Edgeseekers pt. 2

2443 Words
Our task was simple. We have to eliminate the snow goblins that are causing trouble in the northern region as per requested by the regional master, Meisha. During my first month in Ylgaea, I have read a lot of information about various monsters that lurks in the whole world. Monsters are divided into various types that classifies their threat level and capabilities. One of them are goblins. Goblins are known for their excellent intelligence when it comes to manipulating magics and energies. That is why goblins have different varieties such as Snow Goblins, Fire Goblins and even Elder Goblins. Based on some books, Elder Goblins are the strongest of all, with the threat level of color orange. Each monsters has their own threat level: Green threats are normal threats that occurs on a daily basis, Yellow Threats are uncommon threats that mostly are about monsters capable of destroying a town or a city, Orange threats however are rarer, with their capability to destroy an entire region while Red threats are the most dangerous of all but is made to be believed that are extinct, because red threats are capable of destroying multiple regions, or if possible the entire Ylgaea. Just like monsters, the world also has the what they call beau ideals or in common terms, heroes. Each beau are consisted with different roles, such as mages, hunters, adventurers and more. Beaus are said to be people in the guild, and they are classified with different names based on their capabilities. There are the Bluestras, which are the tacticians of a guild. They said to be capable of predicting outcomes and possibilities and are entrusted with great knowledge by deities. There are the Redetrums, which are the main lead of the party. The front liners in their team, which are the head start of battles and lastly there are the Whiteatas, which are the support of the party. Together, all three classifications are capable of dealing high level threats. Elder goblins are believed to be a yellow threat while other types of goblins are just said to be green ones. There are to be honestly low rates of crimes and accidents when it comes to goblins that is why they are actually considered as green color threats, as they rarely oppose to human acts and desires. What we are tasked to do is eliminate a green threat monster which is this whole time not humane at all. Something of low threat should not deserve to be eliminated nor killed. When we entered the cave, an aura of gloom had welcomed us. The cave was deeply dark from the entrance towards the end but is well lit enough for us to see the goblins. Diether set up a glowing orb in order to give us more view of what is inside the cave. There were just few snow goblins, countable by the fingers if I may describe. There are about four to five of them, and they seemed to be harmless. They are feeling blue, because I felt it and I heard it. Some of them were crying and some were whispering and or murmuring something to themselves. When it comes to intelligence, goblins are one of the excelling monsters to have one, so it is most likely impossible for goblins to be out of their minds. We were all doubting if we should take a step closer — well I would really not say all. Elio was being reckless and is pursuing to destroy the snow goblins immediately. "I'm killing them so we can finish this job early." Elio stated. I immediately stopped Elio before he could even cast a spell and said, "Elio, they are harmless monsters that are overwhelmed by their emotions. If we were to eliminate these harmless goblins, then it only shows that our skills are limited to slaying those who are only weaker than us." Elio reprimanded his actions immediately after what I said. He took a step back again and let me walk inside the cave first. I tried talking to them and calming them down, because maybe they just need someone to talk to. But then they became aggresive. One of them pointed a wooden stick at me and gave out a deep growl. A medium sized snowball was projected at me and I was scared all of a sudden which is why I froze from where I was standing. Luckily, Elio was able to do something. "I told you we should have eliminated them." he said. "Stop thinking recklessly Elio, we have no idea what the capabilities of these snow goblins are. Even if they are just snow goblins, they still are able to cast magic and that their intelligence is not limited to casting them. They might have had something pre-made before we enter this cave in order to ambush those who are planning on disturbing them." Diether explained. Diether got my exact point. These snow goblins are after all intelligent when it comes to magic. They might have something up on their sleeves that we don't know so it is better if we are prepared. "So what shall our plan be then?" Elio asked. "I'll talk to them." I told him. "That didn't work on the first try." he replied. "Which is what makes it worth a second try. Just trust me Elio." I told him. He shut up after that. He just looked away from me and let me do the rest. I walked towards the snow goblin and this time they did not throw anything at me. They just continued crying and crying. When I reached them, I tapped one of them in their shoulders and he immediately glanced at me. "What?!" the goblin shouted. Well that's odd. Sure I may have read that these goblins possess immense intelligence when it comes to magic, but I have never though that they could actually speak the same language that we humans do. "Is there anything wrong?" I asked him. "You have been causing unwanting snow in the northern region and it has been bothering a lot of people. Many faers cannot plant their crops well as the snow are paving way for the cold. Some families can not feel the warmth anymore because as reported, the snow has been going on for months." I told them. The goblins were shocked with what I told them. They seem to be having no idea about what they were causing and or doing after all. There must be something bad that happened for them to feel this gloomy. "One of our ancestors died while wandering around the forest. We got reports that there were tons of red threat monsters that are coming off the northern region." the goblin explained. Red threat monsters? So after all, every myth in this world sre actually cominh out ti be true? Explaining the fact that people started believing that gods are only nothing but myths and I ended up being one, now a bunch red threat monsters are said to be spotted moving towards the northern region. I looked at Elio and Diether immediately while I ran back towards them. "Did you hear what he just said?" I asked them. Both of them shook their heads. "Nobody can understand the language of goblins. We were actually surprise that you are able to communicate with them by just using our language." Elio told me. I remember reading this part of the monsters in a certain section before, where monsters in this world speaks some kind of foreign language that no one could understand. But what could be the explanation that I can understand them and they can understand me? "Maybe the fact that you are a god is what makes you capable of understanding them." Diether told me. He may be right. The perk of being able to communicate with monsters must be really because I am a god. I went right back at them and comforted them, "You know, when someone dies it does not mean that they are gone forever. Sometimes, our love one dies because they want to tell us that even though they are not physically beside us, they will always remain in our hearts and that they have taught us a lesson." I told them. What I said was deep but I hope they understand it. The thing is, I am still not sure about thid God talking to minsters thing. Communicating with non humans has never been my thing, and this is the first time I experienced talking to monsters about something they feel. The fact that I am just soeaking ourely a foreign language and that these goblins can understand it is a miracle. They all stopped crying whole some continued wiping their tears. "Cheer up now, your ancestor will always be inside your hearts." I told them. "Uhm.." one of the snow goblins said. I looked at him immediately. The snow goblin was wearing torn clothes and a small bag in front of him. "We literally don't have hearts." he said. Oh crap. I must have forgotten. Monsters surprisingly don't contain any hearts. Their living being is a question against the normal physics of humanity, but it is still a shame I said that. "However, we still understand your point. We know that you wanted us to feel that our ancestor will always be by our side even though he is not physically with us." he said. I nodded my head and smiled at him. The problem seems to be fixed now. It stopped snowing and we went directly back to the center of the region. Upon reaching the center of the region, the same vibe I felt earlier in the castle is here. It may not be as intense as earlier but I totally feel it. I sense a reddish energy coming off from the townsquare of the northern region. Elio knocked at the door and an elder woman opened the door. "My, my. You must be from the guild. Come inside come inside!" the elder woman said. There is this style from how she speaks that she repeats everything she says. It must be because of her old age that she keeps repeating them, but it is not annoying. The tone of her voice is so calm and peaceful that it can make someone sleep easily. But I shouldn't forget that there is a hot red energy coming in this house. She seems to have no acquaintance, or so I thought. Just as another girl went to the room and look for the old lady, she immediately noticed me. I noticed her too and figured she looks familiar. She is one of the girls in the group of people I saw earlier in the guild. She was the one beside the guy with the white hair. Our eye contact was weird yet intense. The energy surrounding us started to move faster as if it is incontaminable. There was a huge exchange of energy, my clear white energy flowing around the room just like the girl with the red hair. Then suddenly, my heart started beating faster. I hope she feels this too, because I can't just be the one feeling this peculiar sense inside me. She was holding a tray when she immediately placed it at the table where everybody is sitting. Right after she finished, she smiled at me and went into the back. I followed her to ask what could possibly this feeling be. I heard Elio shouting my name but I didn't mind him. Instead, I let him do the talking to the old woman for me. She was wearing a modest outfit as her red hair glows, while stumbling in the air. Her hair was bouncing up and down, up and down in every step she takes towards somewhere I have no idea. i was following her until she decided to stop walking. So I stopped walking too. There is no doubt that she sensed me walking after her and I know she predicted this. "Looks like you finally arrived." she told me. "Did you also feel what I just felt?" I asked her. "Is there any reason I should be feeling this? It has been bothering me ever since I started seeing you along with some of your comrades." I told her. "I don't feel what you feel." she said. "That's—" "But I know what yo feel." she said. "That is called the god's instinct. It is a sign or symbol that tells you are with a god or a goddess." she said. I immediately felt it becoming lighter after she explained it. "What would that mean?" I ask her. "It means, you're seeing a goddess in front of you." she said. A... a goddess? She is a deity like me? She immediately looked back at me and smiled. "It has been stated in the prophecy that someone will come, unexpected that will resolve the dispute between the deities." she said. But what does she mean by prophecy? Is everything going along well in somebody's plan? Is whatever happening right now a prediction? "I am Mera. I am the first chosen goddess of Ylgaea, the goddess of fire." she said. Her hair started flaming and her clothes transformed into a dress. The clothes were in flaming red color, literally flaming. There were parts that were wrapped in flames and some were just plain red. "Finally, someone will help us." she said. "But what do I do? How do I help you and when do I have to do it?" I asked her. She smiled and then calmed herself down. Her dress became the old modest clothes and her hair started loosing as flames also disappear. "Now that's your task is not it? I have not a single idea on what you are tasked to do." she said. "Can you at least tell me what is going on between the gods and goddesses?" I asked. Moments later on I saw a figure of a man going towards us. Mera smiled and turned her back on me. "You should worry about what your future holds you right now." she said and walked towards the guy. There is this familiar figure in the guy. Like I have seen him somewhere, his gray hair or maybe white that lights up the aura of darkness. ----- [Author's Note] I still managed to upload it now very long after 24 hours hihi!
