"Mother…" I choke on my tears.
I didn't know my mother went through so much pain. I only thought that she was weak and afraid to cross Bane and be a mother to me.
Who would have thought..
"But now that you are back,maybe I can hold on a little longer. Long enough to help you and see Bane fall."She touches my face again, her fingers trembling.
"I'm going to save you, mother." I say firmly. "I'll find a way to reverse the poison and heal the damage…"
"Penelope." My mother's voice is gentle but firm.
“ Take a look at me.The poison has been in my system for so long .
My organs are failing and my body is breaking down piece by piece. Even if you stopped the poison today, the damage is already done." Her voice is defeated, like she has already accepted that her end is approaching.
