I heard it all clearly. I can see it through my closed eyes as it tries passing through my eyelids. The sound of morning bees buzzing around and the golden sunrays achieving pathway towards my eyes.
I am widely awake. Or perhaps, nearly wide.
Because trust me, I am so not ready for this day and the upcoming days. Not to mention those heavy words that Elio said yesterday like how he keeps on repeating the words "intense" and "hard" again and again all over my ears. Last night was a full blast. The last of my respiteful days. I guess now it's time for my doubtful and resenting days.
I cannot lift my body though. It is like it's all heavy except the weight is just above my stomach. My chest seems to feel light, but something in my stomach sure makes it heavy and hard to carry. I opened my eyes and glanced at it.
I swear it was a glance — I cannot just swear without saying it's the truth — because the sunlight feels like it's about to blind me or maybe I guess I already am. The pure pressure on my stomach is not tiredness from yesterday nor the supper I ate last night. I saw it clearly with my two blinded eyes — I suppose it is — that there is something on my stomach that is making it feel heavy no wonder I felt light on my chest.
"What the hell is this?" I tried shouting, but my voice is half-cracked.
My breathing isn't normal. The pressure on my stomach is what's making my breathing not normal. I tried moving with all my strength, and there was an improvement. I was able to move the pressure off of me after a few seconds of struggling and moving. I laid my chest onto the floor and started breathing consequently constant, creating a proper flow of breathing throughout my body. I swear to god I am almost near to death if I hadn't realize there is something on my chest.
I continued breathing and breathing until I was able to catch up to my breath. After a few seconds when I started feeling relieved I stood up and grasped onto something immovable to keep my balance. My sense of sight isn't keen, but there's definitely someone in front of me. My visions blurred after struggling onto that object on my chest for so long so I placed my left hand on the left side of my face.
My breathing is still fast, and my visions were getting clearer and clearer every second I try to catch up with my breath.
"You're awake finally." the person in front of me murmured.
I recognize the voice though which made me remember where am I and who am I with.
"What.. the.. hell was that?" I said as I still continue reaching for my breath.
"I told you our training today will be intense. You must have prepare yourself I presumed." he said.
But I did not prepare myself. I didn't even bother thinking about it!
"Get yourself sober come on. You look like someone who's still drunk after waking up. Here take this." he said as he lend a set of clothes at me.
The clothes were white in color all of it, in a set. It seems like it is some kind of medieval clothes that they wore back then in history. The set comes along with belts to tighten some parts of the clothes. The upper part comes along with one belt on the waist for adjusments while the lower part comes with belts on the knees. I can't really define if upper than the knees or lower but there are belts and that should be sufficient.
I went straight to the bathroom and changed my clothes. The set was kind of new to me and it do gives me displeasing treats. There were some parts that makes it itchy, and some where I feel like it is too tight. I opened the door and went out ofcthe bathroom, only to see Elio beside the table with countless piles of books on top of it.
He grinned at me along with his eyes and said, "You need to know more about the world before going out into the wilderness."
I took a deep breath and immediately let it all out. I feel tired already just by seeing the stacks of books on top of the table and I surely will not like this day.
"Let me go with the basics first." he introduced.
I sat along beside him and looked carefully into the book he's holding. There are a bunch of words and images inside it which seemed to be not foreign at all.
"Characters Stats or Skill trees." he mentioned.
I remembered the skill tree I saw on my screen yesterday. There were words exactly I could define myself but might have different meaning with this world. I feel confused all over but here I am sitting on a treehouse trying ti understand the basics of this world.
"The skill tree is divided into five parts, Strength, Speed, Dexterity, Intelligence and Defense." he explained.
"Each division has its own unique features. Let's start with Strength. Strength is the source of power for a spellcaster or wizard. It is where your power and damage come from." he said.
He lent out his left hand opened it upwards, palm facing the roof. His eyes glowed and a magic circle appeared in his hands. Something is charging up in it. A purple flare most likely. After a few seconds, the flare rushed up immediately and it destroyed the roof.
"The higher your strength is, the higher capabilities it has to pass through solid objects." he mentioned.
"Now let's go with Defense. Defense explains the word itself but it has another feature. Defense increases your chance of creating defense-mechanism spells. For example if you want to create a defensive wall, your defense must be decent enough for it to last for how many seconds you want it to last." he continued.
"Speed on the other side is self-explanatory. It increases both your velocity and agility in a balanced proportion. Then, Intelligence is the most critical stats for people who rely most on spells. Intelligence increases the chance of your spells to work. Most of the time, people cannot focus enough in spellcasting which is why they increase their intelligence really well. Intelligence also increases your speed in mental thinking. Making you think through events as quick as possible." he mentioned.
He looked at me and smiled with his eyes glowing in purple. Later on, multiple orbs of light appeared, taking form of an insect after it spawned.
"See? The higher your intelligence is, the more you can make in just a second." he explained.
Then he closed his eyes and every purple insects disappeared. He looked back into the book and explained, "Lastly, the Dexterity. Dexterity increases the speed of your abilities. The higher your dexterity is, the faster your skills will move and produce."
"As you have seen earlier, I banced my intelligence and dexterity, making both have the same chance of working together." he continued.
"Another thing is, when in a real fight you must never doubt yourself. Do not let your fear or any other negative emotions control your abilities and casting capabilities. Your intelligence would be totally useless if you have doubts in yourself." he added.
"You may spend your skill points now, make sure you take note of what I explained earlier. Making it imbalance might give you problems." he said in a serious tone.
I opened the screen of my character information and went to the skill points.
But there is something quite not right. If I remember carefully I have 10 skill points yesterday. Right now it's 0 and that all of my stats are at a question mark.
"Elio." I called him immediately.
He glanced at me and then looked at my screen.
"I totally forgot." he mentoned.
I looked at him with curiousity. The audden feeling inside me creeps out throughout my whole body. I have no idea if I'm broken or what but this really freaks me out. I can feel the blood inside me flowing in my bod. I guess this just happens when something scares you.
It's because I am totally scared. This unknown feeling wrapping me, the fear I feel all the way down to my ankle I suddenly see them all. My visions were a little bit blurrie it's becayse I am worrying too much.
"Gods don't need skill points at all." Elio said.
I glanced at him and felt a moment of relief after some seconds. I took a deep breath and let it all out slowly while calm.
Elio already knows my role. He must've noticed it from the training yesterday. There were no signs of shock though. He must have either knew I am a god at he first saw me or I have no idea what else could there be.
"I still cannot believe I am seeing a god in front if me right now." he mentioned.
"Before we go to an actual training again, here is the book of monsters or peronomicon. Here lies all the information about various monsters we'll be seeing tomorrow. Although you might not need it as gods aren't really necessary to join the event.
I felt the disappointment in him after knowing I was a god. There was some happiness though, but after realizing us gods doesn't really need to attend such events, his aura suddenly changed from being excited to disappointment.
"Hey, I am coming with you tomorrow." I told him.
Then he paced himself up. He gave me the book and I opened it. His explanation is coming along with every page I unfold.
It took us about three to four hours before we finished all that intellectual training. I think I am ready for the event tomorrow mentally, but physically I guess I am not.
We both went downstairs to prepare for an actual fight. This time I feel like Elio's not going to doubt hitting me with his skills so I have to take extra precautions.
The field in the afternoon seemed to be a nice place to train. There's just air and nothing else but air. Silence is present too, which wraps the whole field except the rough interaction between the grass and the air causing soft yet loud sounds.
There is this medium pause between me and Elio. The distance and gap between us explains it. Something is ought to happen and nobody knows what will succumb in the future, but one thing is present and obvious, something natural will happen, and right now is the time for it to occur.
Without any doubts, I closed my eyes and tried feeling the flow of energy around me. I sense along the wind and soft vibrations from the ground which helps me to actually channel my energy more. I am not a professional, I admit that. But whatever may the result of this training be will greatly affect the future ahead of me. I must say this is a thing that I'd never expect to happen. But it is already here and all that's left is to go along with it. To catch along with the flow, to play along with the time.
And then it happened, in a mere second, and exchange of outstanding energy occured in the whole field. The pressure is confused whether which or where to go. The air comes along with it too, the interaction between two different energy sources were as huge as it can be.
"Moonlight Flies!"
"Dance of a Thousand Swords!"
An exchange of spells occured. The air is filled with energy and different entities. On my side lies numerous amounts of swords while on his side lies countless numbers of purple flies swarming his whole upperside.
Then suddenly, there came a dispute between two summoned entities. The swarm became stronger and stronger. Each entity crashing through each on the opposite side. Swords against flies and there seems to be no winner at all. The dispute lasted for around a minute or so.
When there was no more flies or swords seen in sight, I noticed something is different. I looked at Elio and saw something I didn't expect. He had scratches and marks around his face and his arm. His left arm is blocking his front body, catching the possible damage given.
Some of my swords went through the chaotic dispute. And it hit him. There were no signs of bleeding though. Just pure scratch and bruise marks.
My eyes widened from shock and disbelief. His knees were also bent in a little angle and he's trying to catch his breat — not much, but enough.
I stepped once, but did not hesitate after hearing his voice, "Do not hesitate on your enemy! Don't show mercy or you'll regret in the end. I can take care of myself Al I promise!"
So I stepped back again and waited for his next move.
Another huge pressure came along. This time it's bigger than the pressure before. He's exfoliating too much energy in his body this time that it can be seen through the eyes. Then there came a magic circle on his ground, a familiar one.
It's that skill again. I recognize it. I have seen it and I definitely remember it.
"Moonlight Ape!" he casted.
I felt the same fear from before. It looks like I have fears from objects bigger than me. My kegs are shaking and my hands are definitely sweaty all of a sudden. I don't know what to do.
Then I remembered something.
I must never doubt myself. Never let any negative emotions affect my abilities and casting capabilities. So I closed my eyes. I breathe in and out constantly in an unchangung pattern. I gathered the energy inside of me and transposed them outside. I focused on my capabilities, and that there are countless posibilities for me to change and manipulate the current event.
Then I breathed out for one final time and casted it out in a screaming manner, "Art of Illusion, Logrength Guardian!"
A huge magic circle appeared on my side of the ground. The color is nit the same as Elio's magic circle. The color has a faint feature that shows complete white structure with semi-black features on some edge of it. A few minutes of waiting and the entity I called upon had appeared. The very second spell I created, the summoning spell Logrength Guardian.
The name was of no source, it was a word that appeared in my headwhile I was closing my eyes. The mere energy left inside me had transposed and taken the form of something I had imagined it to be.
The Logrength Guardian.
Logrength has a unique feature that stands beyond Elio's Moonlight Ape. Its color is pure grey and its body is purely made out of glass. Something fragile should I presume but it's not. It as able to catch the consecutive blow that Elio's ape were releasing and here it is still standing, unscratched and still on balance. The most distinctive feature I might be able to define out of it is the resolve that I can sense inside Logrength. I can hear his words and I can understand them very well.
Its resolve to fight for me is outstandingand un comporable. The resolve it has to follow my orders is unending. I can sense it very well inside him,the energy I infused it with.
I never commanded him to attack though just as what he is doing. He is currently stuck on his place, huge arms blocking out the attacks that the ape is consecutively blowing.
I looked at Elio and I can see very well. I have no fear in me just pure courage to stand up for myself. Elio on the other side is full with resolve and courage too, but his body is getting softer and weaker. I can see and sense the energy inside him. It is outstanding for someone who has a human role but being a human, his energy is dissipating really fast.
Until Moonlight Ape vanished.
I called back Logrength and immediately ran towards Elio. As his body slowly fall down on the ground, I ran as fast as I could to catch him. The very last minute was a lucky catch.
His body is full of scatches and marks yet his eyes are still full with resolve. I smiled at him and cried, "Thank you Elio. But we should stoo, we might nit have the sufficient energy for tomorrow if we were to abuse ourselves."
He closed his eyes and smiled at me, "You surpassed a friend in just a day. You're one dang lucky bastard aren't you Al?"
I had no strength too for me to carry him, so I used some of the energy inside me to call a human-sized entity to have him get carried.
He slept for around three hours and it's already 6:23 pm. I guess all that training really did burn uo most of his energy and strength.
When he woke up, he immediately sat on the floor.
"Guess I couldn't beat you this time." he murmured and then laughed.
I laughed along with him and passed him his food. He glanced at my other hand as he saw me holding a book.
It is the book of monsters that he had given me earlier that I am currently holding. He saw it and smiled at me.
"I knew you were into the event after all!" he said.
We talked for a few hours and then somethinf appeared in our screens.
"The Island of Experiences will be open later at 21:00 pm until tomorrow 21:00 pm. All players interested in entering the island are obliged to step into warpgates or create their own warp portals for preparation 2 minutes prior the said time. Failure to do so will not be considered in warping towards the island. Goodluck people and may Ylgaea bless you all!"
And so it's on.
