrolled through playing whatever game that was on my phone, there was a banging at the door. I climbed off the bed and opened it. It was the same lady from the front desk with a bored look on her face. I was ready to tell her that I had until tomorrow, but she began talking first. "Turn TV down." she said. I scoff, "Um, next door-" "Turn TV down or leave. You are upsetting my customers." she said, and then walked away. It took all of me to not slam the door shut as I walked away from it. I closed it and turn the TV down to a comfortable 67. Maybe that would be considered politer. Deciding I needed some destruction, I picked up the phone and dialed my old roommate, Willa Morgan. Willa and I had been friends for as long as I could remember but she had gotten a new job opportunity that required her to go half way across the country. I was upset with her for ruining our plans at first, but now I missed her. I missed her more than anything else. I also missed my mom, hell, I missed Waterloo. The phone rang twice and then it went to voicemail. She was either busy or had a death wish for not answering my call. I didn't have time to call my mother, who would have me on the phone for hours on hours. So, I decided to just begin getting ready. I didn't have any more fancy clothes to whoo Enzo, so I was hoping my jeans and tank top and jeans and jacket would do. As I began brushing my curly hair, there was another knock on the door. I glanced at the TV, it wasn't even loud. I furrow my eyebrows and walked over to the door as the knock began to get harder. I swung it open and was shocked that it was Enzo standing there. Wearing a black t-shirt with dark jeans and heavy boots. He looks hot, and well, angry. "I was hoping that that wasn't your moans that I was hearing." Enzo chuckles softly. I blush, he was referring to my neighbors who were on round two, easily. "You're early." I said with half of my hair curly and the other straight. "I don't mind waiting." Enzo said, stepping into the room and having a seat on the bed. I walk back to the bathroom and finish my hair, "I leave tomorrow morning, so I guess it's not that bad for a two day stay." I was only trying to make it seem like I wasn't as pathetic as I looked. "Where are you going afterwards?" Enzo asked. Good point, a good point that I had absolutely no answer to. Thankfully, Enzo spoke again, "I am willing to pull strings at Red Hot to ensure that you get a job if that's what'll keep you to following your dreams." I nearly dropped everything in my hands at that, I stepped out the bathroom and looked at Enzo who was watching the TV, as if he didn't offer me an opportunity that would change my entire life. "Really?" "Of course, you couldn't handle liquor but I am sure with the right persuasion, Leo can find you something to do." Enzo says, "So what do you say?" "Yes." I said exhaling a sigh of relief. "You can start whenever you're ready, except tonight. Tonight, we have a date." Enzo said. I smile softly at Enzo, then I return back into the bathroom to straighten the rest of my hair. Was this man real? I mean he couldn't be. He was extremely handsome, extremely chivalrous and he was damn near changing my life around for the better. I had to keep my head clear and not think too much into this guy. Everything in my gut wanted me to overanalyze this guy and ask all of the important questions, starting with 'Why Me?' but I decided to just go with it. My life was boring, not even a bit of it had been interesting and now here I was, getting the best live action play of my life and it was staring me. I wasn't going to fight it. This guy could be my biggest mistake, but I wasn't going to think about it. I was just going to let it play out, painfully or amazingly. I stepped out of the bathroom with the other half of my hair straightened. Enzo was on his phone, texting someone vastly. I walked up to him and smiled, resting my hand on his shoulder and smiling, Enzo looked up at me, his eyes finding mine instantly. "Are you ready?" Enzo asked. "Yeah, where are we going?" I asked Enzo. Enzo smirked, "No questions, I don't want you to ruin a good surprise." "Well am I at least dressed appropriately?" I asked. Enzo looked me up and down, be reached out and took my and slowly turned me around. I could feel his gaze on my ass for moments too long before he turned me back around to face him, "Perfect." I laugh at how smooth his flirting was. "Thank you." I smile. "Let's leave before I trap you in here and give your neighbors competition." Enzo winked and I nearly swooned. Enzo took my hand and lead me out of the room, closing the door behind him. As we walk down the hallway, Enzo holds me close to his side, as if he could protect me from the filth around us. When we step outside I see him visibly give a breath of relief as he held open the door to his sleek black car that stood out in the neighborhood. Once he was settled in next to me, I looked at him. "You seem more freaked out about the place more than me." I tease lightly. Enzo only shrugged as he started the car. The silence made me uneasy, so I decided to spark up conversation. "How do you know the owner of the club?" I asked. Enzo shifted, keeping his eyes on the road, "Mutual friends. I was only visiting." I nod, "He is a total asshole, no offense." "Why? What did he say?" Enzo asked. "It was nothing really, he just totally disregarded me. Contrary to popular belief, I'm broke." I said, laughing. Enzo smiles, "I'm still not sure how you ended up in the city, broke." I smile, "My life sucks, I make so many bad decisions and for some reason I thought things would change if I got to the city, but obviously I was wrong." "What bad things happened in Waterloo?" Enzo asked casually. "Boys, mostly. Well I should say boy, he was a total s**t head. Once I found out he was into drugs and crime, I left as soon as possible. I don't want to be roped up in stuff like that. It really changed when he tried to attack me, I totally freaked and that was when I realized I wanted to leave." I say leaning back and watching the traffic surrounding us. "Attacked you how?" Enzo asked. I didn't look him in the face when I answered his questions, but I still felt obligated to answer his questions. Not out of force but because I needed someone to trust, and I needed someone to trust me. I was alone in New York, but I was not going back to Waterloo. "He was a druggie, he was so strung out and I didn't know what to do. He had this thing where he didn't like to be denied anything. Clay was entitled to whatever he wanted." I shake my head, "Anyways, he attacked me." Enzo didn't press in my sudden retrieval of the conversation, he only gripped the steering wheel and relaxed. When we came to a red light, he turned to me, "I am glad you came to New York." I smile and look away, "You make me blush." "Only because I like to see it." Enzo smiles. The rest of the ride was decorated in silence. After about an hour I began to get hints on where we were going. There was a large sign that said 'Coney Island' laid in wait as me and Enzo pulled up outside of the place that I only dreamed about as a little girl. I actually felt like a little girl as I watched the lights and all of the people, running around. Enzo looked to find a parking spot. My body was humming in excitement by the time that he finally parked that I leaped of the car and ran around to his side. Enzo climbed out the car, laughing and once he stood up, I hugged him. "You must be a mind reader because you took me to a place I dreamed of most of my life." "I'm not a mind reader, you just dream of everything big in this city. I just wanted to take care of your travels in the case that you decide New York City is no good for you." I think the city is treating me just fine. "Let's go inside!" I squeal, jumping into his arms. Two hours, and many screams later, I was still filled with energy while Enzo seemed to drag behind me. I turn to him; his hands were in his pockets as he looked around as we strolled down the board walk. "Why are you walking so slow?" I asked. Enzo smiled, "Do me a favor and buy us some popcorn? I have to use the bathroom." I smile as Enzo hands me a ten-dollar bill and walks away quickly. Well that would explain his slow pace. It seemed as though Enzo was a daydreamer, he was studying the crowd around us immensely and he nearly seemed distracted. Almost as if he was looking for someone. While it waited, I decided I didn't want popcorn and that I wanted cotton candy. The line there was shorter and once I got two large bundles of cotton candy, I walked over to the bars that separated the sand from the board walk and sat on the bars. I saw Enzo looking around for me and when he caught my eyes from across, he smiled. I waved the cotton candy at him and smiled. Enzo walked over to me and took his candy, "This popcorn looks different." I smiled, "I know right. It's pink." Enzo took the cotton candy out of my hands and leaned in quickly to kiss me. I was so shocked that I nearly fell from the bars onto the sand, luckily Enzo's hands wrapped around me and began kissing me again. I sighed into his kiss, resting my weight into his arms and began kissing him back. The kiss was slow, painfully slow, but it felt so good. It was as if the kiss held untold promises that made me one thousand percent invested. When he softly bit my bottom lip, my stomach clenched and something else inside of me was awakened. Lust. Enzo pulled away just then and looked me in my eyes, "Thank you." "For what?" I asked. "For giving me your time." Enzo smiles. I nearly wanted to cry at how sweet he was being, "You have to be someone's lost Prince Charming." "Not yours, you assume?" "Hell no, you're too perfect. Are you some sort of serial killer?" I asked. Enzo chuckles, "You are adorable." I sigh, "We should stop now if you have intentions to break my heart or something. I'm far too fragile." "Honestly, I'm not a man who dates, ever. But you compel me and entice me. I'm a man who isn't evenly compelled." "I can't tell." Enzo smiled, "Come with me, I still have another surprise for you." "Where is it?" "415 Madison Avenue." Enzo winks.
