They moved closer to the cave wall. Sure enough, the robot wolves had filled the entrance to the cave. They bared their sharp teeth and were ready to tear Maria and her friends apart.
“What do we do?” asked Luca frantically.
Their hearts were beating fast. They felt an overwhelming sense of dread. Even though they had weapons, with that many robotic wolves, it was impossible to defeat them. They weren't even afraid of fire.
While in the throes of panic, Maria noticed something strange. The wolves wouldn't come near them. This is strange! The robot wolves were furiously chasing them, but when they got close enough, they wouldn't attack.
“It's strange that they won't attack us,” said Maria.
“They're probably afraid of something on us,” Moon said.
“But what?” Miguel panicked.
