CHAPTER FOUR Murielle turned onto the main road to Darloque and kicked Cheval into a hard gallop. Cornstalks rose above her on either side of the road, obscuring her view of the surrounding landscape. The road rose on a gradual incline bringing her above the crops to a small promontory. She dared not pause for even a second to take in the countryside spread out around her, and she continued hard down the soft slope back beneath the crop line. Although she did not pause, a slight glance to the left and then to the right revealed the green landscape around her.
