Part 4

The leash on my control snapped thin. “No more lies,” I said. “From the first meeting, every word out of your mouth was a lie. You lied about a dead daughter. You lied about a rogue attack. You lied about why a starving girl was bleeding in your basement. You do not have rights to Spurn because you gave those up every time you struck her, starved her, locked her away, and taught this pack to look the other direction.” My gaze moved to Dominik. “And you do not get to claim what you rejected. The bond you broke is not a chain you can pick back up because another Alpha chose to value her.” Dominik’s face darkened, but I did not stop. “This pack is rotten to the core. Not every wolf here is guilty, but enough of you have used fear as law and rank as permission. You have hurt my mate. You have threatened your staff. You have buried good wolves beneath your corruption and called it order.” I let my aura press outward, slow and deliberate. Wolves dropped their eyes. Some trembled. Others looked relieved that someone had finally said the words out loud. “I will return for what you have done to Spurn and to every innocent wolf trapped under your rule.” Alpha Amos stepped forward, rage blotching his face. “You have no right to address us like that. You do not know what that piece of s**t did to become a slave. She was a thief. She still is. She sneaks around. She disobeys. She deserved everything that happened to her. You have no rights to her because she is a slave. You will bring her back in here and forget about her now.” Stowne surged so hard my vision sharpened. My eyes changed, and my aura slammed through the entryway with enough force to make wolves bare their necks without meaning to. Alpha Amos fought it, but even he could not keep his chin lifted. Stowne’s voice came through mine, low and deadly. “I am leaving with my mate. And I will return.” I did not give them another second. I turned my back on their rage and walked out of the pack house before my wolf decided mercy was no longer necessary. By the time I reached the steps, I forced Stowne down and locked my fury behind my ribs. Spurn was waiting in the car. She did not need to see another monster wearing an Alpha’s face. She needed to see me choose her. I climbed in beside her, taking in the fragile hope and terror in her eyes. Her hand found mine, hesitant and shaking. I closed my fingers around hers with all the gentleness I had left. Then I looked at the driver and gave the only order that mattered. “Take us home.”
