[Aljinn]
I never thought that Johann and I will actually be teaming against the leaders of the other factions. That’s the last thing that I’d actually think of. Well, we are not teaming with each other legally – that is probably the best word I can describe on what we are doing right now – but any time soon we will be fighting each other no matter what the circumstance is.
The thing is, once your crystal is destroyed you should actually be out of the tournament, but it is so unexplainable to why Divine Resonance could possibly be fighting still even though their crystal is already destroyed.
Ignoring that fact, all four of us are still exchanging spells and attacks with each other while me and Johann are ignoring each other as if the other one doesn’t exist.
I decided to separate the two of them so that I can fight against someone without any interruptions. I didn’t choose who exactly to fight, I just grabbed the nearest person beside me and casted, “Art of Illusion; Altered Reality Sphere”
In a blink the two of us vanished from the real world just like how I vanished Elio, Diether and I. I thought I’d be lucky to fight someone on my own however, my opponent is not who I thought I’d actually pull towards this world.
I mean there is no choice, in order to preserve time, I have to grab someone as quick as I can and teleport the two of us inside this world so that I can easily end the faction leaders while saving up my energy. Truth be told, I don’t have enough energy left inside me and I know I don’t have the time to gather up because of the opponent I pulled in.
“What a lucky person.” he said.
I grabbed along with me Spencer from Volant Argonauts, the strongest in their faction and the hardest to fight in terms of mobility.
“Looks like I have no choice.” I told him.
“You sure do newbie. You sure do.” he told me.
“Eat your words until you’ve completely beaten me.” I told him.
“Such brave words, isn’t it?” he told me.
I didn’t hesitate answering him back. I immediately rushed towards him and started swinging my edgelights in his chest. He moves backwards as I swing my swords each second, dodging and evading my attacks.
As a person who has wings and has a very light body – and definitely one with the wind if that’s how birds possibly describe themselves – it is very easy for him to dodge and evade attacks coming right after him. However, just like everyone they also have a weakness. Being mobile and agile is useless if the opponent’s spells are all crowd-affecting spells like explosions – well they call it as area of effect spells.
None of my spells are area of effect types but rather projectiles or debuffs – those spells that degrades your opponents and weakens them in various ways. Illusion is not as easy to wield as it looks like in some normal shows where somebody creates illusion and manipulate them perfectly. Illusion requires intense focus into the image because a single mistake might make your illusion fail or unbelievable.
I continue swinging my edgelights towards him while he endlessly moves backward. This world I teleported both of us in doesn’t seem to have any limit to it. Everything is just white and that it looks like it is an edgeless place.
I know nothing will happen if I just continue swinging my swords towards him so after one swing, he moved back and I threw the sword on my right hand directly at him. He didn’t anticipate the move I did but still was able to dodge it.
“Quite the reflexes, right?” he told me.
“I must say I’m amazed.” I told him.
“Oh come on, don’t flatter me. We know here you should be the one looked up into because you’re definitely something, right god?’ he said.
My eyes widened with the last word that he dropped. I moved back a little bit from my position as my mind is being wrapped with confusion and panic.
I say, “What- what can you possibly mean?”
“It’s not easy distinguishing, but it’s not hard either.” he says with a smirk in his face.
“I must say you’re the very first one to notice.” I said.
“What do you mean? I’m not the only one.” he replied.
“What do you mean?” I asked him.
“Johann also knew from the start, but decided to hide it.” he told me.
“How can you possibly know that?”
“Do I really have to say how?”
He has a point. With someone like Johann, it could be possible that he already realized what I am from the very start however, there’s no point sulking and thinking about it now. I have to end this fight quickly before Johann destroys our crystal. I know Elio and Diether are both having a very hard time protecting our crystal so I must do my best too to defeat Spencer as quick as I can.
“There’s no point talking right now, I must finish you.” I told him.
“Quite the words.” he replied.
I called my edgelights again and cast, “Art of Illusion; Dance of a thousand blades!”
This spell might not possibly be the best spell to hit him but it should do enough to give me time to think of how I could defeat him. It’s funny though, ever since the round has started all I could think about is just buy myself some time to think how can this round fall into what I desire and not just move without thinking about it.
Maybe this time, thinking is not the proper option but to use everything I know in order to fight him. Learning while fighting isn’t the best tactic at all costs, sometimes the best tactic is just move forward and let time process the rest. That is exactly how Elio fights, he doesn’t hesitate whether he should use this or not, he knew he should even though sometimes he doesn’t feel like using it, he always ends up doing something he could have hesitated doing.
My blades immediately rushed towards him while he flies in the air and evade them flawlessly. His arms are both wrapped with purple energy that seems to be the cause of his flight ability. After all, birds requires feather to fly, but humans can only require energy in order to make it possible.
I jumped towards where he is while my edgelights continue to fly towards him. I can’t make myself fly that’s true, but the best option I have is to attack him from a distance. I want to be like Elio for once. I don’t want to be cautious over something, I just want to do what I want to do, I don’t want to hesitate, I want to move forward.
When he flew away from where I am mid-air, I threw both of the edgelights in my hands towards him, increasing the amount of swords flying that is projected at him.
I cast without any hesitation – because I want to be as strong as Elio, “Art of Illusion, Logrength Guardian!”
The guardian appeared behind Spencer. The size of the guardian is enough to add a limit to Spencer’s space when flying. He immediately hit the body of logrength guardian while my guardian just remains standing behind him waiting to move at my command.
“Sky Raven’s Gathered TormentingWinds!”
I totally forgot that he can also cast spells. It might just be me but everytime I’m fighting someone, when I make a move I always forget that people might actually counter it with their own spells. I have already seen this spell before; this is one of the strongest spells he possibly possesses.
The spell creates a very huge tornado in his position that slowly shreds everything in its way. Considering how logrength guardian is made, it will be just under a minute before logrength guardian completely becomes grinded by the sharp winds.
“False Reality!” I cast.
He became totally confused after I casted my spell. He doesn’t know how it happened but he knew that his spell cannot be sensed anymore. The energy that he was about to unleash instantly vanished as if it was cancelled.
“What?” he said.
“Go, logrength guardian!” I commanded.
The guardian immediately swings his hand towards Spencer in mid-air, hitting him with the palm of logrength guardian and being dragged down to the ground along with the weight of the guardian’s hand. After he was totally dragged down towards the ground, the guardian slammed the ground continuously, making sure that he will not be able to move again but we thought wrong, a simple consecutive smash in the ground is not enough to actually destroy the leader of Volant Argonauts.
“That’s not enough to actually destroy me.” he said.
I had predicted that he will still be able to stand up after taking consecutive hits from my guardian but I acted shocked anyways – maybe because some parts of me still can’t believe that someone might actually be able to withstand that much pressure not to mention it’s colliding with the solid surface of the floor.
He stands up with bruises and scathes around his body especially in his arms. I thought at first that my guardian’s attack was definitely useless but after realizing that he will be having a hard time flying in the air again after that series of continuous smash, I grieved by a little bit.
“You’re a god but you don’t know much about fighting don’t you? You’re still inexperienced. You are definitely new, are you?” he told me.
“It’s not my business now to tell you more about me. You might be able to know something about me, but that’s everything you can know about me.” I told him.
I called my edgelights in both of my hands again.
“Sky Wings!” he called right after I called my edgelights.
“Are you sure you still want to fly in your current condition?” I asked with concern.
Maybe even though we’re enemies in this battle, even though we’re fighting to the death in this tournament – just a very simple tournament – I still possess the feelings of caring for someone might they be an opponent or not.
Spencer is right after all. I think.
I’m not very much experienced in battle, and ever since I have been summoned here in Ylgaea I have never actually fought an actual person; monsters yes, but people no. Monsters and people are both different things which is why I don’t find it that hard fighting monsters although there are instances that I sweat, but it’s definitely normal to find something really hard to deal with because after all, in the end, if you worked hard enough to obtain something meant for you, it will and will always be for you no matter how fate changes.
We both rushed towards each other and started slashing and hacking at each other. He uses his arms with enhanced energy while I use my edgelights wrapped in pressure energy. I still have strength left to fight him in combat, but I can’t really do much at my current state.
I have to finish this now.
“I’m sorry.” I told him as I move back.
“What?” he asked.
“Art of Illusion; Concealing Truth.” I cast without hesitation.
I continued slashing him with every parts of his body. Before, I used to just aim towards where his weapon is so he can still block it and might possibly get tired from fighting but now, I need to finish this quickly. Elio and Diether are both waiting for me – well Percisca is definitely with them – and I just can’t let the three of them fight out there while I’m here stuck fighting Spencer.
After hitting his shoulder, it bled intensely. My eyes are slowly wrapped with emotionless reactions as I continue to s***h to every part of his body. He doesn’t have enough strength after what my guardian did to him and I’m thankful that I was able to pull something up like that.
He keeps on blocking my attacks with his arms wrapped with purple energy but as long as the battle goes, the energy slowly dissipates from his arms until it completely faded into thin-air.
After hitting Spencer continuously for a few seconds, I stopped immediately. I saw him on the ground with blood spreading around his body.
I immediately went back to my senses.
What have I done?! I didn’t mean to do something despicable and pathetic. I never meant and hoped to kill someone!
“Spencer?!” I call.
He wasn’t giving any response. I immediately rushed towards him and placed my palm in his chest to see if he’s still breathing.
He coughed but with blood.
“A god will always be a god, right?” he said.
“You should go out, Johann is still alive and you don’t know what is happening out there now. I may have lost this time, but one day we will fight again and that is the time we can finally see who is stronger.” he said.
I smiled at him with positive energy, “Should I wait for that opportunity then?”
He laughed.
