Battle of the Factions Arc: The Girl With No Magic I

I take a deep breath before I completely understood what I have just heard. It would seem impossible that we would get chosen again, and it is enough to be shocked but the fact that the same battle mechanics would be implemented again is what I just feared. With Elio in his current state none of us will be able to participate, the only option left for us is me. I have never tried using distance as my advantage instead I use the proximity between me and my target. If I were to compete in here, I’ll be forced to expose myself in front of everyone and compete in a close-ranged manner however that will not lead us to victory. I would rather prefer shooting stars than declaring a fight with my opponent.

Yes, I would ignore fighting instead.

The chosen opponent is Lightshades. It will give me a pure loss if I were to compete in this battle. I had thought of choosing Diether for this however Diether still hasn’t recovered from his last battle so we really have no choice. Since the battle is Midnight Shootout, the chosen representative for Lightshades is Heronn Vithius, the gun affinity user.

Based from what people had said about him, Heronn is really good in terms of shooting. He wields those guns just not for show and he has killed hundreds of people with that gun. His look is not as scary as how people describe him. Most of the time people describe him as someone who bathes with blood but his physique shows that he is that average type of guy.

“Representatives, please take your step forward.” Dio said.

The representative of Lightshades started walking towards his position. We still have no representative but if we have no choice left, I must step forward. I looked at Diether and saw him looking at me.

“Are you sure you’re going to do this?” he asked it.

I nodded at him and smiled.

“This is our only option.” I answered.

I took a deep breath before I started walking but then one blink, I saw someone in front of me walking towards our designated position. The person is wearing a brown cape with holes in it. The head is fully covered while the body is quite revealed. Under the brown cloak lies dark clothing with guns on each of the person’s waist. Judging the way he walks, he is definitely an experienced person in terms of battle but what I don’t understand is that why would he walk in front of us and where did he came from.

Upon reaching his destination, he lifted his cloak up and yellow hair flow along with the hood.

It wasn’t a boy, it is a girl.

The girl oddly looks familiar. I can’t sense any magic or energy inside her but her physique reminds me of someone I had seen before.

And I suddenly remember her.

Back in the island of experiences, I remember seeing her face. She is the one who saved me right after that lomocubus separated us. She even gave me a vial of energy for me to replenish.

“You.” I whispered.

She glanced at me with her eyes glowing red light, she then looked back into the battlefield preparing herself for the battle. She wielded both of her guns from her waist and loaded both of them up. The same aura I used to see from her started emitting again. The unique kind of red in her aura reminds me of how fearsome she was when she was trying to eliminate those shades from before.

I have the idea that she might actually represent for our team, but would she be able to bypass Dio?

She just kept on walking forward ignoring the fact that she is not an official member of our faction yet she is right there standing in our position to represent our faction.

I have not the slightest idea to why would she do this but I am glad enough that someone can take Elio’s place. Not to mention she is really good in accuracies and aiming so she is the best option that we have for this battle. Just like her, I ignored the fact that she is not an official member of our faction and let her do the rest.

Dio must have been tired the whole day that he took a deep breath before starting his count.

“On the shot of the gun that stars will appear. Get as many points as you can by shooting them and the winner will be concluded whoever has the highest amount of points.” he said.

“3, 2, 1” he said and immediately fired his gun.

The stars consecutively appeared one by one on top of the battlefield. Both the girl and Heronn are endlessly shooting with their guns. Their points increase by 5 every second as stars continue to reproduce.  The two of them are neither giving up nor slowing down. They both are at their highest will to win this competition but it just keeps on bothering me the fact that this girl is here doing this favor for us.

There is a possibility that she is doing this for something in return but what could she possibly want from someone like me? We have met each other two times now, and she had helped me in those two times that we had met but never did she tell me what she might possibly want from me.

A loud explosion covered the battlefield.

I immediately went out of my thoughts and looked at what could possibly be happening in the field. I saw a smoke covering the position where stars are spawning. The source of the explosion is unknown to me but it reading the ambience of the battlefield, it looks like the explosion was made on purpose.

I looked at the two participants to check out who might possibly start those explosions, and I saw instantly that it came from Heronn.

He is holding a clip from a grenade in his right hand while continuously shooting from his left hand. There is a surrounding aura around him showing that he is currently concentrated.

The points from our side started to increase slowly while the opposite happens on Heronn’s team. Our representative might probably be finding it hard to see the stars above her, not to mention if she can’t use magic then she can’t also perceive and locate them easily.

But she immediately proved me wrong.

The unique aura that she possesses started to concentrate again. It is still quite unknown to me about the fact that she manipulates a peculiar aura around her. As a god myself, I can’t seem to process this as much as I could and I am sure that neither Diether or Elio can see this too.

“Midnight Eye, call of the abyss!” she screamed.

In just a blink of an eye, she went back to her initial pace and started shooting again. This time, she is faster than she was shooting earlier and her points are sky rocketing just as fast as Heronn’s points. Again, the two of them are on the same boat.

There is a minor difference between the two’s accuracy though, there are instances when Heronn’s shot are missing while all of the girl’s shots never failed. Her accuracy is very well trained but her speed in shooting is not as fast as Heronn can do. Which makes the two of them equal.

“Are of Guns: Holy Radiating Beam!” Heronn casted.

Suddenly two long beams appeared out of Heronn’s guns, immediately eliminating groups of stars caught in the range of the beam. Just like before, stars continue to reproduce but the beam from Heronn’s guns stays in the field longer than I have thought. Due to that, the stars are spawning right exactly where the beams are and are immediately eliminated, giving points to Heronn’s team.

The beam dissipated after a few seconds however that gap between the points of the two competitors became bigger than I thought. Suddenly Heronn’s points are one hundred plus greater than our points, giving some kind of trouble to our representative. But even though the points of Heronn are greater now than she has, she did not flinch at all. She continued shooting from both of her arms with her eyes glowing with red light and the peculiar aura continues to revolve around her showing that she is more concentrated than before.

After a few shots, she stopped shooting. Heronn looks at her while shooting continuously, having a smile on his face. He might have thought that she already gave up and so did I. But her next action is what shocked all of us.
