Battle of the Factions Arc: Four for Four

We ended up in the dark side in the middle of the forest. The three of us are looking at each other and are currently planning on what we should do next. Reading the current situation, there is a possibility that someone from another faction might attack us again as we have no idea what is the plan of the other factions.

“We should stay as a group and attack another faction’s crystal.” Elio recommended.

“As expected, you would recommend something foolish.” Diether told him.

“There’s nothing foolish in attacking another faction’s crystal. It’s the rules of the tournament.” Elio replied.

“The foolish part is where you think we could easily attack another faction’s crystal.” Diether told him.

“Diether has a point Elio. We cannot just simply attack another faction’s crystal because we don’t know much about our opponents yet. We didn’t even expect that somebody will come and rush towards us.” I told him.

“What should we do then?” he asked.

“I think we should wait for the move of the other factions. The best thing we could do right now is form our best defense to make sure that our crystal will not be exposed and destroyed easily. We still lack in defense.” I told them.

“Good point. We were rushed earlier without wrapping our crystal in defense. Our crystal could’ve been broken earlier if there were other people with him but instead, there is only one of him that decided to rush towards us.” Diether said.

“Let me do it then.” Elio said.

“Art of Moonlight; Skull Barrier.” he casted

Our crystal is immediately wrapped with purple energy shaped as a skull. I can’t determine if it’s a human skull or a monster’s skull but it served as a protection for our crystal.

“That’s not enough.” Diether said.

“It is not enough, but it should do.” I told them.

“No, I mean let me help too.” Diether said.

“Art of Silver Moonlight; Reigning Gospel.” Diether casted.

The crystal is now wrapped with more barriers with Diether’s spell.

“Let’s start moving.” I told them.

We all started walking towards unknown. The forest is too dark for us to see anything. If only Percisca is with us, then I guess we might have a goal to go to.

Right after the concealment guy and I escaped those two, I told him we can have our own separate ways.

The thing is, I never thought that I’d actually go back to the place where they are currently handling the tournament. The map had changed, based on the god’s message. He sent a mail to me earlier this morning right before the tournament started. He told me that the new map is bigger than yesterday and that it is a forest. With my midnight eye talent, I guess I can see where the new map is.

I went towards a dark alley to give it a shot.

“Midnight Eye; Enhanced Sight.” I whispered.

I enhanced my eyesight to the point where I can track down where the god is, and it worked. After a few seconds of showing blurred visions, a pathway appeared in my eye that leads towards where they are currently fighting.

The place is near, I reckon it. I looked at my left and saw the forest that was described by the god.

“Midnight Eye; Enhance Speed.”

My midnight eye is not what people call in this world as affinity that uses energy. My midnight eye is more like a talent, a blessing given to me ever since I was young. Due to this, the source of my power is endless however; each use of it comes at a very great price.

I am lucky enough that those prices are limited to a few parts of my body only. For an instance, in enhancing my speed, I am enhancing my physical energy which is why it does not affect any of my body parts. Enhancing my physical energy such as strength and speed do not require any cost but there are also instances where I enhance both my body and my inner strength and to that extent my chosen body receives the price.

I wouldn’t expect myself to possess this power freely though. I know that it should have a cost for each use however what I don’t understand is why I would be given such power for no reason.

As expected upon arriving at the tournament place, it will be covered with barriers.

I hear explosions occurring inside the battlefield. The barrier around the arena is simply made out of magic.

“This should be easy.” I told to myself.

Magic barriers are easy to counter. They are just made out of thin energies that continuously creates pressure so that nothing will come inside from the outside especially those who are composed of magical energies.

But I don’t possess magical energy.

I smoothly walked towards the inside of the arena. I used my midnight eye to locate the rest of them.

“Midnight Eye; Enhanced Sight.”

I see people roaming around the whole map. All of them emit a red aura in my eyes. These are just some of the capabilities that my talent can do.

I immediately saw Al and the rest of the group.

The god emits a rather unique color of aura in my eyes maybe because of the fact that he is a god and not just any other normal beau – as what they call them – out there. Without any doubt, I immediately run towards them so that I can help them as soon as possible.

The pressure coming from the explosions are not as weak as I thought. They were all enough for me to feel the presence of those explosions. I thought that I’d be escaping these people really quick but instead, I ended up getting caught in a fight.

“Art of Lightning; Flashpoint s***h!”

I saw one of them coming right towards me wrapped with lightning bolts around him. He wields a dagger with both of his hands and looks like he wants to attack me with both of it.

Before he could even reach me,  I enhanced the speed in my hands and aimed my guns at him.

“If you think other people hesitate in killing people in here, exclude me.” I told him.

Before I could fire my gun, he immediately vanished.

“Then let me do the same.”

I heard his voice coming behind me. In just a matter of seconds I realized that he teleported behind me, but these types of attacks are always predicted.

“Don’t think low on me.” I told him.

I swiftly stepped in front of me and punched his chest. I heard him moan really loud from the punch that I gave in his chest.

“Art of Pantheon Flame; Flaming Spear!”

I will not lie, I did not anticipate a second attack coming right from behind me. Luckily, the spear wasn’t aimed towards me. I took advantage of the situation and ran away as fast as possible.

The last guy did not try to catch me at all. It seems like he has been aiming for that thunder guy all this time. I continued running towards where the god and the others are but this time, I hid my presence.

I need to avoid fighting at my current state, I have not healed enough and I can’t simply fight someone who has more energy than me, I will never win.

It only took me a few minutes with my enhanced speed when I reached them. The three of them were not running at all and are seemed to be occupied by thinking what their next move will be.

“Did you feel that?”

I heard the kid said.

“Someone’s definitely in here.” the other tall guy said.

“Ready yourselves.” the god continued.

“Relax, it’s me.” I told them and I removed my invisibility.

“Percisca? What are you doing here?” he asked me.

“To join the fight of course, why else should I be here?” I told him.

“I did not expect you to be joining us today.” the kid said.

“I’m not obliged to tell you what I want to do. I’ll do what I want until I get tired of it.” I told them.

“Very sassy, I like that.” the tall guy told me.

“We have no time having fun around here. When I was on my way towards here, there were two people that caught me. A pantheon flame user and a lightning user.” I told them.

“That must be Johann and Meliorne.” Aljinn said.

“We should start moving, we wouldn’t want the next person to attack us be Johann. His magic is just too much for us to handle.” the tall guy said.

The last thing I would expect from Percisca is she coming here to help us and join the fight. I thought she would be on her way somewhere where she has business.

We all started walking with no goal where again but this time, we have Percisca with us, and I know this should be easier with her besides us.
