3: Preliminary Investigation
DET CHIEF INSPECTOR Mick Greene was having a leisurely start to the day when a call came through that put him in charge of the investigation.
‘Bugger,’ he said.
He was briefed about two people who were shot in East Finchley.
He called his sidekick Detective Inspector Linda Field, but she already knew and had made sure that the forensic team was on their way. They had to get there pronto before every Tom, d**k, and Harry trampled all over the place with nary a thought about preserving evidence.
