The aura of Ylgaea had become reddish. Although not everyone were surprised nor shocked. What do I mean by not everyone?
It's because Elio seems to be smiling.
Now what are the odds that you'll see an adventurer smile over something peculiar? Maybe this person ain't really who I think he is. He's just unexplainable, mysterious and optimistic — well wouldn't really not judge a person whom I just met — but he's suchan active guy. He's full of curiousities and questions though he had been in this world longer than me.
"So it's coming." he said as he smirk.
I glanced at him and still felt the same exciting yet doubtful aura of him. He's wrapped with smile and energy as if this is something he has been loking forward to.
"I've been looking forward to this day!" he exclaimed.
He looked at me and started randomly patting every part of my broad body — including my head too. He cannot stop shaking and giggling every corner.
Then something flashed in front of our screen.
"The island of experiences will be open after two days. Prepare your team and join forces for experience multipliers. Remember though that you must not forget the major rule of all, never expose your true identity."
That's when I realized this ought to be the thing that Elio is excited about.
"The Island of Experiences is where players get overloading amount of experiences to increases their skill points and stats." he explained.
Come to think of it, I have available skill points as I had seen earlier but I haven't really placed any of them yet.
"Ylgaea gives people two days to train before entering the island of experiences. It is composes of various monsters that gives random amount of experience points that can be traded into skill points." he continued.
"So, before we enter it, we must train hard!" he said with a smile and a fist like he's all fired up.
He grabbed my hands and looked at me aaying, "Come with me! We cannot waste anymore time!"
He rushed towards somewhere while dragging me. I can feel his excitement for this event but what about me who doesn't really care that much? I am still new to this world so I still know almost nothing. The place we were going seems to be off-kingdom as I notice that we went outside through the back part of the kingdom.
He continued walking and walking until we reached the center of the vast open field outside the kingdom of Hergrinct. The center of the field is covered in trees though, may be considered as a forest. Then upon entering it, a few minutes of walking and it lead us to a unique treehouse.
The body is made up of actual tree stem while the upper part is like a cabin house except it is bigger.
"This is where we will train." he said.
I scanned the place clearly to take a better view of it. This may be where Elio lives, I concluded.
"This is my place. This is where I have been ever since I started living in this world. I must say it's not easy building a place on your own without any peers." he said.
I glanced at him and saw a smile on his face. I looked at him carefully, I scanned his very body which can help in deducing who he really is. His broad body gives signs that he is a trustworthy guy. He seemed to be friendly, but it looks like he doesn't have that much of peers. Or does he even have one?
He started walking towards the stairs leading upwards.
He glanced at me at the middle of the ladder and waved his hand at me while his other hands supports his body, "Come on Aljinn! What are you waiting for?!"
I can feel the happiness and excitement in him. I felt the smile on my face too climbing up on my cheeks. I rushed towards the ladders and caught up with him while going up.
When we arrived at the top, his house is not that big if I'll be honest. It looks like he built the place on his own for only himself I guess. Upon entering the house, the place is as tidy as a minimalist. Although there are a bunch of stuff inside his house, the tidiness is what makes the place wide.
I wander inside his house, checking out all his items and materials, "Do you live all by yourself?" I asked
He gave a little bit of a sigh before he answered, "In fact I do. I got no one to live with me to be honest."
His sigh is understandable that he's disappointed or feeling alone.
"I could use a roof." I told him.
"Of course you do." he said with a laughter.
Perhaps he didn't understand what I meant.
"I mean do you want me to live here too? If that's alright with you." I explained.
"You will?!" he exclaimed.
"Sure, I mean you can guide me about this world." I told him.
"Then welcome home, Al!" he said with a smile.
This is one of the small things I could oay him for saving my ass up earlier to that shade. Without him I wouldn't be standing here in his house.
My eyes stumbled upon one of his items. It is a photo frame of him with another guy. The photo is aesthetic enough for me to understand the situation of the photo. The photo seemed to be taken though below his treehouse and the twp seemed to be cloosed. I deemed to be understanding enough to not ask questions but curiousity is what always gets me into trouble.
"Who is this?" I asked.
He looked at me and glanced at the frame I was holding. I returned it immediately to its place after realizing I had asked him about the photo.
"Actually, I have no idea either." he said.
"What I know is that I'm the one on the photo along with someone else. But I have no idea who that person is on the photo. I have always kept it inside the treehouse in case the person in the photo returns and tells me about our memories together. But there seemed to be no luck." he explained.
There are some words of his the just contradicts. I can't seem to get hold of it all but I am about to deduce something.
"However, you told me that you came in here not so long." I asked.
He nodded and smiled at me, "Indeed, that's what all I to be honestly remember. I know that I am new in here but I have no idea what is that."
This world is full of mysteries. Yet I am feeling no doubts at all. My instincts seemed to be all calm as if there's just nothing to worry about.
"Are we here to talk about myself or to train? Come on let's go downstairs!" he exclaimed.
He rushed downwards without thinking if I am following him. He doubtlessly jumped as if it is all okay but I felt the sudden fear of him doing something inevitably unexplainable because of the clues of what is going on with his life.
I rushed towards the door to check if he's alright and saw that he's perfectly unwounded.
"Come on! Stop staring from above nothing will improve if we'd both be staring endlessly at each other!" he shouted from below.
I felt the shyness inside me after hearing thw words that just came out of his mouth. I disregarded for a moment the fact that something forget-worthy happened inside his house and that certainly is a bad memory.
I went down through the ladders and went straight to where he was. His place were some distance from the treehouse which seems like he's planning something.
He stretched his arms forward and murmured something, "Moonlight Mirage."
Suddenly a ball of light appeared in front of us. It's nimble and quick like afly. This one's faster though and seemed to be uncatchable. The ball of light wandered about for around a minute before it suddenly stopped moving back to where it was before.
"My affinity is moonlight." he said.
Come to think of it. This world is full of features I have not yet understand.
"What exactly is an affinity?" I asked him.
He glanced at me before he looked back directly to the light he judt summoned, "Affinities are most likely your element, your attribute, your power exactly. Each affinity has it's own variation and the variation depends on what you truly desire. Just like mine, my affinity is moonlight andd my varistion is static moonlight. Basically all of my abilities are related to creating living things out of purple light. My abilities has its life on its own. Without me controlling it, they can move on their own."
Then that's how I truly understand how this world works. Basically my affinity is art of illusion which my variation should depend on what I truly desire the most. But what is it that I truly desire the most?
"If you have no variation, then the only meaning is that you have not yet decided on what you truly desire. The world will designated the perfect variation for you snd all you have to do is think carefully about what will you summon." he explained.
"If you're ready, our first training would be sniping this little feelow with our abilities. Remember that we may use whatever abilities we have and that's all the rules." he said.
I nodded and went along with him. I tepped back as he take a stance. The little ball of light swiftly started moving around the whole tree house. The speed seemed to be faster noe than it ever was, I assume Elio did something about it.
He placed his scepter forward and a circle with a sign in it appeared. Then moments later on a bunch of smaller lights appeared in a shape of insects. The insects started flying towards where the ball of light was flying too and it seemed like it is targrtting the ball of light. Whether Elio is controlling it or not his moves are surely unique. The insects though seemed to be flying on it's own because Elio's hands are on rest.
The insects he had summoned were able to catch up with the flying ball if light. It took around a minute or so for the insects to catch up but I must say it is fast enough in catching something nimblr like what Elio had presummoned.
"So you wanna take your turn now?" he asked as he looked at me.
I noticed something in him as he glance at me. I saw tgat he was wearing a goggles the entire team that he summoned those living moonlight things. His goggles were purely purple but when he removed those goggles I saw the shine in his eyes. Not that shine when you find somebody attractive but some parts of his eyes were really shining. Is that some kind of side effect?
I walked straight to where he was standing and focus myself in front.
He walked right back at me and held my shoulders and explained to me, "Remember to focus very well and imagine tthe object thar you desire the most. The world has chosen that object for you already you just yet have to discover that. In order to do that, you must close your eyes and focus on the aura near you. Calm your mind up and focus that energy you sense in your mind. That way whatever will pop into your mind will take the form of the object into reality based on your affinity. "
I did what he had told me to but his hands touching my shoulders, I surely cannot focus and I do wonder why. It's like there's something inside me crying over something, likea. feeling I've known before but seems like I right now don't.
But I tried to focus.
I took a deep breath and imagined that one thing which is suppose to be my variation. I closed my eyes tightly and imagine csrefully. I focus the energy I am sensing around me into my mind and carefully teied to imagine the form of the object of my variation.
Then suddenly a light appeared. Something blinging and shining appeared in front me. The shape of the object is very clear and I can see it well. It's something I have seen before.
That's right.
I am pretty sure of the shape that I am seeing right now. I can sense it dwelling inside me, forming its shape as I reach out for more of what it truly is. In my mind, I can see very well what I am seeing, and so I focused on it. I gave more light into it, I made the image more clear.
Then when I opened my eyes, I see tens of them, or even hundreds, or maybe thousands. I see thousands of edgelights twirling as I look upon each and every one of them. I see the edgelights pointing exactly at the target I commanded it to look at: the sphere of light that Elio had summoned.
Then in one single word, in one single murmur, they all travelled immersely fast towards it, "Go."
Then the sphere of light was shredded into pieces until theres was nothing in sight anymore.
"I figured you had the potential to do something outstanding!" I heard Elio shout.
"But with that kind of skill, that is definitely not a human doing." he said.
Then I felt the sudden obligation to tell him what I really am. I felt inside me the heavy task of telling him what am I and what is my mission, because after all he witnessed it. He witnessed my abilities and capabilities. He witnessed it with his very own eyes hoenI summoned a thousand edgelight at first try and how it shredded his sphere of light until there was nothing in sight anymore.
"I have to tell you something." I told him.
