Chapter 19: Premarital Actives

After the accident at Gatsby Gabriella decided that it would be best to move her younger siblings down here. But since she wasn't officially 18 yet she couldn't have full custody over the children so my mom had to step in and be a parent for Katarina and Evan. Gabriella hadn't met Katarina until this visit because her mom just had her a couple months ago, and Evan is turning 7 soon so he understands everything that is going on which is horrible. 

Since my mom took custody over the children Gabriella decided to move back in the penthouse with my mom and Luca. Gabriella is letting Ryland, Thomas and me stay at the beach house since she is living here at the moment. Alexis officially moved to Boston and her little relationship between her and Thomas died off. Thomas did not want her to leave and she wasn't going to stay just because of him so it ended. So we get the entire beach house to ourselves except no one is allowed to sleep over due to the one rule Gabriella made. 

Today the boys and I are actually going to see Gabriella and how she is dealing with the kids and living back with Luca and Ava. Luca and Gabriella's relationship hasn't been the best because of the fight back at the beach house due to Angelo. Speaking of Angelo, he and his wife are officially parents due to Isabelle being pregnant. Gabby didn't take it well; she closed off everyone and has been since then. That's why we are going to visit her today. 

I feel a smack on the back of my head as I turn around and glare at Thomas. "What why?" he rolls his eyes and motions to the penthouse. I catch up to them and slap Thomas in the back of the head "Karmas a b***h" he shrugs and continues walking. After I enter the penthouse I see Gabriella sprawled across the couch with baby Katarina snuggled against her body while Evan is on the other side of the couch watching a tv show. The actors on the tv begin to heavily make out as Gabriella shields the baby eyes "ooop Evan close your eyes they are practicing premarital activities!" she yells as Evan closes his eyes. 

I laugh as Ryland closes the door behind us. "Hi  momma," Thomas says as Gabby glares at him and throws a pillow at him. "Hi Gabby, how are you holding up". he sighs and changes the channel to a kids movie as Evan becomes engrossed into the film. 

Gabby stands up while holding a yawning Katarina. "Hold up guys we can talk in a second let me just go put Rina down real quick". I nod as I motion to the guys to watch Evan as I follow gabby. 

She places Katarina in the crib in my old room and covers her with a blanket. After making sure the baby is comfortable and cozy she kisses her forehead and grabs the baby monitor from the night stand. She turns around and faces me and smiles. I walk out of the room as she follows quietly closing the door behind her. 

"So how have you've been lately Gabby?" she nods and brushes her hair back behind her ear. "I've been fine. It's just hard to focus on two children, school and work but i've been okay with the help of your parents". I can tell that's not all from Gabby's under eyes and her body. She dropped a lot of weight, gabby was relatively chubby before the accident but you can tell she hasn't been taking care of herself lately she's been focused on the task of the children. 

"I believe my mom is coming home right now do you want to go out to eat with us?" she shakes her head and hugs her body. "I cant I have a lot of homework to catch up on and I work today". I nod as she walks past me. I don't even understand why she is even working. Her parents made a lot of money and were financially stable to say the least, she didn't need to work if she didn't want to. I sigh as I follow her into the living room. 

She walks to the couch and sits down and grabs a text book along with a notebook and a pencil. "We are going to eat at Gatsby's. We will bring you something back, what do you want?" Without turning her head she says "No thank you guys I ate earlier". 

"No you didn't, you said you weren't hungry when we got McDonald's after school" I turned to Evan who just ratted his sister out. "It's because I ate at lunch during the school day and I will eat when I go to work". I rolled my eyes and shot from the door "Were bringing you food back and you're going to eat it!". I close the door before I can hear her protest.

Gatsby's was no longer a diner due to the bad memories of Dawn and Tylers passing so Ava and Luca decided that they would completely change it from a diner to a 1920'a styled theme restaurant. They still had the normal menu from the old Gatsby's; they just added new things to it that screamed elegance. During the day anyone was allowed to come eat inside but after 5 only reservations were allowed and there was a dress code everyone had to follow. We decided to eat the food on the outside tables because it was getting close to 5 and we didn't want to get rushed. 

"Good afternoon gentlemen my name is Maya how are we doing today". I nod and say thank you as the guys begin to order. "I'll take the Dawn special" she nods and walks away. I see Robert the current manager of the restaurant as he walks over to us "Hey Robert how are you doing today". he nods and sighs. 

"I am doing as anyone else is doing today just trying to get through it". I nod as Ryland shoots his paper from the straw at Thomas. "How's Gabriella?" I quickly snap my head towards Robert. "what do you mean she's working here shouldn't you know?" he shakes his head. 

"She quit the day after the accident. I haven't seen her since you all were here that morning. Did she say she still works here?" I sigh and shake my head. "No I just must be confused. Hey can you make the chicken strip dinner please with a lot of ranch and a Strawberry milkshake please". he nods and walks away. 

I look at the guys concerned as they stare at Maya who came back with the food. "Here you go gentlemen just let me know if you need anything else''. I stop her as she tries to walk away "hey you were friends with Gabby correct?" she nods "Do you know where she's working?" her face pales as she shakes her head. 

"no I haven't talked to her since the accident". She's lying you can tell by how pale her face got and how she is uncomfortable. "So we are going to try that again and you're going to tell the truth this time. Where is Gabriella working Maya''. She steps back trying to look for Robert or anyone to help her "Maya I am getting impatient. If you didn't know my family owns the resort along with the restaurant I can get you fired for withholding information that could potentially be important due to Gabriella's Safety". She huffs. 

"Fine she's working at Blaze" Blaze what the f**k is blaze. "What the f**k is Blaze" Thomas ask as Mia rolls her eyes. "It's a nightclub downtown near Malibu. She is a waitress but also a dancer from time to time". What the hell is Gabriella doing Dancing at a nightclub?
