Chapter 29I strode out the kitchen door to the shed where I kept my bicycle. I buttoned up my wool coat and pulled my cap down low to keep the wind off my face. Frost layered the ground. Winter was coming. I cycled vigorously to keep the chill out and warm up my legs. In the aftermath of the shock of losing Maria, my mind had cleared a little. I couldn't help but wonder how her father had found us. How did he know where we were and what day and time we were to meet? Did they simply become suspicious? It was possible.
