Michael pulled off onto the driveway at Alexander's mansion. “I got some things to take care of; I'll be right back. Okay?”
“Yeah, okay. I'll just go take a quick nap,” Emily responded.
As Emily entered the mansion, she was greeted by Nanny Mary. “Miss Emily, how is Sir Alexander? Is everything okay?” she said, her voice trembling slightly.
“No, he's not doing too well. Actually, he's in a coma.”
“Oh, dear. That poor boy,” Nanny Mary said, worry evident in her expression.
“Don't worry, I'm sure he'll get through it,” Emily stated.
“Yes, Sir Alexander is a very strong man.”
“Would you like something to eat?” Nanny Mary added.
“No, a glass of milk would be nice.”
“Ok ma'am.”
Emily sat on the couch, a tone of stress playing all over her. She then heard her phone ring. “Oh no, she must have seen me on the news.”
"Hey, Halie, what's up?” She said it in a soft tone, the feeling of guilt masking her expression.
“What’s up? Girl, you got a lot of explaining to do.”
“Hailie Look, I haven't really had time to settle down and stuff. I've been really busy, you know.”
“So busy that you couldn't call your best friend and say, Hey, I'm getting married to Alexander Roberts?!!!”
“I know, I'm very sorry.”
“Like seriously, this is not cool, and what happened with Michael?”
“Uhm… well—”
“Wait, you know what? We need to meet in person.”
“Urgh. Is that really necessary?” Emily grunted.
“Meet you at our favorite spot by 11, babe.”
“Wait, I kinda got this thing to—” Emily attempted to cancel the meeting, but Hailie had already ended the call.
“Argh! I haven't even had time to relax.” Emily murmured
Emily took a hold of the glass of milk Nanny Mary had made for her. Ok, taking a sip, her phone rang again. “Who is it now?” she muttered.
“Hello?”
“Miss Emily, it's Alexander's manager.”
“Okay?”
“Sorry to disturb you, but apparently Alexander has a meeting tomorrow, and you're going to have to fill in for him.”
“Oh my God, not this again.”
“I'm very sorry, ma'am, but stakeholders and investors are going to be present. I'll send you all you need to know about tomorrow's meeting.”
“Thanks; that would be really helpful.”
Emily ended the call and made her way up to her room. She lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, meditating on how her life had changed over the past three days.
“s**t!!!”

Emily stepped into the well-furnished boardroom of AR Technologies, her heels clicking against the polished marble floor. She took her place at the head of the table, facing the assembled shareholders with poise and determination.
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us today,” she began, her voice clear and authoritative. “I'm sure many of you are aware of the recent developments regarding my husband's health.” Emily felt a bit of irritation in her stomach when she said the word—my husband. “I want to assure you that while he may be temporarily indisposed, the vision and leadership of AR Technologies will remain strong.”
A murmur of concern rippled through the room, but Emily held up a hand to quell any further speculations. She had always been a confident, strong-willed lady. So she could handle anything that was coming her way.
One of the shareholders, a prominent gentleman with a sharp gaze, spoke up. “Mrs. Roberts, while we appreciate your reassurance, could you provide us with more details regarding Sir Alexander's condition and how it may impact the company?”
Emily nodded, acknowledging the questions. “Of course. Sir Alexander is currently undergoing treatment for a medical condition that requires his full attention and focus. While he remains involved in strategic decision-making, it is imperative we maintain stability and continuity,” Emily said, unwavering in her statement.
Another investor, a woman with a steely demeanor, raised her hand. "What measures are being taken to ensure that AR Technologies remains competitive in the market during this period of transition?"
Emily's lips curled into a confident smile. "Mr. Wilfred and I are keen on the implementation of a series of strategic initiatives to drive innovation, streamline operations, and capitalize on emerging market opportunities."
The atmosphere in the boardroom shifted from uncertainty to cautious optimism as Emily outlined her vision for the future of AR technologies. Shareholders and investors leaned forward, eager to hear more about the company's plans for growth and expansion.
“So I'm hoping we can dive into today's topic,” Emily stated as they began the main subject of discussion.
The meeting had ended, and the shareholders exited the room with warm smiles playing on their faces. Emily had now gained their trust.
“Great job, Miss Emily; you really impressed the board,” Alexander's manager, Mr. Wilfred, hailed Emily.
"Thanks, Mr. Wilfred,” Emily responded.
Mr. Wilfred signaled to a young lady, helping her to come forward. “Misa Emily, I would like to introduce you to Alexander's secretary, Catherine. She will now be assisting you with your meetings and appointments.”
“Oh, nice to meet you, Catherine,” Emily said, stretching out her hand.
“The pleasure is all mine, ma'am,” Catherine replied, accepting the handshake.
Emily picked up her cellphone to find missed calls from Halie. “s**t, I totally forgot,”
Emily has been at her and Halie's favorite restaurant since they were in college. “How is my sister from another mister?” Emily joked, trying to calm Halie's rage.
“Seriously Emily? You know, I'm starting to feel betrayed.”
“You can't actually blame me. I just finished a meeting with some shareholders of AR Technologies. I totally forgot about our meeting.”
Halie chuckled. “Look at you, CEO of AR Technologies. I know you never fail to impress.”
“So how did this happen? What happened with Michael?” She added.
“Well, Michael cheated on me with Lily,” Emily said, a hint of sadness displaying in her eyes.
“Lily? Lily has always been a b***h, but I didn't think she was capable of doing that.” Hailie said.
“And Michael, he was so generous. How could he have done this to you?” she added.
“I don't know Halie. It all happened so fast.”
“So you got married to Alexander Roberts immediately after Michael cheated on you? That doesn't really make sense.”
“You know what they say—love works wonders,” Emily nervously chuckled.
“Seriously? Nah, I ain't buying that. What really happened?”
“Urgh, fine. It was an arranged marriage. Alexander's father helped prevent my father's company from crumbling in exchange for Lily marrying his son. But my dumb family gave me up instead.”
“Really? That's unbelievable. I bet your stepmother influenced your father's decision,” Halie said, a feeling of concern engulfing her.
"Well, she probably regrets it now. We never knew Alexander Roberts was the CEO of AR Technologies.”
“Neither did I,” Halie said, shrugging her shoulders.
“I think things are better this way. I never want to see any of them ever again.”
“Don't worry. Everything will be alright,” Halie said, holding on to Emily's hands.
“What do you say we go out? You know the cinema is always open to us,” she added.
“You know, this is exactly why I love you.”
“Of course you do. I'm amazing,” Halie said as they both chuckled.
