In Love With My Contract Wife

Chapter six

~Ava~

“Hey baby!! I’ve been wanting for like forever. What took you so long? I called Dave and he said you probably went to your grandpa’s house. Has he finally agreed to the surgery?” The tiny feminine voice with the most touched up face and designer shoes uttered in a hurry as she rushed to hug Egon affectionately obviously not noticing my presence.

I stood there a little too frozen to the ground as I was trying to take it all in and think of the possible best way to act out the not so confused scene in front of me.

“You got a maid?”

She spoke out next ever so specifically as she gave me a once over, checking to see if I was probably fit for what she’ll want.

I scoffed, turning my face to look from between her and back to Egon.

“Hey cherry, I thought we talked about you messaging first from now on?” He walked past me, sounding the complete opposite from how he always sounded with me.

I hate to take notes but I did and it was clear that a touched up face got a softer tone.

I let a small smile show up on my face as I was getting more than just a once over now. She stared back as Egon moved closer to meet her.

“Would have surely preferred an older lady Egon, the young ones tend to lose focus and create time to dream the unachievable.” Her words were straight up meant to insult me as her eyes lingered around my chest, moving up and down like there was something wrong with it.

“Do I look like a freaking maid to you?” It almost did come out of mouth but I held it taking the quick notes and difference between us.

“You really just had to prove that you are as confident as the red lipstick you have on?”

That was the nicest thing I could think of and blurted it out, rephrasing from the exact thing I truly had to say.

“Excuse me?” She snapped, definitely not one to let her ‘future maid’ go scott free.

I watched him stand close to her, offering her a hand to move elsewhere.

“It definitely has to be you being way too confident to think I was going to ever end up working as a maid for you.” I turn my gaze sharply at Egon, letting my words settle in nicely.

“What?!”

She wasn’t taking any of it and reacted way quicker than I expected. I mean I did give her some time to have her maid talk thing out of her system.

“Ava up!” He barked out orders, his back at me not even thinking twice to spare his new wife a glance.

My mind wavered and I was stuck in between doing a little something for the insults she gave me in the tiniest one minute after he gave out his order.

“Sure thing love.”

It didn’t sound utterly weird until I was done saying it and was walking my way upstairs like I had been here way longer than its owner himself.

The muffled noise matched with that of a not so quiet questioning on my way up made me settle with pride as I got exactly what I was hoping for.

Until my back made contact with the mattress that it all became so real.

I’m freaking married to someone I don’t know, his grandfather wants me to remain with him and he definitely has someone in his life.

I pushed the thoughts away, trying so hard not to think of the way things turned overnight and maybe the red lipstick lady thought well of coming today as having or seeing Egon any closer than he was tonight wouldn’t be so comforting or comfortable.

I stood up slowly, my head weighing down on the thousands of things running through my mind and stood before the widespread mirror in the room.

I definitely came back to the only room I knew of and while everything was so manly and smelled completely woody and masculine, threatening to choke me up with hidden sounds screaming Egon at every turn.

I stood face to face with the mirror he had spread in a rectangular form in his room. “How do I go from owing money to owing someone my time and everything?”

The question lingered right there as I ignored the voices I could make out in my head.

I thought of anything else as I decided to take a bath before sleeping avoiding the fact that I was going to live with someone seven freaking years older than me …
