Chapter 19

Max cannot hide the wide look in his eyes, gawking as he blinks a few times at the thought. Still struggling to process what the guy was trying to tell. No matter how much he ponders on the scheme, only one thing came to his mind. And just picturing the whole scenario made his stomach churn. It took a loud grumbling from his friend to snap himself awake, shaking off his dreaded pondering from all of his theories and bluntly asking his worry out in the open. “You’re telling me we’re going to piss on them?” He gasped, the unfathomable idea running through his head for the last few minutes. It kept popping over and over, that he had a hard time processing. Especially whenever the image of them taking on his stuff would appear. “Hell, no. It will take you about several liters of that before you can get these bozos to stop. Besides that, it causes them to become crazy.” Spartacus almost laughs out loud if he still could, now understanding the disgust and confusion on Max’s face. Though it was possible, they deemed perspiration as worthless, cause it held little effect on satiating dazed individuals. Even he did not know the exact explanation for it, using the said bodily fluid wasn’t as effective. “Then what is it?” Max grumbled in irritation. If urine was not the thing he was talking about, it was impossible to be sweat, since if it was, then the group would have gotten quelled minutes ago, having nearly licked every bit of the stated liquid from the guy. Was it tears or saliva? If so, why haven’t any of them targeted the guy’s face? These were the things he had thought of. After considering all the possibilities and conclusion, he came up with. His brain can’t come up with anything else, since these were the only fluids he could think of. His friend nearly burst out laughing, as if he wasn’t in the predicament right now. So he could only shake his head in both jealousy and pity, because of how pure in untainted the youngster was. “You really are still innocent, aren’t you? I envy you, man. This town seems to have properly cared and sheltered all of you from a lot of things.” Spartacus can’t help but let out a deep sigh with the reality, seeing how they protected everyone there pretty well. It put a sudden thrust of sadness and regret as he came there. “Dude, whatever the thing is, we better give it to them. They’re hurting themselves.” Max yells in panic, noticing how the group were clawing and bite at each other, trying to push one another to gain more access to the youngster. They were becoming more hostile with each passing minute, as they were now grabbing hold of each other to make them stop. The deputy among all the others was being hurt the most, since he remained embracing between the guy’s leg. Which got the ire of his comrades, who were now grabbing a hold of him to pull him away. “I’m really sorry, Max. I would have done it myself, if there were only five of them. But seven, that’s literally beyond my capabilities.” Spartacus heaved a sigh, remorseful of the situation they got into. If only there were fewer individuals, he was confident he could have handled things on his own without needing to pull Max along. Yet, because there were too many, there would be a probability he’d end up being drained and would wind up in a lot more trouble. “Just tell me what we need to do!” Max snaps. He was getting agitated by the guy’s hesitation. It caused him to think he was looking down on him, thinking he might not be up for the what needs to be done. The idea did not sit with him. And being belittled is the one thing he hated the most besides being bullied, and the notion his new friend did not trust him enough with such a task only made him want to prove himself more. Even if he remained clueless about what they needed to do. “This is your last chance, Max. If we start, you can’t stop. Do you really wish to do this? There is still the option of just beating the crapped out of them. With the two of us, it shouldn’t be a problem.” Spartacus insists once more because of the guilt nagging inside him, berating, scolding, and cursing. His face twisting at the idea he’ll be the one to cause a change. Besides, he was positive they’ll be able to take them down, no matter how crazed they get, considering they were both well suited for battle. Also, it seems his sweat has put enough of the group into a state of drunkenness from all the licking they’ve been doing. They’d probably would not remember anything for now. “They’re good people. And, I know them. It’s going to need more than just one punch to force them down. And I wouldn’t want to hurt them.” Max explains his own side. For years, these were the guys who trained with him, since there were no students wanting to compete or take part in the activities he enjoyed. So from the memories alone, he can say they were capable men. Able to withstand a proper beating. Because of that, he was sure they will put up a good fight in pushed into a corner, and he didn’t want it to happen, knowing they may end up hurting them. “Fine then. But don’t blame me if this starts getting to you.” Spartacus sighed in defeat, seeing the determination and resolve in the lad’s gaze to save those deranged officers. He didn’t expect this would happen, since he only wanted to show him the truth, not expecting everything to go this way. But because the opportunity presented itself, he took it but ended up regretting in the end. Not having put into consideration several possibilities. “I won’t.” Max’s face became stern, nodding. His expression gave out such an intensity, making his friend shake his head from a mix of embarrassment and admiration. “Geez, it would have been easier if we just took the other option.” The guy slaps his owns cheeks in utter frustration, grumbling because he can’t convince him to do so. Even if he chose the other way, he wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding their status. “Dude, are we going to do this or not?” Max frowned, glaring at his companion because of his sudden silence. He was worried, afraid they could end up too late to save anyone if the fighting between them continues on. As some individuals resorted to biting, to gain access and take his place. “Alright, hold your horses. I need to get in my groove.” Spartacus mumbles, taking in a long breath. With a bob of his head to his side to stretch it, a bit of shaking off his hands to awaken his veins. He entered his subconscious, diving into the vowels of the dark recess of his mind, reaching deep into a place of unknown. When the guy opened his eyes once more, his composure changed. The playfulness smile disappeared, replaced by a sadistic smirk, his gaze no longer having the glint of cheer but had some sort of cruelness, staring at the daze officers one by one as if choosing. Max’s breathing stop in bewilderment when suddenly everyone in the group stopped. They all halted and knelt in front of the guy, looking up at him with this stupefied look on their faces. The fellow’s gaze stops at the flustered deputy, who persisted vying in his position even after being bloodied by all the others. They meaningfully stared at one another, as if they were staring into each other’s mind. But what truly caught his attention was in how the officers remained perfectly still.
