Chapter Ten
What is he up to? Una wondered as she made her way into the hidden cave. Zurburt had told her to wait here until he came back for her, and that he would lead her back to the cottage. Once her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she could see that it was no more than thirty feet deep. This discovery also reassured her. All the way to the back of the cave, she sat on the smoothest spot she could find and contemplated taking a nap. Just as her body was dipping to the right, the crunch of a foot on gravel outside jerked her sharply awake. Someone or something was walking close by. Una pulled the pebble from her pocket. With short, shallow breaths, her body rigid, she waited.
